Upcoming ElectionsBuilding a real opposition party, Obama & beyondI am looking for others interested in building a permanent campaign for a more effective Democratic Party, one that is active year round to educate voters and fight for them. We have barely begun to form a Progressive Democrats of America chapter here in Santa Clara County. We want to create a space where people can come and work, whether they want to work on local campaigns and candidates, or on building a real infrastructure for change and progress, one that does not shrug it's shoulders, kick out the volunteers and close the doors after every election. This will be a long haul, but the reward will be a more connected and active progressive Democratic Party. If you are interested, you can find our chapter listed as South Bay Area of San Francisco on the PDA website. thanks! Laura M www.pdamerica.org/statecaucus.php?s=CA Republicans Brought US the Great Depression, TooMost people don’t know it was the Republicans that brought us the Great Depression, too. Barack should lay it all out in one neat package, bring it all together something like in the article linked here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/richard-white/you-republicans-brought-u_b_133272.html
Help Make HistoryRoy Carter is tied in his race to unseat Virginia Foxx, who took over for Richard Burr. He's running in the most conservative district in North Carolina, and his opponent Foxx called ALL Democrats "Godless Socialists." If it's true that anyone, regardless of income or social status, can run for national political office in this country then this man should be elected and I encourage you to take the time to read about him, and possibly support a school teacher's bid for congress by having him on the show for a few minutes, with Jim Dean, the brother of the party chairman. His name is Roy Carter, who's running an amazing campaign for U.S. Congress in NC-05, and in full disclosure I'm his Political Director.
VIRGINIA, VIRGINIA, VIRGINIA
My prediction for this year election is Virginia, Virginia, Virginia
Obama has 264 electorates now on the screen, with Virginia 13, that would mean 277 So at 5:45pm Pacific time, when Virginia goes for Obama, then I know he has won The rest of the states such as OH, FL,WV, MO,CO are icing on the cake, and would be almost a landslide.
I am Wahoo, and I really approve this message
PBS has a pollPBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin is qualified. Apparently the right wing knew about this in advance and are flooding the voting with YES votes.
Changing procedures at polling booths to create long linesI am a poll worker in NYC. Our training was changed, and if followed to the letter, would create long lines. The old way was to issue a card to each voter to wait on a line creating two comfortable lines. If challenged that voter could step aside and not hold up other voters, then sign the challenge oath. The NEW way is to hold that card on the table. Logistically it creates a lot problems.
"Ya can't blink, Charlie"Has anyone else noticed McCain's rapidly blinking eyes when he is speaking? I noticed this quite a while ago. My daughter just told me that she heard Jon Stewart mention it! The ratio of his blinks, compared to my own blinking is 12:1 and sometimes 15:1 What do you think about that...H-M-M?
Obama should argue that the Sunni Awakening and ethnic cleansing, not the surge, are the main reasons violence is down in IraqI watched Obama's segment on 60 Minutes tonight. When asked about the success of the surge, he fell into the same trap that always gets him. He acknowledged that our troops have done a great job quelling the violence and changed the subject. He has to develop a more compelling approach to the surge. SubtrifugeI am highly worried that the democratic party, media, and the country as a whole cold not see Sarah Palin for what she really is; subtrifuge. She was the superb choice, purposefully, publically, undervetted and underinvestigated and chosen for one purpose, and shes doing her job very well. She was put in the way of John McCain to make sure that the entire focus of the election campaigne from that day forth was all eyes on Palin. The democratic party and media dropped the ball and took off after the frisby like a dog in the park for the first time. Happy to have something so inticing to bite into they bit, and now cant let go. McCain can now say and do anything and nobody will notice, he will enjoy full unbidden anamosity for the rest of the campaigne standing at the pulpit waving and smiling out at us looking for all the world like Eisenhower come to life to lead us to glorious days again. A vote for McCain is a no-bid contract with the Devil! The ONLY vote that stands a chance in hell of removing the plague of murdering neo-cons that infests our government is a vote for Barack Obama. Period. Waste your vote on a third party if you wish, or simply save fuel by not voting. It's all the same. Independent? Your nation needs you! Nader nut? Time to wash the blood off your hands! REPUBLICAN? For God's sake, people! You most of all have seen neo-cons devastate your core beliefs! Look at what neo-cons have done! They make war for empire! They borrow money from our enemies to conduct said war. They trample on Constitutional rights? They have made government bigger than it has ever been! Wake up! John McCain has hired many of the neo-cons that got Bush elected. Can you not see that McCain has drifted into the grasp of the neo-cons? Folks, if McCain wins, it's going to be more of the same. |
