Iraq Town Hall Volunteer

I'm one of the state coordinators for Progressive Democrats Of America and I'm planning on scheduling either multiple town halls within district 10 -- in St. Petersburg, Largo, Clearwater, Seminole, The Beaches, and Dunedin.

We will proceed with or without Congressman Young's input. PDA nationally-endorsed congressional candidate Samm Simpson and other members of the peace and social justice movement will be on hand to help let the congressman/his people know about our need to get out of Iraq now, and forget about bombing Iran.

I will likewise invite the two other congresspeople within Pinellas County -- Bilirakis in FL-11 and Castor in FL-09. But the primary target is Young, given his tenure and positions on the military appropriations committee and his self promotion as "the veteran's friend".

Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially from a scheduling of facilities standpoint.

This is no doubt going to evolve over the next week.

Voting Problem

I would never had believed it possible. I voted this morning at my precinct 141. I have done this for years, as a very loyal voter. I entered my votes and when I went to the final screen to review my votes all of my amendment votes were the exact opposite of what I had voted for. The candidates were correct...but the amendments were completely flipped. I was really thinking that my eyes were playing tricks on me. I called a poll worker over and they are not able to view my vote so they could not confirm it. My husband who has already finished voting and wanted to know what was taking so long then came over to me. I asked him to look at the machine to confirm what I was seeing. We flipped back and forth between the screens. He did confirm the same thing as I saw, before one of the poll workers advised that he needed to move away as not to compromise my privacy. I was asked to remove all of my votes and move to another machine. They did shut that machine down for a few minutes. While I cast my votes on another machine the poll worker advised that she tested it and it was working fine. I think she said that maybe it was a bad cell. The machine was put back in service after being out of service for maybe 5-10 minutes. I asked her about all the people who had come before me...what about their votes. She said she had not had any problems until I voted on that machine. I am in shock. I now do not trust the computer system. I am a 40 something who is very computer savvy..I am really amazed at the situation and the way it was handled.

LOOKING FOR ST. PETE VOTERS re: Blue Revolution

Florida voters need to try harder to stop this ripoff with the electronic voting machines. Maybe we could keep a record of our votes on paper by collecting data outside the polling places??? I'm new to this area but would like to join forces with like-minded people concerned about the use (misuse) of electronic voting machines and other election fraud issues.
