May Day Impeachment Action Pete Visclosky's Merrillville Office

Hi,

We will gather at Congressman Pete Visclosky's Merrillville office

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Noon

Bring impeachment signs if you have them

I'm open to discussing format. I will notify Mark Lopez who runs the office that we want a meeting and would like to have Pete on the phone if possible. Will also notify the papers and perhaps we can get a meeting at the nearby Post-Tribune office to discuss why the paper is not running articles on impeachment given all the laws that have been broken.

IN, Merrillville: Action at Congressman Pete Visclosky's office

Start: 07/23/2007 - 1:00pm

End: 07/23/2007 - 5:00pm

Timezone: Etc/GMT-5

Start time uncertain but it will be afternoon Read the names of all our U.S. dead in Iraq And I will remain in office until the Congressman agrees to return our country to the rule of law by supporting the impeachment of both the President and Vice President. Of course if the Congressman declines to return us to the rule of law, I will gladly allow myself to be escorted off to jail. If we live in a criminal country and decline to do what we can to change it, I believe I belong in jail. I am not asking anyone to join me in the CD aspect of this action, but I would welcome whatever other support could be given. Of course it goes without saying that anyone else sufficiently estranged by their government and wishing to join in the CD would be welcome. Inspiration for this event came from Cindy Sheehan. She will be doing a similar action in House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers' Washington office at the same time. The date is the 5th Anniversary of the Downing Street Memo which started to open some of our eyes to the extent of the criminal activity of our government. It is also the 2nd Anniversary of our first rally in Highland, Indiana. Support for impeachment can be given by signing the statement to Congressman Visclosky below. An email to me will suffice. If you want to include address and email so that he can respond, please do. Anyone who agrees with the statement is asked to email their name, address, city and state or country so that I can include it when I present it to the Congressman or his staff. Military families please include your child's name, rank and where he or she is currently serving. Gold Star parents are also encouraged to sign. Statement below Congressman Pete Visclosky, With their preemptive, illegal and immoral "war of aggression" in Iraq, sold to the American People with a propaganda campaign of lies, misinformation and half-truths, the President and Vice President should be impeached, removed from office and stand trial in an international court for war crimes. There is no lack of legitimate impeachment charges or evidence. In fact it will take some work to narrow down the list of charges.

The President and Vice President conspired to defraud the American People and Congress into believing that Iraq possessed WMDs and was a threat to use them against us.

They conspired to defraud the American People that Saddam Hussein and Iraq were linked to the 9/11 attacks and al Qaeda.

They led the nation into a "war of aggression" ('the supreme international crime' Nuremburg Tribunal) in violation of the United Nations Charter.

The House Judiciary Committee's Democratic Staff Report states there is a prima facie case that the President and his Administration are guilty of breaking at least 7 international and federal laws in the run up to the Iraq Invasion.

They have and continued to torture.

They have suspended habeas corpus and held prisoners without charges in excess of 5 years.

In direct violation of the FISA law they have wiretapped U.S. citizens without a warrant.

They were grossly negligent in their response to Hurricane Katrina.

They have politicized the U.S. Department of Justice by encouraging and discouraging prosecution of individuals according to what political party they belong to.

They have refused to comply with Congressional subpoenas in oversight investigations.

They have attempted to allow the theft of 80% of present Iraq oil fields and 100% of future fields by multinational oil companies through the Iraqi Hydrocarbons Bill, passage of which is demanded as a benchmark for progress by the Iraqi government and parliament.

This is criminal and under this President and Vice President our government is criminal. We demand that you represent your constituents, the American People and the Constitution of the United States and actively pursue impeachment articles against the President and Vice President. Nick Egnatz 8340 Baring Ave. Munster, Indiana nickatlakehills@sbcglobal.net

I strongly believe both the President and Vice President should be impeached for lying and misleading us into war in Iraq, torturing prisoners, warrantless wiretapping, gross negligence in handling Katrina and declaring himself as above the law with his signing statements and unitary presidency philosophy.
