On 5/10/07, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords betrayed the voters and troops of Arizona's 8th Congressional District by voting to continue George Bush's disastrous Iraq War forever.
Democrats.com is looking for an "aggressive progressive" Democrat who will challenge Giffords in a Democratic primary in 2008.

Democrats Cave-In to Bush on Iraq war Funding
I am outraged the Ms Giffords (supposedly a Democrat) voted to give Bush a blank check for the war in Iraq...Does not she read or view the data that states that a vast majority of Americans oppose this war and want it stopped and our troops returned home...what are your reasons for going against the will of the American people? I surely would like to know. You are running for re-election and as of right now, I WILL NOT be voting for you...what a mess!!

Count me as another Democrat in her district that will definitely not be voting for Ms. Giffords. The only way to end this war is to stop funding it! In 2006 I may have been impelled by party loyalty to vote for her after my primary choice did not garner enough votes but this time if it's a choice between her, a Republican and my cat, I'm writing in my cat's name. He can't possibly disregard the wishes of the vast majority of Ms. Giffords' Democratic constituents more than she has.
Giffords caves too
Although I didn't vote for Gabrielle Giffords in the primary, I did in the General Election. I've been e.mailing her petitions and letters. At first, her responses were specific letters agreeing with me. Recently all her e.mail responses have been computerized.. ("received your e.mail....thank you...blah blah blah..."). Has she gone into hiding? Unfortunately, I've come to believe that she drank some of the "Kool-Aid" the Republicans are passing around D.C. Initially, I thought one day she'd make a great replacement for McCain; now, I'm hoping to get her out of there and put in someone who understands their paychecks come from their constituents.

We had at least five candidates in addition to Giffords in the Democratic primary in CD 8 last year. In my opinion she was the least qualified and any of the others would have been a better choice. My personal choice was Jeff Latas and I believe he will have a good chance to defeat Giffords in the 2008 primary should he choose to run.

If folks want a chance to question Rep. Giffords without a big per plate change or "suggested" donation, come to Drinking Liberally in Tucson on 7/5/7 starting at 6pm at the Shanty on 4th Ave and 9th Street. Giffords will be there to freely converse with the public.

I first contacted gabriel about the need to impeach. I recieved a letter saying she felt it not a good idea. I have seen several tv shows of authors saying it's going to take a congressman with back bone to finally be outraged enough to start impeachment proceedings. Two months ago I watched a photo opprotunity of bush running the track with two amputees from iraq war, one with both legs gone, the other missing one leg. The video said to me, "see I've done nothing wrong. They can run, keep up with me, and are willing to play with me, so all is well. I WAS OUTRAGED! I called Giffords office and related this story to the person on the phone. I then ask if that is enough to outrage Giffords to start impeachment proceedings. I was't given the courtesy of even a reply letter, in otherwords I was totally ignored. Perhaps she needs to be reminded SHE REPRESENTS US, by voteing her out of office and get a representative that represents! FEEL FREE TO contact me for help on any organized efforts to replace her.
