CA, San Diego: A Senseless Death

The screening of A SENSELESS DEATH at the San Diego Public Library

A Discussion with Local Activist Fernando Suarez Del Solar Follows the Film

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Public Library will host a screening of A Senseless Death. This new film by Raymonde Provencher tells the little known story of "green card soldiers"-young, non-citizen soldiers and Marines struggling to achieve, the so-called, "American Dream"-who were among the first casualties of the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

The screening will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8 in the 3rd floor auditorium of the Central Library, located at 820 E Street in downtown San Diego. This free event is open to the public.

Warrantless Wiretapping Vote

I just called Rep. Susan Davis' office to voice my concern over Steny Hoyer's bill that grants immunity. I said I'd like to speak to the representative.

The receptionist said Davis was at that very moment listening to Steny Hoyer's speech on the House floor and that she would give Davis my message.  In my message I said I thought such cooperation between big corporations and the government was fascist and un-American.

I added that I had been paying attention to how Rep. Davis had been voting, and that I had been encouraged by some of her recent voting activity.

The receptionist replied that Davis really does care and that calls from her constituents make a big difference to her. She thanked me for chiming in.

So please, call and make your voice heard.  You *can* make a difference!
