Criminal Contempt

The Tulsa World story of 7/26/07, "Panel acts to cite two Bush advisers", reports
the House Judiciary Committee voted to begin criminal contempt proceedings...
That committee is barking up the wrong tree. The party guilty of contempt is George Bush. The President is undermining the Legislative Branch of government with signing statements that essentially say he will ignore parts of laws he doesn't like. Add to this, extreme claims of executive privilege and the Legislative Branch becomes a shadow of it's former self. In parallel, the President has politicized the Judiciary Branch, firing judges that do not pursue his goals. The result is a government with little power outside the Executive Branch, no representation of the people in the Legislature and little protection of the people from the Judiciary. If this translation of our system of government is allowed to continue we will have taken a giant step toward the type of government long in existence in Russia and many other governments we dismiss as Dictatorships.
