Sean Penn received the 2006 Christopher Reeve First Amendment Award from The Creative Coalition on December 18, 2006, in New York City, and called for impeachment.
As we all know, Penn was absolutely right in opposing the war in Iraq before it began, and came under withering assault from FOX and the FOX-wannabees at NBC, CNN, CBS, and ABC. Will the TV networks make amends to Penn? Will he be interviewed about Iraq and impeachment by Tim Russert, George Stephanopoulos, Brian Williams, Katie Couric, Larry King, Bill O'Reilly, Chris Matthews, and the rest of the talking heads? Let's ask them!
Here's an excerpt from Penn's speech:
They tell us we lost 3,000 Americans on 9/11. Is that enough? We're about to match it. We're within weeks, if not less, of killing 3,000 Americans in Iraq. I ask Speaker Pelosi, can we put impeachment on the table then? Without former FEMA chief Mike Brown being held accountable, post Katrina (scapegoat though he may have been) we'd have had the same chaos and neglect when Rita hit Houston. Think about it. And, the same people who trumpet deterrence as a justification for punishment when we speak of "crime and punishment," will boast their positive thinking when dismissing the deterrent qualities of an impeachment proceeding.
What is impeachment? It's not a Democratic versus Republican event. Not if used responsibly. If the House of Representatives votes to impeach this president, is he thrown out of office? No, he is not thrown out of office. That is not what impeachment is. Impeachment is the opportunity to proceed with accountability and give our elected senators, democratic and republican, the power to pursue a thorough investigation. The power to put the truth on the table. Mothers and fathers are losing their kids to horrifying deaths in this war every single day. Horrible deaths. Horrible maimings. Were crimes committed in enlisting the support of our country in this decision to go to war? For the moment we're living the most spineless of scenarios; where the hawks abused impeachment eight years ago, now, the rest of us politely refuse to use it today. Let's give the whistle-blowers cover, let's get the subpoenas out there, and then, one by one, put this administration under oath. And then, if the crimes of "Treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors" are proven, do as Article 2, Section 4 of the United States Constitution provides, and remove "the President, Vice President and...civil officers of the United States" from office. If the Justice Department then sees fit to bunk them up with Jeff Skilling, so be it.

Impeachment Could Be The End of Middle East War
Bush is dogged about winning against
somebody in Iraq. My question is how did we go from hot pursuit of the terrorists who committed the 9-11 atrocities to
burning cars in Yellowstone Park or the
war in Iraq. Bush, after Afghanistan has behaved like Carie Stayner and operated like a madman who cannot get over a family tragedy the loss of the Presidency in 1992 over perceived weakness in Iraq.
Impeachment or the War Powers Act would compel the government or the Executive Branch to be more objective in formulating policy in Iraq and Afghanistan. A military solution is not to be found and the rats are still in their holes as Bush phrases it.
American arrogance
'I do respect and appreciate the fact that we'd have absolutely nothing for us here in this country if someone hadn't ever come over and clobbered a bunch of Indians. It's as God intended.'
As every tragic maiming and killing done by this "American' policy is divinely intended, any scourge by others towards the U.S. is not?
Everytime something bad happened to anyone ever is and always has been attributed to 'gods' will. So in your reasoning so are all things , including 9/11 and all tragic events, correct?
Do you honestly believe that the herding and killing of millions of true "Americans" by European s that could not stand being forced to conform, justifies the the "great battles" of the 'American" army of expansionism, whose leaders signature on treaties was not worth the ink and paper it was written on was "gods" will, because they did not want to conform?
My grandfather was one of those who refused to be herded as was his father. Our family still feels the pain of the "great battles" of the American army of occupation in North America.
Just as then, the "American" government can not and will not share the world. The idea that the whole world will bow to the U.S. at best arrogant and surely stupid.
Your distorted view of "American" policy, both past and present is the root of our nations arrogance that will only lead to American hatred abroad.

Penn on impeachment
Isn't it interesting that a Hollywood movie actor will say what no one in Congress will?
Impeach all of them for all of their crimes
Now that the Democrats won, it is time to impeach all gov't officials responsible for rountinely violating our Constitutional rights.
They violate the 1st Amendment by caging demonstrators and banning books like "America Deceived" from Amazon.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov't.
Fix up that and while you are at it, investigate 9/11 a bit more thoroughly. Or we'll impeach you.

America Deceived (book)
Who's on who's side?
Is it just me or does anybody else see what I'm seeing? We look at 911 as a terriost act and it was, but not 1 person came from either country we have invaded. So we attacked and are trying to take over 2 countries that are innocent of 911, which actually I think was an inside job but even if they were telling the truth, not 1 person was from either country! Looking back through history did not Hilter, Alexander the great and other tyrants do the same for money, power? That would make us terriorists would it not? Innocent is a 2 way street and knowing this now count how many people have died and 911 that had nothing to do with it. That puts all those that have died, been crippled or damaged on both sides victims not of 911 but of our own government. Forced freedom is not freedom, it is communism at best. And what of the kids we have that have died and been crippled for a lie?
Why is the American people having to argue with our new Democrats to uphold our laws? Are they in support of the same agenda, sure looks like it. Our very basis we formed this country on has been violated, your and my rights. I gotta admit, I was a Democrat but after seeing what is going on, has gone on I am just an American. I see no difference in the two parties or the ones they have created, I hear "we are hear to protect you" yet they strip away the very foundation of this once great country to protect me from people that have never harmed us. Hitler worked it about the same calling the people "Sheeple". My grandfather fought in WW2 and when I asked him about the German people being bad he said no, they for the most part wasn't bad they were fooled into thinking Hitler and the government was good until it was too late. I was told that in the early 70s. Those getting the news from TV are not too bright, TV is to entertain you not educate you so I didn't even know that Penn was attacked and those expecting an apology from puppets need to turn off the TV and apply that time to something useful. We the people have power left, just stop using products (TV included) that are part of the problem.
If we have to fight with the new representives to do their job then we are no better off than before. Yes we sent a message on the vote but appently it was either Not Heard or Ignored. If we allow this to continue we deserve everything we get but our children deserve so much better than us because we are ignorant and cowardly. If the new ones elected will not challenge the problems then maybe they too should be impeached as well.
"We must do what we conceive to be the right thing and not bother our
heads or burden our souls with whether we will be successful. Because
if we don’t do the right thing, we will be doing the wrong thing and
we will just be a part of the disease and not a part of the cure."
(E. F. Schumacher - Author of 'Small Is Beautiful')
Impeach Bush
Sean Penn is right to stand up against the wrongs' of this administration.
When sworn in as president, Bush swore he would uphold the constitution. He hasn't and should be impeached for that alone. Went to war knowing Iraq had 'no weapons of mass destruction,' which is another reason to impeach him.
Let's face it; this man doesn't care what the people of United States want, only what W. wants.
He even joked (though I believe he meant it)that he wouldn't mind a dictatorship in the United States as long as he was the dictator. Our country deserves a real president and that is not George W. Bush.
America's future unless somebody does something now.
