Obama Is Ready to Lead
The eyes of the nation were on Barack Obama last night, wondering whether he had the strength, knowledge, and conviction to lead us.
By the end, he left no doubt in anyone's mind: he's ready.
Ready to lead the United States at a very difficult time.
And ready to beat John McCain and the vicious Republican Party.
Best parts of Obama's speech:
We may not agree on abortion, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies in this country. The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than for those plagued by gang-violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals. I know there are differences on same-sex marriage, but surely we can agree that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters deserve to visit the person they love in the hospital and to live lives free of discrimination. Passions fly on immigration, but I don't know anyone who benefits when a mother is separated from her infant child or an employer undercuts American wages by hiring illegal workers. This, too, is part of America's promise -- the promise of a democracy where we can find the strength and grace to bridge divides and unite in common effort.
I know there are those who dismiss such beliefs as happy talk. They claim that our insistence on something larger, something firmer and more honest in our public life is just a Trojan Horse for higher taxes and the abandonment of traditional values. And that's to be expected. Because if you don't have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare the voters. If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from.
You make a big election about small things.
Exactly.
Update 1: The Oscar for Best Supporting Actor goes to former Republican Barney Smith:
Republicans talk about putting “country first,” but tell that to Marion, Indiana. They sent my job overseas.
America can’t afford more of the same. We need a president who puts the Barney Smiths before the Smith Barneys.
ROTFL!

I loved that Smith Barney dig-LOL!
And yes, Obama's speech shows he's ready to lead
AND fight the smears and fears generated by the Repug
spin machine.
His speech was great!
:-)
Best ever! Never saw so many
Best ever! Never saw so many people in one stadium ever either! Not even at any Super Bowl.
John McSame's selection?
Sarah Palin, the Prophetess? Kook? Sucessionist?
Has the South Risen again in Alaska, where the natives are recaptured and taken over.

I don't think so America. We don't need a Queen, We the People are serious about a true leader.
That leader is Barack Obama and his "sidekick" Toe to Toe Joe Biden!
Barack On Team America!
It's been said many a time that, when facism comes it will be wrapped in the American flag, and carrying a Cross.
Get these imbeciles out of the White House, before they start another CIVIL WAR.

DNC vs RNC
So I asked this person who attended the RNC if he had watched any of the DNC? He said "a little", I then asked if he had noticed one large glaring difference between the two.
He thought and thought but just could not come with any glaring differences. I then said, "Did you not see all the racial DIVERSITY at the DNC there was hardly any at the RNC, in fact the crowd at the RNC looked like retired KKK in $1200 Brooks Brothers suits. He was angry! I said Truth hurts eh?
Is he ready? Will he be elected? The answer is easy - YES!!
I use a widget to keep track of the progression of polls. The widget shows the election polls by strength of states.
In addition to other different graphical visualizations of data, this one displays the progression of votes over time.
It gives a great overview!
I think you might like it:-)

Make a difference, keep on voting!
it's fantastic - look below
minor suggestions
Democrats ends was S not ES
Is it possible to put a thin yellow line through 269 in the pie and bar charts?
Is it possible to include the list of states in each category (and the current margin) in the mouseover?
Reminding Us to Stay Focused
You know, while we ponder the qualifications of John McCain's VP pick, he has accomplished what he set out to do: take us off the focus of our primary goals.
I want to remind all of us to stay focused on our ultimate goal: and that is to ensure that Barack Obama and Joe Biden are elected in November!
How do we do that? We keep mindful of what's at stake and continue to spread the word and remind people of the failed policies of the Bush Administration. Remind our friends and family that a vote for John McCain is still a vote for Bush. Stop worrying about them and focus on us.
Keep our eyes on the prize.
Get out the word that EVERYONE needs to ensure that they have not been purged from the voter rolls. They need to get out and vote. We need to ensure that we have an honest and fair election.
OK, I may get slammed for saying this, but I want a fair election, and win or lose, it shouldn't be because people were disenfranchised. So I encourage people (no matter what political affiliation) to ensure that it's fair.
So please, stay focused, continue to remind people of the cost of the war, gas prices, failing economy, etc. It hasn't changed because of McCains choice in a running mate.
STAY FOCUSED !!!!!
History repeating itself
Enough of them, do want to go through this again?
Let's get Obama in here!
Sarah Palin speaks dow drops 344 points
wow Sarah Palin speaks and the dow drops 344 points.
I sold all my stocks, she never mentioned anything of substance about the economy,
What's to mention?
They are modern Republicans:
Republicans do this with the votes of wimps and dullards who don't understand that bums can be EITHER poor OR wealthy.
Jim
Markets can, and do, fail miserably.
SKEWED INCOMES
Republicans claim this is due to Soldiers, Scientists, Mechanics, etc. being just too damned stupid or lazy to do better.
THE DEMOCRATIC EXPLANATION
MARKETS ARE MANIPULATED
And if you go with a BLOATED mob (Communism) rather than Aristocracy (Conservatism) you gain nothing but misery as well.
Democrats champion the American BALANCE for the greatest economy possible.
Jim
Proud to be american.
After listening to Obama's speech I was proud to be an american again. I thought it was excellent.
We all need him to win. I have not been as excited about a prsidential candidate since the 1976 election. You should of heard Carter speaking about him (Obama) on PBS. Speaking of Carter just think where we would be if we had followed the Carter energy initiatives.
A perspective from Europe, Sweden to be exact.
I received this link from my cousin today who lives in Stockholm.
The poll question reads,literally translated,
'Who do you think is most ready for the presidential position( of the United States)?'
http://wwwc.aftonbladet.se/vss/special/storfragan/visa/0,1937,35512,00.h...
My cousin started e-mailing me early Thursday morning after Palin's speech.
Apparently it didn't go over very well in Europe- the majority there don't like
her and are very concerned about her having any chance of winning.
widget with polls status
there is now a nice little sidebar version of the live data "votes by strength of states" widget, which you can fit into the sidebar of blogs: http://www.youcalc.com/apps/1221747067033

That's pretty much where WE see it too.
Around that margin or perhaps the 68% here. I've been on the KO@msnbc anchor and he's pretty accurate. I figure the new voters and people that usually stay home rather than vote for the lesser of two evils, who don't care, will drasticly alter the MSM pollsters and therefore keep the election from being stolen. We have to be carefull that We don't disclose those percentages, so we don't take the polls when asked to vote in them, we just keep track our our increases in supporters who then talk to five people a week. They in turn talk to five other friends a week. I think we have increased that though recently, as the election is less than two months away.
This plan is called the "Gimme Five" plan.
If this is done by the 2.5 million donors to the campaign, well, you get the idea!
Isn't this guy the greatest, like Ali, only the campaign is running pretty much flawless. Everybody wants him to show an angry side, but keep in mind, he is talking to his fellow Americans, even if they don't have a full understanding how bad a shape this country is in.
Barack On Team American Blue Tsunami of Change!
Obama/Biden, America's pride in, DEMOCRACY FOR ALL AMERICANS!
Wooo Wooooooooooo!!!

WANTED public servant...
I really think Americans need a TRUE public servant NOT another CAREER POLITICIAN whose goal is to protect their investment therefore protecting corporation. I chose to change my registration from independent last year to democrats for this presidential election in order to give my vote to the candidate (Obama) that I believe should be given a chance to prove to Americans that politicians should be public servants.
McCain always claimed that he's been in the senate for 26 years but he hasn't proven any clear proof of public service he was involved with, maybe with invasion planning. I will always wish that America will not leave Iraqi civilians to be executed by the leftist but I believe that if America would like to be the global leader it should not be through WAR. In order for Americans to be leaders they should live quality lives NOT homeless lives.
MORE POWER TO OBAMA.
