Halifax info

George Bush In Halifax
Thanks for the thanks, but no thanks
http://hfxpeace.chebucto.org/_archives/01.12.2004bushinhalifax.html
Wednesday, December 1, 2004 Time TBD
Location TDB (Airport?)

Halifax Peace Coalition has taken note of these plans, and will be staging a peaceful demonstration to say thanks for the belated thanks, but no thanks to helping his agenda anymore. Just because we are as John Hamm puts it "polite and welcoming" does not mean that we are "doormats". We plan to say that George W. has worn out his welcome.

Details are still being worked out, but if you are able to volunteer to help with planning, coordination, or materials, your help would be appreciated. In addition, since this was an unplanned expense, donations would be particularly appreciated now.

Watch this space for further details as they become available.

Email us at: hfxpeace@chebucto.ca
Phone us at: (902) 496-9209. Ask for Chris.

Thank you for protesting Bush in Canada

I tried to protest Bush when he came to my state. I had a small sign expressing my Christian religious convictions against Bush's taking the nation to war based on lies. I was forced to go to a "free speech zone" by a bunch of federal agents dressed in black who acted like nazi gestapo. They were totally disrespectful of people's right to peacefully assemble and to free speech. I remember when the whole U.S. was a free speech zone. That is what the U.S. Constitution says. But not under Bush and his fascist supporters. We can't protest down here in the U.S. anymore or we will be harrassed and threatened or worse thrown in a jail without charge and denied the right to contact friends or legal counsel. If people want to protest Bush and the neo-nazi fascists they will have to go to Canada or another free country. It is no longer allowed in the U.S. under Bush and the republicans.

thanks...

We've seen the attack on your civil liberties ....

We sympathize and will voice our opposition with the 49% of American voters in mind....

Should you know of any Americans willing to come up to join in the nationwide protest please forward all of the above info far and wide...

U.S. Missile Defence: Trojan Horse for Space Warfare
American activist Bruce Gagnon has been tirelessly investigating and
confronting U.S. STAR WARS schemes for over twenty years.
The Regina Peace Action Coalition is pleased to have Bruce come to
Saskatchewan on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tommy Douglas
despite Cold War hysteria Tommy supported the worldwide “Ban the Bomb”
petition and the call for nuclear disarmament. With impeccable foresight,
Tommy realized that the path of nuclear armament was one of increasing economic
and political instability and human impoverishment.
Today, humanity again faces a fundamental challenge this time we must
oppose the weaponization of space.

Thank you!

I just want to thank the Canadians so much for coming to our assitance at this time. We have a horrible situation down here in the states. Very embarassing. But.. these same international rightwing forces that are turning our U.S. into a dictatorship will not stop here. Eventually it will effect Canada too if we don't stand up to them. The pro-democracy, pro-freedom, pro-environment, pro-justice, pro-people forces must hang together or we'll hang seperately. Part of why I am posting this to cycle this valuable post back up to the top. We need to keep it there so people can read this valuable information on how many people in Canada are trying their best to help us.

Thanks again Canada

It seems like whenever I try to peacefully and legally protest at a Bush event here in the U.S. there is a total lack of respect for free speech shown by the Bush organizers and agents. They show up and intimidate people telling them to stand over there and when they do they tell them to stand some where else and laughing that it is soo funny they can boss American citizens around when they try to excercise their Constitutional rights. Bush and his followers trample on the U.S. Constitution. I am glad that people in Canada have free speech and they will speak for many of us in the U.S. who disagree with Bush but are being harassed.

Ajo, On behalf of Democrat

Ajo,

On behalf of Democrats and Americans of good will across this nation, please accept our thanks and gratitude for all that you do.

Bill and Apache.....it is

Bill and Apache.....

it is I that give you the thaks. It would be insincere for me to act as though this is merely an effort to show support for the 49% of you Americans....but take note that my own banner in Ottawa will be stating "in solidarity with 49% of USA voters"....I figure your numbers of opposition give further weight to our own...

Apache.....the administration is already affecting us....your eventual lack of environmental standards won't be contained within your borders, the Patriot Act is under scrutiny here after it was reported that American companies in Canada may have/or will give Canadian's private info to the US governemnt due to internal pressure, cases of Canadians visiting the USA labeled as "terrorists" and secretly deported to places such as Syria (torture friendly nations) to only then be found later innocent after public pressure forced the Canadian gov to show a bit of backbone in protecting its own citizens from the US, Bush drilling in ANWR which would destabalize our ecosystem, our economy sufferring consequences because we don't toll the line via US foreign policy (we were warned in context to Iraq), Missle Defence Shield...pressure from your administration for us to join....

we're all affected....

but thanks to individuals such as yourselves our fight doesn t go in vain...

have a wonderful day you two
