Obama's First Act: Defend the Constitution
On January 20, Barack Obama's first official act will be to swear his Oath of Office:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
Millions of us will be watching with great skepticism because George Bush swore the identical oath in 2001 and 2005, and then flagrantly defied the Constitution in every way possible. He wantonly broke innumerable laws (war powers, torture, wiretapping), nullified Congressional laws with signing statements, and defied Congressional subpoenas.
If President Obama wants to deliver "change we can believe in," he needs to overcome our hard-earned skepticism by reversing all of Bush's violations of the Constitution.
One easy reversal would be to immediately honor all Congressional subpoenas by turning over documents the Bush administration refused to deliver. Obama could also tell Bush administration officials they can no longer offer bogus claims of executive privilege to avoid testifying before Congress.
As for Bush's secret crimes like torture and wiretapping, it will be hard for skeptics to be convinced that Obama has actually stopped these practices, because we have no direct way of verifying them. That makes it all the more important for Obama to instruct his Attorney General to investigate and prosecute Bush Administration officials who committed these crimes - preferably by re-appointing Patrick Fitzgerald as Independent Counsel to expand his Plamegate investigation to cover all of the Bush-Cheney crimes.

Obama's Hollow Oath
Does anybody really expect Barack Obama to honor the oath of office? He already supports an insidious move to reinstate the so-called Fairness Doctrine (in name only) to forbid the unmonitored use of Conservative Radio in America which is in clear violation of the First Amendment, and the right to bear arms including concealed carry permits enjoyed by all but the most crime ridden cities in America; crime ridden only because liberal mayors won't authorize law abiding citizens to protect themselves, certainly a clear violation of the Second Amendment.
No, in light of Obama's treasonous statements against those of us who were in Iraq mauling the cream of al-Qaeda, and his refusal to freeze the budget and show fiscal accountability, it's obvious he doesn't care about anything but his own socialist agenda which is the same as that of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and those other socialists who narrowly wiggled their way into office with a thin 51-52% of the vote.
Rest assured that we, the other 48-49% will dog Obama’s every unconstitutional move as he makes them; not as Code Pink and MoveOn.org shamefully hammered away on our president when they should have supported him … and us … in our successful fight against terrorists from across the Islamic World who we defeated in Iraq without their help. Rather, as committed citizens to defending our constitutional republic in the face of a domestic threat.

Lazy, and/or genetic dullards have already, according to your "logic", restricted my right to bear arms.
Just because dumb asses are too stupid to be able to flirt with anything but kinetic weapons, does not mean civilized folks could not. YOU have denied me my own nuclear weapon. Folks should pay for services rendered. So yeah, one should pay for the military defense of one's wealth. Pay in proportion to the wealth one needs defending. That has not happened under Republican Rule and it turned our Historic Surpluses into Historic Deficits.

Isn't it strange that right-wing extremists are "experts" on the First and Second Amendments to the Constitution, but don't know shit about the rest of it?
They don't seem to understand that a return of the Fairness Doctrine will not infringe on the "right" of their heroes (Dubya, Cheney, Rove, Rush, Hannity, etc.) to spew their hate-filled garbage. It will only mean that they will have to give equal time to opposing views, and that they will have the same right in return. How is that an infringement of Free Speech? Or, do they believe that the right to scream "fire" in a crowded theater is Free Speech as well? I suspect that their REAL opposition to the Fairness Doctrine, is that they know full well that their ridiculous and hateful diatribes will not stand up to a reasoned response.
And here we go with the damned "right to bear arms" bullshit again. Nobody, not once, has ever mentioned taking their fucking guns away from them. Guns don't kill people (actually, it's the bullets) it's the IDIOTS with guns who kill people. We have waaay too many rednecked "white power" slimeballs walking around with "concealed weapons" -- their bigoted, hateful, and drug-impaired minds.

Jim, the way our troops are equipped...
invading Finland would be a terrible mistake--Desert Tan uniforms would look out of place in the snow...just as jungle colored uniforms weren't too swift in Iraq/Afghanistan.

As far as i am concerned to anyone that has been paying attention to what has been going on here, would think that your precious president Bush is either a war criminal, grossly negligent or grossly stupid. Probably a comination of all three.

The argument ever was, would Iraq be worth it for the oil money for the few, or would the blood and treasure be better spent supporting the troops in Afghanistan to gain us Bin Laden's head?
Republicans fucked those guys over by spending feebly on that War BECAUSE of Iraq. What asshole would ever think we should spend the equivalent of 3 weeks in Iraq on the ENTIRE War in Afghanistan? Oh yeah, 90% of Republicans. Just great.
