The McCain-Palin campaign is running an advertisement "accusing " Barack Obama of once training ACORN members in Chicago. Obama should be proud of that. I've done it myself and am proud of it. I trained Chicago ACORN members in how to talk to the media about the wonderful work they do.

What sort of work? Chicago ACORN has worked to improve local schools, reducing class sizes, providing teachers with mentors and assistants. Chicago ACORN has worked to prevent predatory lending and reform predatory lending corporations, the opposite of what ACORN is accused of in the right-wing myth that blames Wall Street's troubles on Wall Street's victims. Chicago ACORN and its partner, Service Employees International Union Local 880, have worked to raise wages and working conditions for everyone -- yes, including all immigrants; there's no other way to do it. And ACORN has done work we should all appreciate in registering citizens to vote.

Here's the post-debate analysis from Agit-Pop:

John McCain and Sarah Palin are definitely bringing "change" to American politics. Sadly, it's by campaigning entirely on bald-faced lies.

They lie about themselves: that McCain "fought" Bush's disastrous policies while Palin "fought" the Bridge to Nowhere.

But more importantly, they lie about Barack Obama. Now they're saying he "pals around" with terrorists and "dangerously de-funded" our troops. These new lies follow dozens of older lies about religion, taxes, lipstick, and everything in between.

Do we want American politics reduced to bald-faced lies? Absolutely not.

McCain can't get away with lying
and bullying or the media anymore. We have to stand up and support media outlets
that expose him.

On Monday morning at the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia, Jane Mayer, New Yorker reporter and author of "The Dark Side," lavishly praised John McCain for passing a legislative ban on torture. She did so in a town-hall Q and A full of lots of very useful insights. And much later in the discussion she did acknowledge that McCain opposes habeas corpus and supports the use of certain "interrogation techniques" by the CIA.

I have listed every major or national or swing state newspaper & tv news outlet email for contact demanding they report the truth. Please read this email and copy and send it to your friends.  You can contact the news and demand they report the truth and NOT distractions.  If the press reports the truth then we win on the issues.

There are several impressive parts of this ad. First, Obama uses the word LIE in large type. Second, Obama attacks McCain for wanting "to ban abortion, even in cases of rape and incest."

Obama could hit even harder with abortion, but this is a good start.

McCain and Palin have been caught telling innumerable lies. But like the Energizer Bunny, they just keep lying and lying...
