Republicans want to make the 2010 election about jobs.

So what's their plan to create jobs? They will simply repackage their disastrous policies of the past 3 decades: (1) tax cuts for the rich and (2) business deregulation.

Bush's tax cuts for the rich in 2001 and 2003 created the greatest wealth inequality since the Gilded Age, destroyed jobs, and turned President Clinton's projected $6 trillion surplus into $5 trillion in new debt.

And business deregulation caused the financial collapse and Great Recession of 2008 - including the 10% unemployment that will make jobs issue #1 in 2010.

Voters should laugh at disastrous Republican solutions, but they won't laugh unless Democrats offer a better plan to create jobs.

The Democratic plan cannot simply be "Stimulus II." In the public's mind, "Stimulus I" didn't create any jobs, which is why unemployment is 10%.

We can't win the argument about how many jobs were "saved" because the data is too complicated. We also can't win the argument about "lower" monthly job losses because they're still losses.

To win this battle, we need solid ideas that will produce real jobs quickly. And these ideas need to have broad popular support.

Where will those ideas come from? Progressives like us.

I created a site to help progressives propose ideas and vote on the best ones. It's called USAJobsNow.

This easy-to-use site lets you propose ideas for creating jobs. It also lets you propose ideas for paying for those jobs. And it lets you vote on all the ideas so the best ones rise to the top.

So please stop by and help us beat the Republicans in the battle for jobs in 2010.
