Rachel Maddow is worried the statute of limitations will expire for some of Bush's most heinous crimes - including torture. Daphne Eviatar says Rep. John Conyers has proposed extending the statute of limitations. Eviatar also says granting immunity to torturers to testify before a Truth Commmission would violate our international obligations. Eviatar wrote a great article about the controversy over a Truth Commission.

Update 1: Speaking of Truth Commissions, Eviatar wants to know if John McCain would support one. McCain was AWOL when Sen. Levin proposed a similar investigation in 2005.
Here's my prediction after watching McCain's despicable flip-flop on torture: McCain will only support a Truth Commission if it is rigged to give immunity to CIA torturers - the very same people McCain carefully immunized through the Military Commissions Act.

Don't simply stay quite
It will be a shame if we, the public, has to keep reminding our leadership to keep a keen eye on the statues of limitations on these hot topics.
We are also aware that OUR leadership does not necessarily have us as their first priority. Hopefully, the new adminstration will stay in touch with the American people's concerns.
