DC: Barry Kissin on Steven Hatfill, Anthrax & Fort Detrick

The McClendon Study Group will meet Wednesday July 2nd at 7 p.m. at the National Press Club.

Our speaker for this session will be Barry J. Kissin, an activist attorney and former candidate for the U.S. Congress from Maryland. Although it is likely that you never heard of him, it is also likely that you are unaware of his theory that the anthrax letter attack on the U.S. Senate was an inside job. With five deaths and over a dozen hospitalizations, the American people should expect that all investigative leads would be vigorously pursued, a process Kissin is questioning.

You will recall that the McClendon News Service has never thought that the FBI's response to the attacks passed ‘the smell test.’ Now that former anthrax-attack ‘person of interest’ Steven J. Hatfill has been granted a nearly $6 million DOJ settlement, the odor has become pervasive.

NY, NYC: Mark Crispin Miller Hosts "The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power"

Mark Crispin Miller wrote:

"The Family" by Jeff Sharlet is an amazing book. One of those rare books that changes how one looks at the whole world, providing a profound corrective to a range of well-established misconceptions. Not only does "The Family" help us grasp the true threat posed by 'Christian fundamentalism,' but, even more important, it also utterly explodes the tidy leftist view that those who run the show are merely cynical, interested only in the numbers, and using 'faith' only to keep the masses hypnotized, the better to pick their pockets. While there surely is such cynicism at the top, the situation is, as Sharlet demonstrates, far more complex than that, and therefore a lot scarier. And to find out that such widespread and powerful fanaticism played such a crucial role throughout the Cold War is simply staggering -- one of those truths that will, I think, take quite a long time to sink in."

Ca, Beverly Hills: FREE FOR ALL!

From John W. Ennis, Director:
I'd like to invite you to the premiere of my new documentary, FREE FOR ALL!

After sitting through the suspect 2000 and 2004 elections, I had to go out with my camera to find out if what I felt in my gut was true: our elections in America are far from secure.

This investigation led me on a journey throughout Ohio, the pivotal swing state that decided the last presidential election. I met politicians, activists, election officials, journalists, attorneys, party leaders, a lot of cool locals who helped me shoot it all, and Jerry Springer.

The evidence I came across showed not just efforts to steal votes at the polls, but to systematically block millions of Americans from even casting a vote. When some people know they can't win fairly, they'll do everything they can to cheat.
