Impeachment 101: How Impeachment Serves a Democracy!

Our leaders still need to be held accountable but unless the people demand it - it will never happen. When January 20, 2009 arrives all the expanded powers and abuses will be sitting there waiting for whomever is elected.

Panelists will take a historical look at our founding fathers' intent to use impeachment as a tool to curb the abuse of power in government and examine noteworthy cases in our nation’s record in which Articles of Impeachment have been filed. They will discuss the purpose of impeachment, the separation of powers, and the legal definition of impeachable acts.

Help Honor Rep. Robert Wexler with Backbone Award in Florida on March 10th

The Deerfield Beach (FL) Democratic Club will honor Congressman Robert Wexler next Monday night, March 10th, at 7 p.m. As you all know, Congressman Wexler is working hard to get impeachment hearings started on Vice President Dick Cheney. He is every impeachment advocate's hero! The club will present him with a "Backbone" Award. Our favorite progressive talk show host, Nicole Sandler, of WINZ 940 AM, will also be a guest at the meeting.

Please go and show your support. The meeting will be held at Le Club at Century Village in Deerfield Beach.

Ever since I began my fast for impeachment February 12th, each morning, from 8 to 9 AM I have stood in front of the building that houses the office of Representative John Conyers, chair of the House Judiciary Committee who is considering articles of impeachment.

This is a critical time in our nation's history. It is important that we raise our voices at this time any way that we can.

Impeach or Else Rally

It is now undeniable that the Federal Government has failed us completely. We have asked our representatives to hold the Bush Administration accountable. Instead, they have blocked the Impeachment movement all over our country.

As we approach the anniversary of the illegal Iraq invasion, we have not given up on the idea of holding the criminals in the Bush Administration or those who enable them accountable. There is something that you can do. It is now time for Plan B.

Impeach for Peace researched a method for impeaching the President or Vice President using a little known and rarely used part of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives ("Jefferson's Manual"). This document actually empowers individual states to initiate the impeachment process. All that's required is that the MN House and Senate pass an impeachment resolution.
