Hey Pollsters: Quit Censoring Impeachment!
Seven months have passed since we began politely asking Corporate Media pollsters to include impeachment questions in their polls.
Our campaign began after a Zogby poll released on 6/30/05 found 42% of Americans supported impeachment if Bush lied about Iraq, and John Zogby himself said "It was much higher than I expected."
Despite our efforts, every media pollster has refused to include an impeachment question (unless we paid for it). The few that have bothered to reply to our letters (like Richard Morin of the Pentagon Post) have basically told us to go "Cheney" ourselves. (Hat tip to Media Matters for their outstanding follow-up work on this effort.)
We first laughed about it. Now, four waves into this campaign,we are annoyed. Really, really annoyed.
Some free advice: You do your cause no service by organizing or participating in such a campaign. It is viewed by me and others with the same scorn reserved for junk mail. Perhaps a bit more.
Apparently pollsters believe they are Gods who can enjoy the Olympian sport of "measuring" public opinion without ever actually listening to... the public.
In the past two weeks, most of these pollsters have released new data. And every single poll shows a steep drop in Bush's approval rating.
And as Bush's polls have plummeted, talk of impeachment has soared. It made the cover of The Nation and Harper's Magazine, and picked up celebrity endorsements from Richard Dreyfuss and Garrison Keillor. And Rep. John Conyers' bill for a Watergate-style Select Committee to investigate impeachable offenses (H.Res. 635) now has 27 co-sponsors.
In fact, Bush's falling polls (in red below) look a lot like Mr. Watergate himself (in yellow). (Those blue dots you see sailing off into happy retirement belong to Bill Clinton, of course.)
With Bush's polls this low, there can only be two reasons why the Corporate Media refuses to ask about impeachment:
- Because they hate Democrats, and/or
- Because Karl Rove has ordered their editors to censor any serious discussion of impeachment.
It's time for the solid majority of Americans who want Bush impeached to stop taking this Republican crap from the Corporate Media. It's time to tell them to stop censoring the truth and to include an impeachment question in every poll from now until Bush is impeached - and imprisoned!
We have all of their email addresses here. We've been patient for too long - let's give 'em hell!

Please do not delay the impeachment proceedings of President George W. Bush.
Quit Censoring Impeachment!
There are movements throughout the United States to impeach President Bush. However, the media is ignoring to this important news and giving the public another reason to ignore the major media outlets.

I don't know what
I don't know what "medication" you're on, but you should either triple the dose, or stop taking it altogether.
My post was edited
because I'm a stupid republican and I made what could be construed as a threat against the POTUS for the second time today.
Interesting view for a Republican
I don't think you'll find takers to this comment. I, for one, don't believe in the death penalty, even for treason.
That being said, I suprised that someone from the "Pro Life Party" would get so excited about the culture of death.

I banned you once for this
this is the second time. Don't come back and post that crap again.
While some of us could be considered miracle workers...
there is nothing we can do about your stupidity.
Hmmm...must be genetic.
Hey Hey Hey
Without this idiot's post it looks like you guys are talking to me.

Impeachment
I disagree with Bob Fertik's explanation of why the corporate media refuses to conduct opinion polls about impeachment. It's not because they "hate Democrats" or are taking orders from Karl Rove. The corporate media are basically elitist institutions who deffer to goverment officials or corporate funded think tanks on the boundries of political debate. They rarely care about what grassroots activists have to say unless these views are shared by people in the goverment.Which means they won't take it seriously unless top politicians do.
Wrong. The MSM is owned and
Wrong. The MSM is owned and operated by the same corporate interests that fund the PNAC neoconservatives. The term "free press" has become a joke, and even the few remaining ethical journalists' contributions are often relegated to the back pages.
The corporate-owned media will do what is best for their profits, with little regard to their Constitutional duty to act as a "fourth" branch of government.
Today's MSM does indeed practice government-sponsored censorship. Just as this current administration is paying the Iraqi MSM to plant favorable stories, they also pay (through tax breaks and other questionable moves) the US media to "cooperate."
