a recent pbs tv telecast featuring a man whose name I didnot get giving something like fifteen or more reasons why bush should be impeached was terrific.It was friday evening, december 21, about 11pm or later, broadcast over a pbs netwrk in northern california. Ferguson's new documentary: No End In Sight
Ferguson's new documentary on our government's occupation of Iraq, No End in Sight, shows how the Bush administration destroyed the Iraqi government and then actively precluded any form of meaningful governance, with the inevitable result of chaos, mass death, and insurgency.
In the documentary, high-ranking officials provide strong testimony to the effect that the destruction of Iraq is the result of deliberate arrogance and negligence by Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, and L. Paul Bremer III, among others. I believe that their actions constitute mass negligent homicide by any reasonable standard. Ferguson's documentary clearly establishes probable cause and provides much of the evidence needed to convict.
BUSH ORDERS MIERS NOT TO TESTIFY

By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer 24 minutes ago WASHINGTON - President Bush ordered his former White House counsel, Harriet Miers, to defy a congressional subpoena and refuse to testify Thursday before a House panel investigating U.S. attorney firings.
"Ms. Miers has absolute immunity from compelled congressional testimony as to matters occurring while she was a senior adviser to the president," White House Counsel Fred Fielding wrote in a letter to Miers' lawyer, George T. Manning.

Extremists sack EPA scientific libraries
In 642 AD, Omar, Caliph of Baghdad acting under the Islamic extremist General Amrou, ordered the burning of the Great libraries at Alexandria.
Taking a page from history, in 2007 AD, Stehen Johnson, EPA administrator acting under King George W. Bush, has begun closing the EPA scientific libraries, destroying and/or warehousing their documents. The Union of Concerned Scients makes the following immediate request:
Please call EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson at (202) 564-4700 either today or Monday and tell him how much scientists rely on data and literature. Urge him to immediately halt the dismantling of the library system until Congress approves the EPA budget and all materials are readily available online. [link]

What an interesting claim. It was Digby who points us to the Dallas Observer in 1999:
Early on, Rove showed he had the brainpower to go places. His sister remembers that the family used to rely on Rove's photographic memory for evening entertainment. "The game was, 'See if you can stump Karl,'" she says. His older brother Eric would read a passage from a book Karl had read the week before. The challenge was to guess which word his brother had intentionally left out.
I think Rove may be possessed of what my father would refer to as a "convenient forgetter."
Help me with a timeline
Last week a revelation came to light that Georgey actually laid hands on and slapped Karl upside the head when he found out that he was in on the CIA leak , If I'm correct this was back in 03 ?? Wasn't it also in 03 when George got his face marked in a pretzel accident ?? Could it be that the boys got into a little fistacuff while at the ranch , I always thought that passing out on a pretzel was a little far fetched , so C'mon you timeline slueths can we put these two incidents together ??

I have done some research of government stats and came up with some pretty
interesting statistics on trade surpluses and trade
deficits.
From 1940-1970, the US ran 30 straight years of trade
surpluses. The US was a manufacturing Juggernaut.
GDP growth was 8.06% from 1940-1970.
From 1976-2004, the US ran 28 straight years of trade
deficits. GDP growth averaged 6.87% from 1976-2004.
Free traders will argue that inflation should be lower
because of the competition of imports against American
made goods.
Wrong!!! Inflation from 1940-1970 average 3.28%.
Inflation from 1976-2004 average 4.44%.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A push for universal health coverage is being rekindled in some states by the soaring cost of health care and the lack of political support in Washington for federal changes.
Advocates of a single-payer system — where the government would collect taxes and cover everyone, similar to programs in Canada and across Europe — have introduced bills in at least 18 state legislatures. Some are symbolic gestures, but heated debate is taking place in California and Vermont.
In Ohio, doctors, union officials and religious leaders are gathering signatures to get a single-payer health system placed on a ballot next year.
