RightBlogs Turn Against Bush - Is This the End of the GOP?
The debacle in Lebanon has turned rightwing blogs against George Bush, and as Glenn Greenwald documents, it ain't pretty.
Here's Michelle Malkin:
Israel and the West surrender to Hizballah.
Terrorists and the U.N. win.
Israel and the US have been defeated. Hizballah will grow emboldened. As will Iran.
The Bush we know would not have pulled the trigger on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He abdicated the hard decisions in favor of political maneuvering and meaningless gestures.
As for me? I've moved on. The first administration of the first century of the American Third Millennium will, in my estimation, be remembered as one of the biggest failures of that century. Bush's great failure was, not invading Iraq, but not weathering the adversity that followed through acts of real leadership, and then pressing on with the necessary military destruction of the other regimes he, himself, named as most dangerous five years ago.
I'm hoping we can get through the next two years without any major disasters, and then I'm looking to elect a real war leader to the White House - somebody with a warrior's temperament and a leader's skills. George Bush has neither. He is a dangerous failure, and America will be well rid of him.
Greenwald makes the obvious point that RightBlogs had previously insisted that "attacking the Commander-in-Chief during a time of war" helps The Terrorists and emboldens our enemies.
Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthammer both said this weekend on Fox that Hezbollah won and Iran has been strengthened. Attacks on the Commander-in-Chief and proclamations of American defeat are ubiquitous - among the same group that insisted for the last five years that such attacks are dangerous and wrong and that talk of American defeat helps the terrorists.
Aren't terrorists going to be so happy to see that Americans are divided in this way? Doesn't it make us less safe for all of these people to be branding the U.S. as weak losers and to be glorifying the strength and power of our enemies? Don't these people realize that we're in a war and that weakening the Commander-in-Chief with such criticisms and declaring American defeat endangers all of us?
But apart from the grotesque (but utterly consistent) hypocrisy of RightBlogs, there's a crucial political fact here: ever since Hurricane Katrina one year ago, Bush's only political support has come from rightwing ideologues, led by RightBlogs.
The RightBlogs have kept Bush's polls from falling under 30%. But if this week's attacks on Bush from RightBlogs continue, Bush's polls will fall into the 20's.
Similar polling forced Richard Nixon to resign in August of his sixth year. Of course, Nixon was dealing with a serious impeachment investigation led by House Democrats, while Bush's Republican lapdogs won't even hold a single hearing on Bush's innumerable crimes.
But even before the Lebanon fiasco, Bush's dismal polls threatened an anti-Republican tsunami in November. If post-Lebanon RightBlog anger leads Republican voters to stay home - or worse, to vote for Democrats - we could see the end of the Republican Party as we know it.
So here's my advice to the RightBlogs: now that you've planted your knives deep into Bush's back... keep turning!

The GOP is in its last throes of death
I believe the Republican party will not last the century -- by far. I don't even think it will last another half century or even quarter century.
It is committing its own suicide right now. All the loud puss-filled screaming, chest thumping, ass-strutting, and gnashing of teeth coming from them is because somewhere down deep in them, they KNOW they are doomed. But they are giving it all they got first before they fall into the pit. A inevitable end for an unviable party.
And soon the democratic
And soon the democratic party will make a comeback.
The conservanazi republikans will...
turn more rabid, and more authoritarian. Looking for the "leader". I believe the repulikans will reinvent themselves as the new "nazis", which is what they are. The old money Republicans have been sickened by the takeover of the party by the extremist wing of the party.... the phony evangelical "christians" and neo-nazi cons.
It will inflict harm on this country that I will hope will remind people for centuries that conservative republikans are NAZIS IN DISGUISE. Never again to be a political party. ;)
We are beginning to see how the rabid true believers attack their great and brilliant fearless military genius. I say, keep up the attacks. Americans need to rid itself of this scum. I hope they keep it up until November. Soon, the bu$h regime will flub it's dub again. There is a God out there.
Don't you just love it when a plan comes together. ;)
BUCK FUSH !!!
Radical RW-Blogs
To be perfectly truthful, I will be walking on egg-shells until the Bush-cabal are (all) out of government and no longer hold power.
I have been expecting to see a "New Pearl Harbor" at any time now before elections, when Congressional control could be wrestled away from the PNAC-cabal (Bush-Admin), with possibility of impeachment followed with Fed-trials.
I have no doubt that this next election will look like a Mafia exercise or CIA double-twist as used to set up 3rd World regimes.
These are (not) normal people, they are mentally twisted to the point that absolutely anything is possible, and I mean anything.
I agree...
I think we will all breath a sigh of relief when Bush and his cronies are behind bars...serving time for War crimes and going against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Its going to take alot of Democrats to do that...even over the bloody screams of the Limbaughs, Hannities, Coulters, O'Reilly's and Fox News Types.
"Itadakimasu!"
Desperation runs rampant
Pretty soon, we will see blatant grabs for power. No cuddly excuses, just naked aggression
