Does John McCain suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome?

I have to wonder about the mental state of John McCain having been a POW. We all know he has a bad temper. Wouldn't you think he has a lot of "issues" that could affect his judgement about war? Does anyone know anything about PTSS (post traumatic stress syndrome)? I for one would LOVE to see a commercial that brings that possibility into question.

Virgil and Tom faced off for the first time on August 13th in a forum
that demonstrated the wide gap between the two of them - especially
when it comes to immigration policy. Virgil has repeatedly touted his
fence: "There's no way a 12 foot ladder will cross this fence."

A little help of some visual aids would be useful in understanding
Virgil's complex "3 tier" fence policy that was outlined in 5 parts?

Where did Obama's July $51 mil come from? Just curious...

Just would like to know if this $51 million came from large numbers of small contributions? Or has there been a transition toward corporate (corporate-managed personal) large contributions? So I guess I would like to know how many contributors and the average size of contribution, relative to, for example, last February and March?

Are there any published answers to these questions? If so, where? Obviously I am concerned about the direction of the Obama campaign, and the well-worn phrase "follow-the-money" applies here.

Senator Barack Obama,

I realize that you have already endured
much since the start of your campaign for the presidency. Along with
the grueling schedules, lack of sleep, and time away from your family,
you have had to deal with being the target of racial slurs, hateful jokes, untrue attacks on your faith, and even slander against your loved ones. All of us who support your bid for president and many of those who do not condemn such unethical political trash.

I call upon you to recognize in these difficult times that the Obama campaign belongs to its supporters. It belongs to all of us. We want to support what we have seen in you. Maybe it was something we read in one of your books, a rousing speech
you made at a huge rally, or a small commitment you expressed in a more
personal setting. Regardless, we all found something to believe in that
we share. We found a hope for something better in the potential that
you contain and in what we have seen from your best moments. Do not
forget this. Even when you falter you must still be committed to the
steady course of something new, something positive, and something which
makes you capable of inspiring and leading millions.

This needs
to be said in light of McCain deciding recently that there is only one
way for him to defeat you: by drawing you into his mud. Unable to rally
the enthusiasm and hope that you stir in people McCain has decided
instead to take the low road and lash out
at you for inspiring so many to believe in and work for change in their
country. These are McCain's politics, do not let them become yours. Our
country does not need a second McCain campaign, we need something
different, something new, and something better.

I am not asking you to be soft and avoid holding people accountable, asking tough questions, or defending yourself from lies.
I am asking you to not be drawn into the negative campaigning that your
opponent so wishes to see you engage in. There is a difference between
hard politics and dirty politics. Do not become a mudslinger instead of
a "hope monger". Many of us want something different and you are our
best hope for that. Please Sen. Obama, do not walk into the politics of
anger and spite.

Let's Create Our Own Paper Trail ~ Right Now

Since every state won't replace their paperless voting machines before November ~ why not start a campaign to encourage voters to create our own paper trail….by using an absentee ballot? Don't trust mail handling? Complete the ballot at home and deliver personally. My family changed to be permanent absentee (or "vote from home") voters as soon as GWB was illegally installed as President by the Supreme Court. Now our votes can be recounted anytime.

I'm a little surprised that progressive organizations have yet to mount a campaign to encourage voters to bypass politicians and just create their own paper trail with the tools we have right now.

This is one way for people to know that their vote will not only be counted ~ but RE-counted, if necessary. Imagine not having to worry about Diebold machines.

We can create our ballot paper trail ourselves right now, this year, this moment ~ all across America.

Ed Whitfield and the LIvingston Group

For someone that talks so tough on Terror, Ed Whitfield sure doesn't care much about it when money is involved. We have already seen how Ed Whitfield won't let suspected terrorist ties, and criminal activity get in the way of his investments, and now we get another look inside the twisted, hypocritical world of this Kentucky Republican.

Disgraced Congressman Bob Livinston founded a lobbying firm, the Livingston Group after he resigned from Congress. Far from being "tough on terror", this group decided to represent the Lybian regime in Washington, a regime guilty of the cold-blooded murder of 189 American citizens in 1988. This group also raised ethical concerns with their representation of Turkey in Washington after trying to secure a billion American dollars in Turkish aid, even after the Turkish Government refused to allow American troops to use Turkish soil as a staging point for the invasion of Iraq.

As it turns out, this group has been very friendly to Kentucky Republicans, including Exxon Ed Whitfield. Of course, when you recieve over$10 million in Turkish contributions, you have plenty to spread around. Unfortunately, the Turkish government didn't come off of this money for nothing, as Livingston helped kill an amendment that sought to recognize the Armenian Genocide which occured from 1915 to 1923.

Of course, since Exxon Ed Whitfield had recieved money from the Livinston group, he opposed the amendment to recognize the genocide. Here is Exxon Ed Whitfield, bought and paid for by the Turkish government, via the Livingston Group opposing the amendment:

The citizens of Kentucky's First Congressional District need a representative that fights for our interests, not one that is for sale to the highest bidder, no matter who it may be. All Exxon Eddie's talk about being "tough on terror" is just that, talk. Sometimes terror pays more.

	Roy Carter calls for Real Solutions to Energy Crisis
	This week, in the aftermath of the tragic oil spill on the Mississippi River, Democratic nominee for Congress Roy Carter called for his opponent to stop her political games and actually work to end America’s energy crisis. Carter’s opponent has supported legislation proposing more drilling in our nation’s environmentally protected areas, and now co-sponsors a bill that would allow Big Oil companies to endanger the Alaskan Wilderness by drilling for more profits. "She has misconstrued the truth by saying that these moves would solve our problems, bringing the price of gasoline down and making our nation energy independent," stated Carter. However, Foxx’s political maneuvers would do nothing for the average American while helping to create more profits for Big Oil. "Most folks remember the spill of the Exxon Valdez very well. Now, with yet another oil spill on the Mississippi there can be no secret that drilling can take a high toll on our environment. As the most recent oil spill endangers the water supplies of many communities along the Mississippi River, we must simultaneously pray for those affected and come to recognize that we can not drill our way out of this problem," proclaims Roy Carter. Congressional inaction has brought record gas prices to the wallet of people all over the 5th District. "In Congress, I will put people above partisan politics, and work to lower gas prices by focusing on alternative energies and fighting the Big Oil companies and their record-breaking profits," says Carter. Carter went on to comment on one of his opponent’s recent votes. "Yet again, this week my opponent proved that she is actually invested in seeing our oil prices remain high." HR 6515, the Drill Responsibly in Leased Lands Act of 2008, contained language aimed at producing crude oil quickly from the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska. "While there are few quick fixes to the situation placed upon us by my opponent and her friends in the White House, one thing we must do to bring down the price of energy is increase domestic supply and wean ourselves off of foreign oil. Oil and gas companies currently hold leases to 68 million acres of federal land and the Outer Continental Shelf on which they are sitting on their laurels" Roy Carter said. In a Press Release last Thursday, Rep. Steny H. Hoyer said, "The DRILL Act speeds up the leasing process in the NPR-A. It ensures that Alaskan oil will fill American gas tanks. It calls on the president to speed up the completion of Alaskan oil and gas pipelines so the products will get to market sooner. And it tells the oil companies: 'Drill on the leases you have, or let somebody else do it, but don't just sit on them while Americans are paying $4/gal [for gasoline]. Use it or lose it.'" Hoyer insisted. "My opponent has demonstrated by her voice, vote, investments and associations that she stands for big oil and record profits at the expense of everyday Americans. I do not. We won’t see real change in our gas prices until we invest in alternative energies and get the oil folks out of Washington," said Roy Carter.

I actually saw it for the first time on TV the other night and I thought it was really an eye-catching ad in which Alan talks about just how much money has gone missing in Iraq and how he has been working to recover tax dollars through his whistleblower lawsuits for waste fraud and abuse. I thought the ad had a lot of energy and avoided the usual political clichés that voters tune out.
