John Yoo, former Bush administration Office of Legal Counsel, drafted legal memos which, some say, influenced the U.S.’s decision to torture. He is a visiting professor at Chapman University School of Law, where the controversy continues.

Join us for a Teach-In and panel forum with Q & A investigating:

Whether Yoo is complicit in the commission of war crimes.
Whether torture is deleterious to national security.
The impact of torture on our basic human and civil rights.
The relevant law: Geneva Conventions, U.S. Constitution and Treaties.
What remedy is available to torture victims?

Torturer's School to Thank Man Who Helped Lie Us into War and Helped Micromanage Torture

Colin Powell to be honored at Chapman University in Orange County, Calif., Saturday, March 28th

Reception and keynote is at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 7 p.m.

Powell will be the keynote speaker at the dedication reception of the Global Citizens Gala of the opening of the Global Citizens Plaza.

Tickets start at $1,500 if you want to attend this "cocktail attire" event.

We need to be there in full force. We will begin assembling at 4:45 p.m. at the Circle. At 5:15 p.m. we will begin our march to the Chapman University entrance on Glassell Street. This will give us at least 30 minutes to "greet the guests." Bring your signs, make some up.

Remember what Powell did to launch the Iraq war, and that he was one of the principles approving of torture under the "legal" cover provided by Yoo and others.

Saturday, 3/28 12 noon - Meet with OC Activists to plan and learn about April 18th conference on National Security and Torture: Human Rights, Rule of Law and War Crimes.

Noon, at Rutabegorz Restaurant

Then walk down to join up with OC activists at 4:45 p.m. at the Circle in Old Town to assemble and march at 5:15 to Chapman to greet Colin Powell who will be honored by Chapman University and who will dedicate Global Citizens Plaza. Bring your signs, be creative - Colin Powell helped 'sell' the Iraq War to the United Nations and was present at the Oval Office when detailed torture methods were being discussed.
