Pelosi Would Impeach Bush If She Had "The Goods"
I feel like I've just gone through the looking glass. It's been 3 years and 3 months since the Downing Street Memo was published, yet today Speaker Pelosi told The View she would impeach Bush if she only had "the goods" (video below). Dennis Kucinich produced "the goods" in the form of 35+1 detailed Articles of Impeachment. Speaker Pelosi, have you read any of these Articles? Call Pelosi at 202-225-0100.
JOY BEHAR: You’ve ruled against impeaching George Bush and Dick Cheney. And now Kucinich is trying to pass that. Why do you, why do you insist on not impeaching these people so that the world and America can really see the crimes that they’ve committed?
[applause]
PELOSI: Well, I think that it- I think it was important- When I became speaker- and by the way, a very important position, president, vice president, speaker of the House- I saw it as my responsibility to try to bring a much divided country together to the extent that we could. I thought that impeachment would be divisive for the country. In terms of what we wanted to set out to do, we wanted to raise the minimum wage, give the biggest increase in veterans benefits to veterans in 77 year history, the veteran- pass research in stem cell- the stem cell research, all of that. This week we’re going to pass equal pay for equal work. It has been a long time in coming [applause], pay equity. We’re going to pass legislation for product safety, for toys that children put in them. There’s an agenda that you have to get done, that you have to try to do it in a bipartisan way. The president has to sign it. If somebody had a crime that the president had committed, that would be a different story.
BEHAR: Can they still do it after he is out?
BARBARA WALTERS: When, when we first- when I interviewed you last year, you had just begun, and you were going to clean up the mess, remember?
PELOSI: We did.
WALTERS: You, you look around this country, 75 percent of the country, forget George Bush, thinks that Congress is doing a lousy job.
HASSELBECK: I think it’s 91 percent now.
PELOSI: Well, I don’t disagree with that because largely it’s predicated on ending the war in Iraq. That’s the main question, and we were not successful. In our House of Representatives, I’m very proud of our members because they voted overwhelmingly over and over again to bring the war to an end, to bring the troops home safely and soon, send it to the Senate, and it hits a dead end. But in terms of that particular standard, I would say I disapprove as well. But we do, we passed some of the things I just mentioned, the energy bill. We worked in a bipartisan way, and ovation, agenda, we have to create jobs, expand health care, protect the American people, and educate our children. And you can’t do that if you’re trying to impeach the president at the same time, unless you have the goods that this president committed these crimes.
BEHAR: They did it to Clinton.
PELOSI: But they didn’t have the goods and it was wrong, and it was wrong, and it was wrong when they did that. Not that I- I have total disagreement with president on the war, the reason why we went in, which was based on a false premise. But that’s a different story than saying "can we try to get something accomplished for people," have concerns about the economy and the rest.
Congratulations to Joy Behar for asking the question that no one at Netroots Nation had a chance to ask. Here is the video, starting at 5:45:

That Pelosi is making those statements you have bolded AFTER
Kucinich's 35 articles and AFTER the Judiciary Committee hearings last Friday speaks volumes.
I am not a US citizen. Shouldn't it be possible for constituents of Nancy Pelosi's to find out if she has read Kucinich's articles.
Is it really Nancy Pelosi's CONSIDERED OPINION that the President has NOT authorised torture and NOT ordered an illegal invasion (the terms of the authorisation to use military force were to ENFORCE not BREAK UN Resolutions).
Resolution 1441 was made in November 2002 after the October 2002 authorisation to use force. Resolution 1441 bound the US President as commander in chief to its terms because the US President is part of the United States.
The terms of 1441 gave Iraq a "final opportunity" to disarm. And the terms of the UN Charter lay out how the UN Security Council makes its decisions. Those terms do not allow the US President to unilateral decide to terminate a final opportunity.
Bush, not Congress, gave the order to invade Iraq in March 2003. Bush not Congress UNCONSTITUTIONALLY and AGAINST THE TERMS OF THE UN CHARTER (part of US Supreme Law) assumed the authority to not ENFORCE (as per the authorisation to use military force) but to BREAK the terms of 1441.
The crime is the crime of illegal invasion. The crime is not seeing that the UN Charter (as part of US Supreme law) was faithfully executed. The crime was assuming that President could act unilaterally against an agreement that he had, with the support of Congress, made.
Only one comment or two....
If an $11 a month increase in veterans benefits is the objective of this cowardly person (or accomplice) was an excuse to not impeach the entire administration and call it the largest in any period of time she is a liar. And judging by the way she speaks in this interview I would say she is guilty on all counts. (Or she learned to speak English at the same kindergarten that the Chimp did.) Impeach her too.
remove Pelosi from office
You CAN remove Pelosi from office in November. Cindy Sheehan is running for the House seat in the San Francisco seat that Pelosi currently occupies. Sheehan is running precisely because Pelosi refuses to consider impeachment, and blocked any hearing until last week. Support Cindy: http://www.cindyforcongress.org/ I did.
Kucinich Petition
Kucinich has said he will submit this once, and once only. He has tried, and now it is up to the American people to back him. The more signitures we can gather by midnight, Wednesday, 7/30/08, the more likely we can force hearings.
If not, America is agreeing the president has no law. They should have let us know about this sooner.

Time to Impeach NANCY PELOSI!!
Perhaps we should consider impeaching (recalling?) NANCY PELOSI for shirking her sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. I, foe one, would certainly "find the time" to do so! Nancy Pelosi, as well as the other Democrats who were elected in the majority had given one mandate and one mandate only: hold the Bush/Cheney Administration accountable. Everything else on HER agenda is secondary to the one single mandate that was given to her upon her election as Speaker: IMPEACH GEORGE BUSH & DICK CHENEY. This nation demands no less; this world is need of no less. Perhaps if Speaker Pelosi spent less time on book tours she would find the time to do her duty and fulfill her mandate?
obviously most
House Democrats will not vote to impeach Pelosi because they agree with her on impeachment.
if you want to send Pelosi a message, you can support Cindy Sheehan in her race against Pelosi:
