What is PNAC ?

"The Project for a New American Century" (PNAC) is the elusive "cabal" that is hardly mentioned in the news, and never called by name. PNAC was co-founded by William Kristol and Dick Cheney & other familiar people. This cabal is the group that is presently in power. Needless to say, our American press has not been reporting all the facts regarding the current Bush Administration , so PNAC is rarely mentioned by them, if ever. If you google PNAC you will find it all over the internet , and many websites attempt to expose and "out" the PNAC. The UK press reports on PNAC all the time now, starting with an article by Neil Mackay in 2002 in the Scottish Sunday Herald:
http://www.sundayherald.com/27735
PNAC is a small group who claim to act on behalf of you and not the elites. They hold many of the key positions of power in the federal government. But really, these are the people who brought us:
* the war in Iraq
* plans for simultaneous, multiple wars
* legal 'justification' for torture
* the 'Patriot' Act, expanded presidential powers and reduced citizens' rights
* warmongering and war profiteering and on and on
In the past 5 years , only two well-known Americans have been videotaped publicly exposing the PNAC just this year: Helen Thomas "the first lady of the press" , & Stephen Colbert, the comedic anchor of the "Colbert Report" on Comedy Central ! :

Here is PNAC's actual website , founding members & Statement of Principles:

They wrote a letter trying to urge Clinton in 1998 to attack Iraq:

Practically everyone in this organization is also in the Bush Administration, however W himself is not a member of the PNAC. Many bloggers surmise this is because he is the cabal's puppet to be kept "untouchable" in case of a need for pardons for the rest of the group. Even Jeb Bush is a member , but not W !
The Iraq and potential Iran wars were already planned on their PNAC website in this document "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategy, Forces, & Resources for a New Century" (remember , this is a non-profit organization , NOT a government entity, yet they came into power two months after this was written in September 2000):

Conservative think tank eyes closing after 'mission accomplished' in Iraq
RAW STORY

A neoconservative think tank co-founded by Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Jeb Bush, Paul Wolfowitz and "Scooter" Libby, that long pushed for regime change in Iraq, is readying to close its doors with a feeling of "mission accomplished," according to today's Washington Post.
Excerpts from the Post story follow:
#
PNAC and its supporters dominated the Bush administration's foreign policy apparatus and championed a policy to get rid of Saddam Hussein long before Sept. 11, 2001.
In its famous 1998 letter to President Bill Clinton , PNAC said "removing Saddam Hussein and his regime . . . now needs to become the aim of American foreign policy." Clinton was urged to use all diplomatic, political and military means to topple him.
Despite the happy chatter before the Iraq invasion about cheering crowds and bouquets and cakewalks and how the war was going to pay for itself, the signatories wrote that "we are fully aware of the dangers of implementing this policy."
There had been debate about PNAC's future, but the feeling, a source said, was of "goal accomplished" and it looks to be heading toward closing. Former executive director Gary J. Schmitt , who had been executive director of President Ronald Reagan 's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, left recently for a post at the American Enterprise Institute. (Not a big move. Actually, only five floors up from PNAC.) Still, seems like a short century.

PNAC: Mission Accomplished?
If their mission is truly accomplished, which I doubt they are close to being done, a "heckava job" they have done. Let's take a look at a few of their "accomplishments":
- 2,520 American soldiers dead (as of June 27, 2006)
- More than 18,250 soldiers wounded and maimed
- Over 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians killed
- 290 Billion dollars spent on an war of lies
- Two deeply divided countries; The U.S. and Iraq
- NSA warrantless, illegal spying on U.S. citizens
- Massive data mining of phone and bank records of U.S. citizens
- Congressional corruption at an unprecedented level (see Tom Delay, et al.)
- Despicable torture of detainee suspects
- A president firmly entrenched above the law (See Bush's end-around on the FISA law)
- Emasculation of Congress as a co-equal branch of government (see Bush's 750 signing statements)
- Suppression of civil liberties, invasion of privacy & free speech
- Two stolen elections and massive voter fraud
- The Katrina response debacle
- Finally, the re-birth of fascism, American style!
Fine, fine job! Their next project needs to be entitled,
"How to destroy, divide and bankrupt a nation of money and conscience in five, easy years."

"Its time to replace fear with hope. This is the crucial message that America must begin to hear and believe in again. For hope is the mortal enemy of fear; and fear cannot succeed in the solidarity of inspired hope."
A few more accomplishments of the PNAC & Bush
A few to add to the list:
-Ignoring overwhelming evidence from the scientific community that global warming is occurring and it’s not a natural phenomenon.
-Suppression of science and flow of information in order to fit a narrow brand of arcane Christian canon.
-Infiltration of the religious right’s dogmatic agenda into our secular government.
-Refusal to fund and acknowledge the benefits of stem cell research.
-An 8.1 trillion dollar debt, mostly to the Chinese.
-Medicare’s Plan D Prescription drug program that masquerades as a massive windfall for pharmaceutical companies.
-A President who claimed ‘God told him’ to invade Iraq and attack.
God would tell me, “George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan. And I did, and then God would tell me, George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq', and I did."
-George W. Bush, June, 2003

Bush Must Stop the PNAC Coup d'Etat

neoconservatives
Joseph Wilson writes, "Bush could fundamentally change the direction of his administration by firing fewer than fifteen senior officials, beginning with those signatories of the Project for the New American Century who signed a 1998 letter that urged President Clinton to wage war on Iraq. They are clustered at the National Security Council (NSC), in the Defense and State Departments, and within Vice President Cheney's own parallel national security office. That particular little-known organization -- not accountable to Congress and virtually unknown to the American people -- should be completely dismantled. Never in the history of our democracy has there been established such an influential and pervasive center of power with the ability to circumvent longstanding and accepted reporting structures and to skew decisionmaking practices. It has been described to me chillingly by a former senior government official as a coup d'etat within the State."
PNAC
Of course, Bush could. He doesn't want to. That's why he put them into those positions in the first place. Unless you believe that was an accident, there's no reason to believe he'd consider replacing them. Look a Bolton at the UN and what he went through to get him in the position.
Wishful thinking, Joe.
That was then
this is now. I have no doubt that Joe & Valerie (and their lawyer)know PNAC's modus operandi & who their puppets are (in DC and the UN).

The Bush/PNAC Cabal
I have noticed recently that more and more bloggers and posters are calling the evil entity not just "the NeoCONS" anymore, but are actually taking the extra effort to type out "the Bush/PNAC Cabal". I am thrilled with this trend that is happening because it is revealling that more and more people are putting two and two together. When people use the label "the NeoCONS", it is more of an insider term and not everyone who reads it "gets it". But when the phrase "the Bush/PNAC Cabal" is used instead of "NeoCONS", it demonstrates that the writer knows exactly what is going on (and that it's not a theory, but a REAL conspiracy with a REAL cabal). The phrase "the Bush/PNAC Cabal" also alerts the sheeple to the plain facts in a succinct manner, which is what we all want to do before all the PRIMARIES and ELECTIONS.
How the Bush administration misled Americans into war
The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) was established in 1997 with the goal of promoting "American global leadership". Prior to Bush being elected president, several PNAC members (such as Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz) stated that an invasion of Iraq is part of a larger Middle East policy. Here's info about the PNAC:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PNAC
A document entitled "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategies, Forces And Resources For A New Century" stated that: "The United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein." Here's the document:
http://www.newamericancentury.org/RebuildingAmericasDefenses.pdf
In 1998, members of the PNAC (including Donald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz) wrote to President Clinton urging him to remove Saddam Hussein from power. The letter argued that Saddam would pose a threat to the United States, its Middle East allies and oil resources in the region if he succeeded in maintaining his stockpile of WMD. The letter argues that an Iraq war would be justified by Hussein's defiance of UN "containment" policy and his persistent threat to US interests. Here's the letter:
http://www.newamericancentury.org/iraqclintonletter.htm
In August 2002, the White House created "The White House Iraq Group" (WHIG). WHIG was the marketing arm of the Republican Party whose purpose was to sell the 2003 invasion of Iraq to the public. The task force was set up by White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card and chaired by Karl Rove to coordinate all the executive branch elements in the run-up to the war in Iraq. One example of the WHIG's functions and influence is the escalation of rhetoric about the danger that Iraq posed to the US, including the introduction of the term "mushroom cloud". Here's info about WHIG:
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=White_House_Iraq_Group
In September 2002, the Bush administration created an agency called Office of Special Plans (OSP) to find evidence of weapons of mass destruction and links with al Qaeda, piece it together, and clinch the case for the invasion of Iraq. The agency was set up by Donald Rumsfeld to second-guess CIA information and operated under the patronage of hard-line conservatives in the top rungs of the administration, the Pentagon and at the White House, including Dick Cheney. Here's info about the OSP:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_of_Special_Plans
Seymour Hersh wrote that, according to an unnamed Pentagon adviser, "OSP was created in order to find evidence of what Wolfowitz and his boss, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, believed to be true—that Saddam Hussein had close ties to Al Qaeda, and that Iraq had an enormous arsenal of chemical, biological, and possibly even nuclear weapons that threatened the region and, potentially, the United States." Here's Hersh's article:
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/articles/030512fa_fact
According to former Officer Karen Kwiatkowski, who worked from May 2002 through February 2003 in the Pentagon, the OSP was created to produce more threatening intelligence reports and to find a link between Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. Other intelligence agencies had no or little influence on the reports sent from the OSP to the White House.
Kwiatkowski observed how the OSP manufactured scare stories about Iraq's weapons and ties to terrorists: "It wasn't intelligence‚ -- it was propaganda. They'd take a little bit of intelligence, cherry-pick it, make it sound much more exciting, usually by taking it out of context, often by juxtaposition of two pieces of information that don't belong together." Here are two articles by Kwiatkowski:
http://amconmag.com/12_1_03/feature.html
http://archive.salon.com/opinion/feature/2004/03/10/osp/index_np.html
Democratic congressman David Obey, who is investigating OSP, said: "The office was charged with collecting, vetting and disseminating intelligence completely outside of the normal intelligence apparatus. In fact, it appears that information collected by this office was in some instances not even shared with established intelligence agencies and in numerous instances was passed on to the National Security Council and the president without having been vetted with anyone other than political appointees".

Much of the pre-war information came from The Iraqi National Congress. The INC was an umbrella Iraqi opposition group led by Ahmad Chalabi, who enjoyed a cozy political and business relationships with some members of the US government, including some prominent neoconservatives within the Pentagon. Chalabi is said to have had political contacts within the PNAC, most notably with Paul Wolfowitz and Richard Perle. Here's info about Chalabi:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahmad_Chalabi
Before the war, the CIA was largely skeptical of Chalabi and the INC. In December 2002, Robert Dreyfuss reported that the Bush administration actually preferred INC-supplied analyses of Iraq over analyses provided by long-standing analysts within the CIA:
http://www.prospect.org/print-friendly/print/V13/22/dreyfuss-r.html
A DIA report concluded that the testimonies made by the INC defectors were mostly false:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1052334,00.html
An Iraqi informant named "Curveball" was the source of pivotal information concerning WMD. He was described by German intelligence as an individual not living in Iraq and as an "out of control" and crazy alcoholic. The informant's German handlers said they had told U.S. officials that his information was not proven and were shocked when Bush and Colin Powell used it in key prewar speeches. According to the Germans, Bush mischaracterized Curveball's information when he warned before the war that Iraq had at least seven mobile factories brewing biological poisons. Here's info about Curveball:

Yep, two of the Godfathers of PNAC, Richard Perle and William Kristol, are right there in the middle of these Brit neocons who are posing as "non-partisans" and using the Liberal label as a ruse.
If you read through their "Principles," they are basically saying that the USA and the European Union (under the guidance of the UK) have the right to rule the world. That is the same folly that caused the fall of the Roman Empire, and to a lesser extent, the subsequent British Empire.

Using Lyndon LaRouche
Using Lyndon LaRouche followers as a source for credible information is always risky. "Nutcake" LaRouche and his gang are almost as dangerous as the PNAC crowd...
The article appears factual enough
Sorry, not too familiar with LaRouche, so hard for me to judge.
For starters, you can go
For starters, you can go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._LaRouche
Appears credible folks believe he's politically persecuted
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyndon_LaRouche
"...LaRouche was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in 1988 for conspiracy, mail fraud, and tax code violations, but continued his political activities from behind bars until his release in 1994 on parole. LaRouche's imprisonment was protested by public figures from around the world, and former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark charged that his case "involves a broader range of deliberate and systematic misconduct and abuse of power over a longer period of time in an effort to destroy a political movement and leader, than any other federal prosecution in my time or to my knowledge..." [6]
All I am aware of is that "his people" seem very vigilant to what is really going on with the true agenda of hegemony by PNAC and the Henry Jackson Society, and the PNACers and SCOOPers collaboration to these fascist ends, much moreso than the Mainstream Media.
The source I gave you is
The source I gave you is only one example of Larouche's (and his followers) criminal acts. He is NOT being unfairly persecuted, and Ramsey Clark is also helping the legal defense team which represents Saddam Hussein. Ramsey is apparently drawn to lunatics and "unpopular" causes.
Larouche's campus goons have threatened thousands of college students, and made threatening telephone calls to many thousands of registered voters, including some members of Democrats.com. He went to jail for valid reasons, and should be sent back. The fact that some of his "news" outlets get it right less than 20% of the time is NOT a reason to advance either his philosophy, or his organization's rantings.
Larouche AND "his people" are CT nutcases, and comprise an extremist fringe group of fanatics. Your apparent attempt to support Larouche and his group detracts from your credibility on the very real PNAC menace, but more importantly, from the credibility of Democrats.com. We have banned other Larouche supporters from Democrats.com, and with good reason.
Here is some additional info, but I am NOT going to waste a lot of time trying to educate anyone about Larouche:

Larouche then made a radical turn to the extreme Right:

And here is several hours worth of reading about the “cult of Larouche” if anyone is so inclined to waste their time.
http://www.rickross.com/groups/larouche.html
Note: If this node turns into a magnet for Larouche supporters, or becomes, in any way, a circular "Larouche" argument, it will be closed faster than a speeding bullet.
Please don't tout Lyndon LaRouche "vigilance"
He should not be used as an example of anything. I grew up in Orange County California and LaRouche has been around since the sixties with his talk of helping the underdogs. There were flyers everywhere trying to get people to join his cause. There was talk then of him not being a credible person and a fraud. He is vigilant in getting people to join him who feel downtrodden. He isn't a person to respect at all. I don't think a progressive democrat should be using LaRouche within their debates as a credible subject.
To attempt to give any credibility to LaRouche on this...

So, be warned. Mention LaRouche and get yerself banned.

We've debated his followers on this site for over 6 years now. We have much institutional memory regarding these 'experiences.'
