Iraq $165B Vote

The House votes TODAY to fund Iraq $165 billion. House Dem. leader Steny Hoyer announced a deal w/ W to fund war w/o atimetable to bring soldiers home. Hoyer wants the bill passed TODAY, though 8% of the country oppose. Call your representative today and ask that they vote NO, even though parts of the bill fund GI college benefits, flood relief, and unemployment benefits. Those programs have support and can be passes separately, not combined. Call them and ask them to vote NO on Iraq funds. My representative, Jim Cooper's switcheboard is receiving lots of calls, they said. Let's light up the board!

Primary Against Jim Cooper (TN-05)

On 5/10/07, Rep. Jim Cooper betrayed the voters and troops of Tennessee's 5th Congressional District by voting to continue George Bush's disastrous Iraq War forever.

Democrats.com is looking for an "aggressive progressive" Democrat who will challenge Cooper in a Democratic primary in 2008.

Read our Candidate Guide.

If you are interested in running against Cooper, or know a good candidate who could run against Cooper, post a comment below.
