Al-Zarqawi dead? Bring our troops home.

We never know whether these announcements are true or not, but true or not this is a great opportunity for Democrats. We can now insist that we declare victory in Iraq and bring our troops home. From the Associated Press:

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi killed in air raid Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, al-Qaida's leader in Iraq who led a bloody campaign of suicide bombings and kidnappings, has been killed in an air strike, U.S. and Iraqi officials said Thursday, adding that his identity was confirmed by fingerprints and a look at his face. It was a major victory in the U.S.-led war in Iraq and the broader war on terror.

Al-Zarqawi dead for the 10th time...

perhaps this time it's true. ---

After (3) years I can't celebrate one (terrorist death) vs. 2,500 American military that have died in the search for 'terror leaders'...

this story should die out by Noon today; Bush and Rumsfeld shouldn't be celebrating a 'terrorists death';

instead they should be going to Plan B --and that is getting the 'hell' out Iraq ---because this type of 'revenge for death'; will only be a long-term demise that we should have never started.

'A turning point' ? What is Iraq government really doing just about today?

nykr...what a bunch of twaddle you posted above...

almost every statement you make in your ill-thought out rant is wrong. The entire war has nothing to do with terrorists...and everything to do with stealing Iraqi oil. First and foremost, the invasion is a false front based upon not one lie, but many. Because of these lies, by the Bush cabal, the US presently has absolutely no credibility in international affairs and in the eyes of the other so-called civilized countries.

Where in the hell are you getting all your misinformation? We have suffered through 6 years of this little bastard in Blight House. Where have you been sniffing around to come up with your crap?

The perps from the first attack on us by Al Q are sitting in prison...so your specious claim that we ignored Al Q is false. Your entire statement is comprised of the twit and twaddle broadcast to Americans by the likes of Rush, Anthrax, Hannity, O'Really, and the like. As well as of course, all the Rovian spin on practically every lie told to us by Bush & Company.

Frankly, you seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You might start by doing some real research so that you come up to speed with the members of this site.

Happy now?

Al-Zar who?

Submarine   USS Wahoo  ss238

Am I the only one who thinks this is one big scam on
America and the world, to make it look like they "killed
a main terrorist" and rid the world of an evil person?

They said they identified the so called body with his fingerprints, where did they get Zarqawi's finger prints?
I know he was supposedly jailed in Jordan for a while.
Do they keep fingerprints on everyone in the world?
This news comes as the marriage amendment failed....again
Bush's poll numbers are slipping faster then a speeding nascar.
I dont buy it.

The US intelligence apparatus has created it own terrorist organizations. And at the same time, it creates its own terrorist warnings concerning the terrorist organizations which it has itself created. In turn, it has developed a cohesive multibillion dollar counterterrorism program "to go after" these terrorist organizations.

Counterterrorism and war propaganda are intertwined. The propaganda apparatus feeds disinformation into the news chain. The terror warnings must appear to be "genuine". The objective is to present the terror groups as "enemies of America."

The underlying objective is to galvanize public opinion in support of America's war agenda.

The "war on terrorism" requires a humanitarian mandate. The war on terrorism is presented as a "Just War", which is to be fought on moral grounds "to redress a wrong suffered."

The Just War theory defines "good" and "evil." It concretely portrays and personifies the terrorist leaders as "evil individuals".

Several prominent American intellectuals and antiwar activists, who stand firmly opposed to the Bush administration, are nonetheless supporters of the Just War theory: "We are against war in all its forms but we support the campaign against international terrorism."

To reach its foreign policy objectives, the images of terrorism must remain vivid in the minds of the citizens, who are constantly reminded of the terrorist threat.

The propaganda campaign presents the portraits of the leaders behind the terror network. In other words, at the level of what constitutes an "advertising" campaign, "it gives a face to terror." The "war on terrorism" rests on the creation of one or more evil bogeymen, the terror leaders, Osama bin Laden, Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, et al, whose names and photos are presented ad nauseam in daily news reports.

This is what I have thought for a long time, the US needs a
"Bogeyman" to keep this scam going
Zarqawi is supposedly gone now, who is next, who will they
get to replace him, and be the evil one.
They sure are no where near catching Osama, or will they
do that just in time for this years midterm election?

"Scarecrows and magic and other fatal fears do not bring people closer together. There is no magic substitute for soft caring and hard work, for self-respect and mutual love. If we can learn this from the mistake these frightened men made, then their mistake will not have been merely grotesque. It will have been at least a lesson—a lesson at last to be learned."

'Bush has confused Americans'...

If Al-Qaeda were the 'operative' then the Iraq War was the 'missed target'...

Al-Qaeda are a 'virtual world' of terror --it was at one point the name of the 'terror database'; and not so a group/groups collectively operating as one [perhaps]..

60% of terrorists [insurgents//resistence] in Iraq are Saudis, 40 are mixed...from other countries.--Saddam kept Al-Qaeda out of Iraq for the most part...

[after the U.S. Iraq invasion Mar 2003 --the official / existing military of Iraq under Saddam are now the resistence //therefore; /the so called security police/ military the one Bush is now training; are the business owners, merchants 'bakers, shoemakers, electricians, carpenters, mechanics, that are the Kurd, Shiite tribesmen --w/ the same Sunni resistence as before.

Al-Zarqawi a [Jordanian] infamous --the high-ranking leader of Osama BinLaden group] ...and a leader of 'one' particular group...

but the Bush administration have 'sold and conveyed'to the American people-- as one big 'massive terror group'; [not true]

just like he sold the 'Saddam' WMD's as one 'big reason' to go and kill more people in their turf vs the U.S. -

One thug 'an outlaw'; the other ' a President.
