On 5/10/07, Rep. Jim Cooper betrayed the voters and troops of Tennessee's 5th Congressional District by voting to continue George Bush's disastrous Iraq War forever.

Democrats.com is looking for an "aggressive progressive" Democrat who will challenge Cooper in a Democratic primary in 2008.

The War

Please help me...

What can I do to help???

Time for a change

It is time for Cooper to be replaced along with Tanner and Gordon. I would be glad to support and work for any viable candidate to help get these Blue Dogs out of office.
The work of the people should be done by real people and should not be a career positon. We need to seriously consider term limits for the Congress to keep a fresh perspective by our legislators. If you spend more than 10 years in office, you seem to lose sight of how the common people live anymore.

No Kidding

I like some of the things Jim Cooper does, but time and time again, he has disappointed me by being on the wrong side of key issues such as the war and spying on americans.

I second the offer to support and work hard for a progressive challenger to Mr. Cooper.

Jim Cooper--Record needs full review

Like junglefreak, I bear no great animosity toward Cooper. As a "local" representative, he has been responsive.

But is he a representative fit for fighting in the trenches? Supporting a costly war for no good reason other than "we're in it" is disturbing.

This war is the main reason our economy is shot to hell, not to mention Bush's refusal to reprimand corporate powers that rip off American citizens.

Can we post his voting record here?

Bought and paid for

Like so many others in todays Congress, Mr Cooper has been bought by Corporate America. His future plans to remain a politician has made him decide that Corporate America is his first priority now. He thinks he can jump on the Corporate Express, like so many other politicans, and follow their agenda and not have to to make any decisions that his constituants want and need. I beleive that Mr Cooper needs to be replaced also. He feels that he has found a political comfort zone, provided by Corporate America.
Mr Cooper has had some good service times, I personally don't have any vendatta's with him. It's a simple matter of truth and facts, he has abandoned his representation for the people in the fifth district, in favor of Corporate America, in major issues that effects all of us.
