I just finished reading the latest Nation piece about Barack Obama's deep ties to the so-called "neoliberal" hawks of the Clinton era. As progressive journalists, we're wrestling with how to best leverage Obama toward more progressive policies. But his advisers scoff at the idea of downsizing the Pentagon budget, and he still sees the world through the narrow blinders of the imperial dominancy. He's trapped in the paradigm of winners and losers, supremacy or decline, that got us into this mess.

I welcome the thoughts of fellow activists on how we, the progressive media, should handle Obama. So far, we've been pretty gentle.
