Terri Schiavo

Bush used Terri !!!

That no good chickenshit mutherfucker GW Bush took advantage of Terri Shiavos' passing this morning !!

In his condolance speech to her families , He managed to merge it into a spin about security and intelligence because the final report came out about WMD , the ticker at the bottom of the TV screen read " U.S.spy agencies flat wrong about WMD's " wasn't it Rumsfeld , Cheney, and Wolfowitz who screamed find something on Iraq ? wasn't it Kay who said they aren't here ? wasn't it Wilson who said there was no nuclear yellow cake deals , No the spy agencies didn't get it wrong , Those Neo-Con bastards who've been screaming for war since 97 have been outted as the war criminals they really are and they've got to throw the blame somewhere and it certainly won't be at themselves , and what a better time to slip in the blame game while the nation mourns the passing of this poor woman , This just makes me sick , My only solice is that when the time comes those fucks will rot in hell !!

may she rest in peace.

Sad and Scary, Hypocrites Rule this Country

If this case was a Capital Punishment issue the Bush brothers would be out front pushing for the execution to take place immediately. The Repugs and the right would be in outrage because of any interference of a death penalty case. Whether guilty or not. It is amazing how our government works, if our government wants to put someone to death they are proud of it, if someone wants to rest in peace it becomes immoral and a legal crisis that is drawn out and nationalized across the country. When it comes to science and medicine, abortion and the right to pass away in peace, our new "immoral, no values" government condemns that, but when our injustice system wants to execute someone, even those that are mentally handicapped, it sometimes becomes a contest. For a country that claims to be the most civilized country in the world, we are not so civilized. In regards to the morals and values argument, I have to say that lying, deception, war crimes, and murder are not real moral, and are not values that anyone should value.

Coulter causes a stir at KU

She's invading my territory now! The only reason I saw this is because a co-worker printed it, cause he loves this stuff.

Now I'm starting to understand some of the comments @ "her" being a "he." She/he even has the nerve to tell the crowd, "I think there are some people in the audience who meant to be at the sexual reorientation class down the hall," in response to some of the hecklers.

They paid her $25,000. Gasp. Someone said it reminded them of Jerry Springer....so maybe they were paying her for the show.

Robert Scheer and the Schiavo Chaos

Robert Scheer writes a column every week at www.robertscheer.com this appeared last week, its from his archive, but it is a wonderful article, if you enjoy his writing you can subscribe to his column on his website.  I have enjoyed his writing.

Life, death and cynical grandstanding

Robert Scheer - Creators Syndicate

03.22.05 - I cannot remember a time when Congress and the president have acted with more egregious political opportunism and shameless trafficking in human misery than last weekend, leaping into the 15-year-long Terri Schiavo saga at the last possible moment as grandstanding defenders of the defenseless.

Coward Bush lets wife explain Schiavo disaster

Tue Mar 29, 6:33 PM ET White House - AP

By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer

MILDENHALL, England - First lady Laura Bush said Tuesday the government was right to have intervened in the case of Terri Schiavo, a severely brain-damaged Florida woman whose case has stirred national debate about life and death issues.

"I just feel like the federal government has to be involved," Mrs. Bush said. "It is a life issue that really does require government to be involved."

Mrs. Bush commented on the Schiavo case aboard a plane bound for Afghanistan, where she was to promote education and women's rights.

Wingnut Panic at The Village Voice

The Village Voice Panics

Man, when the Voice is scared that the GOP can still make hay out of the Schiavo situation despite public opinion, it's time to take a breath. From their Mondo Washington column:

Did the GOP overreach in the Schiavo case? Just as soon as the Supreme Court denied Schiavo a hearing, the Republicans shifted to a new spin. "It was not a partisan issue. It was one of conscience," said Virginia Republican Eric Canter, the deputy chief whip in the House. "People will remember that the majority attempted to address a very difficult situation and did it with a real seriousness of purpose."

Political monopoly leads to bad government

Byron Williams writes:

I realize that the 109th Congress has not been at it long, but I do not feel it premature to question whether we have the makings of bad government.

Since the 109th Congress convened in January, they have passed tort reform legislation that clearly places the interest of multi-national corporations over those of the wrongfully injured or killed. The tort reform passed by this Congress is nothing more than a limitation on the rights of victims.

Team Schiavo's deep pockets

'Following the money' reveals a host of right wing organizations, many affiliated with the right wing Philanthropy Roundtable, abundantly funding the Terri Schiavo case

Bill Berkowitz writes:

The Most Obscene Intrusion by an Outsider Award, however, goes hands down to Randall Terry, the founder of the radical antiabortion group Operation Rescue and the President of the Society for Truth and Justice. Terry was brought on board by Schiavo's parents, who hoped he could mobilize Christian fundamentalist support for their daughter. "Our family asked Randall Terry to come, and we gave him carte blanche to put Terri's fight in front of the American people," Bob Schindler, Terri's father, said. "He did exactly what we asked, and more. Randall organized vigils and protests, he coordinated the media, he helped us meet with Governor Bush."

Respone to Schaivo Circus?

For going on 3 weeks, I sat and watched TV news filled with the shenanigans of the Republicans and the Religious Right over Terry Schaivo. What I want to know is where the hell are the Democrats? The Republican Party is about to implode, but I see nothing, anywhere, that indicates that the Dems are willing to utilize this to their advantage. It's bad enough that there were Dems who actually signed that blatantly un-Constitutional legislation, "Terri's Law", but to sit idly by whilst the Republicans self-destruct, and DO NOTHING is unconscionable.

I've been a registered, voting Democrat for 30+ years, and I've never been more ashamed of my party than I am now. The Religious Right is pushing through their insane ideas for a theocracy, and the Dems are sitting on their hands. Even moderate Republicans are appalled at the behavior of their party over the Schaivo Circus, but the Dems? Not a peep. What's wrong with this picture?
