Pelosi's Nutty Argument Against Impeachment
On Wednesday, Speaker Pelosi had a blogcall with progressive bloggers to which I was not invited. That's too bad, because no one seems to have challenged her answer to a question about impeachment. From Jeralyn's notes:
"I oppose impeachment. We have to use our energies to end this war. The popular support is not there, there will be no Republican votes to go forward....George Bush is just not worth it."
She listed the Democrats' priorities:
- protect our country and constititutional rights. End war in Iraq.
- how we grow our economy
- care for our children, aged 0 to 5
- preserve our planet
- strengthen our democracy through transparency, fiscal accountability, highest ethical standards.
If we get this accomplished in next few months, we will do more for our own re-election and then get a Democrat elected in 2008.
One of our main arguments for impeachment is that Democrats will never "get this accomplished" while Bush is in the White House.
1. How can Democrats protect our Constitutional rights when Bush is flagrantly defying them and adamantly refuses to comply with black-letter law like FISA? How can Democrats end the war in Iraq when Bush adamantly refuses to change his war strategy?
2. How can Democrats grow our economy when Bush wants to make his debt-exploding tax cuts for the rich permanent?
3. How can Democrats care for our young children when Bush corrupts every single program in the "Unitary Executive?"
4. How can Democrats preserve our planet when the Bush-Cheney Administration is of, by, and for the oil companies?
5. How can Democrats strengthen our democracy when every part of it has been corrupted by "loyal Bushies"?
The only way for Democrats to "get this accomplished" is to get Cheney and Bush out of the White House through impeachment.
Speaker Pelosi, haven't you figured that out yet?

George Bush is just not worth it???
Nancy Pelosi doesn't get it. That's evident from her statement that George Bush isn't worth it. Impeachment isn't about George Bush or Richard "Shotgun" Cheney. They are only office holders.
Impeachment is about upholding the Constitution. It's the mechanism our founding folks left us - "A republic, if you can keep it" - to correct acts that are high crimes and misdemeanors, like sending our courageous military to invade another sovereign nation under false pretenses, to name only one.
We, the People, will have to lead the legislators to do their Constitutional duty to investigate and impeach if warranted. It is apparent that the vast majority are polluted by the corporate lobbyists.
Just how does Speaker Pelosi intend to meet her fifth objective: to "strengthen our democracy through transparency, fiscal accountability, highest ethical standards" while circumventing her sworn duty to uphold the Constitution as she simultaneously claims that "impeachment is off the table?"
Set the table, Nancy! Stop embarrassing yourself!
Four Words Nancy: "Is America Worth It?
Pay attention people, she is showing her weakness for a struggle against the powers that be. Our priority should be her priority.
Nancy snap out of it, it is time to be the SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE AND BRING UP THE IMPEACHMENT!
If you don't have the stomach for it, get out of the way and let the People's Voice be heard. Dennis is not nutzo, and neither is Hagel, Conyers or McKinney.
The People will have their say and will overcome your weak knees, when it comes to leadership. Think Joan of Arch without the flames.
Lead, leader. Speak Speaker.
Let the People's voice ring in the Senate Chamber, like the Church Bells of Justice, they are.
Our Voices will not be Silenced.
Speak now or forever look for your Place in Congress. We need a Grisly Grandma, so growl.
Get the People's House in Order!

can't be off the table
Nancy cannot take "impeachment off the table." It is not hers to take off or put on--it is part of the Constitution.
Impeachment is "on the table" as long as there is a constitution. So, my advice is to hurry--before Bush gets to that
paragraph and deletes it.
She need to learn how to Crack the Whip and
Tame these beasts in House. She needs to feel her oats and know we approve of impeachment Now.
Doesn't she know htat Justice for the American People is the first thing on the table because of lives and reputation lost.
Nancy, Nancy, Nancy, no one is above the law. George broke a very bad law and is doing very bad things with his buddies on the Hill. He is masequering our family members who serve to protect our American Arse. If he gets them all killed, (except for the inexperienced) who save us from them?
Get up out your rocker Granny, and act like Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies and kick some Ass for the PEOPLE, damnit.
GRRRRRR!

Nancy Pelosi very out of touch
For some reason, Nancy Pelosi is under this out-of-touch delusion that the Public thinks Dick Cheney is a popular figure who they do not want removed from office.
She is woefully wrong.
Dick Cheney has no credibility with the public on any issue and the public knows that he is a War-Profiteer and a genocidal, War-Mongering liar that deserves no respect and no right to hold office.
The idea that Impeachement is unpopular with the public either is totally misinformed or a fraudulent construct altogether. Conversely, it would show the whole World at large and our Country that the Democratic Party is the moral Party. It would be a tremendous show of high principle and strength. There is no "culture-of-life" (anywhere on the planet) as long as Dick Cheney inhabits the White House and directs U.S. Foreign Policy.
What is so surprising here is that Nancy Pelosi is not some Representative from Kansas or Missisippi, but from California. Haven't the people of California themselves already made it clear to Nancy Pelosi that the public wants Impeachment and demands Impeachment?
Finally, all the lofty goals that Nancy Pelosi talks about are, in fact, impossible as long as Dick Cheney occupies the White House. George W. Bush doesn't do anything unless it is met with approval by Dick Cheney. There will be no end to the Iraq War and no end to the Constitutional abuses and no end to the "Unitary Executive" approach to making War and misusing our own Military until Dick Cheney is removed from office.
It is time people get right in Nancy Pelosi's face and march, protest, camp out in front of her office, and demand that she support H.R. 333 and the Impeachment of Dick Cheney.
Let Pelosi hear you loud and clear repeatively, over and over, until she drops her absurd "Republican-talking-points" based arguments for Dick Cheney to continue to remain in Office.
Like a second Duck Hunting episode, Dick Cheney will sink like a stone if real charges are exposed and brought against him for the World to see. And with the 2008 Elections fast approaching, even some GOP members will not want to attach themselves to that War Profiteer any longer if they want to maintain any credibility with the public. This is, in fact, the best way to back them up against the wall right before the Elections.
Let Pelosi hear you!
Here's how you can do that.
House Speaker Pelosi's office is taking calls
for Impeachment of Bush/Cheney at 202-225-0100.
Please make a call. Thanks you.

pelosi and impeachment
My take is that Nancy Pelosi is taking orders from the top echelons of the Democratic Party. If Bush and Cheney are impeached without a new VP being appointed, Nancy becomes President. That would cause a huge stir in the current race for nomination. Ms Pelosi could run for 2 more terms as she would have served less than half a term. Does anyone really think that's what today's front runners want? I personally think it is the greatest idea of the century (Bush was elected in 2000 and installed in 2001)! But I suspect a lot of money has been raised and work has been done and the leaders of the national party are too nervous over the consequences of having our fist woman president come as the result of impeachment, regardless of how popular that would likely make her. It simply isn't in the best interest of the democratic candidates to impeach.
