Impeachment - Congress

No Justice

Happy New Year 2009. No JUSTICE, compliments of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senator Nancy Pelosi of California,as she continues to hold "We the People"and the Democratic People of the United States HOSTAGE. Her refusal to even consider doing the right thing for the American People, even when she has taken an OATH to do just that, she has grossely turned her back on the American People.

Could there be something that has compelled her to refuse to do her duty for "We the People"? How much longer will the Democratic Leaders allow her to play her personal games at the expense of the People?

Her actions seem to be more of the "Bush agenda, MORE OF THE SAME". Not even resembling any CHANGE in Washington.

The longer she stays, the less we change, and the longer the people are left out of our govenment just like the past 8 years. "DO NOTHING FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE'!

1st hearing, impeachment - Repugs can find no defence for Bush

Am watching on C-Span.org right now, and certainly the vast majority of
the panelists are in favor of impeachment (with two notable, and
derisive, exceptions, explained below)

It's good to see the
House Judiciary proceeding as it should, finally, on this matter. If
the Democratically-controlled Congress loses its steam now, the Dems
aren't fit to govern us.

Meanwhile, it was instructive to
watch the Republican Minority fail to find any decent ground to defend
Bush-Cheney, today. The Republican Minority couldn't find a leg to
stand on, and their witnesses came across as either fascist or kooky
(more below).

These panelists, meanwhile, were absolutely fabulous:

Bruce Fein, author of Constitutional Peril (forthcoming)
Bob
Barr, former congressman, presently Libertarian candidate for U.S.
President (deserves our vote more than Obama, who proved a traitor on
FISA)

Lowest congressional approval ratings in history. What are the Dems doing?

Congressional spending is out of control, the country is broke. A war is being wage by polititions not soldiers. Soldiers win! Polititions make us look like idiots. Impeach them all and start over. Pay cuts for congress and higher taxes for all elected officials. Hybrid cars not limos, greyhound not private jets, mandatory drug testing would be a good start for all of them!!!!

Kucinich to Submit Your Impeachment Petitions to Congress

dennis_kucinich.jpgIn a meeting Thursday, July 26th, 2007, members of ImpeachForPeace.org and After Downing Street met with Congressman Dennis Kucinich in his Washington DC office to present the Congressman with thousands of "Do It Yourself Impeachments" collected over the past few months. DIY Impeachment Memorials are actually a little known and rarely used part of the Rules of the House of Representatives ("Jefferson's Manual"), which empowers individual citizens to initiate the impeachment against any federal official themselves. These Memorials support the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney.

A Widening Chasm Between Congressional Democrats and Voters on Impeachment

The divide between Democratic leaders contemplating their re-election prospects in 2008 and rank-and-file Democrats is becoming a chasm--one so wide that Congressional Democrats may soon find it hard to straddle it.

The issue is impeachment.

Religious Freedom

Treason and Impeachable Acts 2007

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Statute_for_Religious_Freedom

-"The imposition of anything on a human mind, which God made to be free, is hypocritical and wrong.
-"Whereas Almighty God hath created the mind free", never coerced anyone to follow him, and the imposition of a religion by government officials is impious.
-The coercion of a person to make contributions -- especially monetary -- to a religion he doesn't support is tyrannical and creates favoritism among ministers.
-Government involvement in religious matters tends to end in the restraint of religion.

It is time to make Bush and Cheney accountable for their crimes!

Happy New Year Howard Dean!

Now that the Democratic Party has taken control of the House & Senate,
they need to carry out the wishes of the people who elected them to
office.
First: Investigate the many crimes committed by Bush and Cheney and hold
them accountable! Expose their false information about why they invaded
Iraq and set a time to re-deploy our troops to Afganistan where they
were suppose to be in the first place. Expose the lies of both Bush and
Cheney and have them impeached!!! This is what the people want you to
do! Take care of the country's business in an honest and practical way.

Congressional Debate on Why Impeachment is Necessary and Healthy for Good Government!

[I]t has been argued that we should not impeach [the President] because we should not hobble future presidents with the possibility they could be impeached for the same thing. [It has been] stated we should not impeach to punish, but rather to preserve the public trust.

Impeaching a president for lying under oath...protect[s] the public trust. Instead of acting presidential and putting the country before his own self-interest, [the President] chose his own self-interest time and time again. By doing so, he undermined the rule of law and violated his oath of office.

This is about a president of the United States lying under oath, undermining our legal process and violating his oath of office. It is about violating Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution, which states the president shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed. [The President's] actions clearly fall under the heading of high crimes and misdemeanors.

Conyers Caves: Impeachment is "off the Table"!

This is from John Conyers's website blog, dated November 15, 2006:

We need to put aside any thought of anger or payback. Instead we need to focus on identifying and correcting abuses and pass legislation which serves the interests of the American people.

[snip]

Having devoted a considerable amount of time and attention to detailing the many abuses of the Bush Administration, I firmly believe that we have brought these matters to the attention of the American people and the mainstream media, and that their verdict was reflected in the elections on November 7.

[snip]

As many of you also know, I have agreed with Speaker-to-be Pelosi that impeachment is off the table. Instead, we agree that oversight, accountability and checks and balances – which have been sorely lacking for the last six years – must occur. I have nothing but respect for those who might disagree, but that is where I come out.

Clarification for the Uses of Impeachment

THERE seems to be some misapprehension about the use of impeachment in government. Impeachment is not the absolute last resort. It is not something that is to be used only when a situation has gotten so far out of hand that it’s almost a irretrievable. It is a tool to be used to keep individuals from committing breaches of public trust in the exercise of their various offices.

When our nation was founded, the founding fathers were well acquainted with the use of absolute power by despots and Kings. Europe was full of them. In forming their new government they were giving enormous power to individuals; power which could be misused if not kept in check. One of those checks was impeachment.
