I commend war records and all that but after McCain let the Bush machine smear him like they did and still kiss his butt, and endorse him over Kerry, a fellow war hero, and man that had tried to work in a bi-partisan way with him in the Senate, I say the man is a coward and doesn't deserve to be President, no more respect from me for McCain!!!

I at one time had much repsect for McCain and even Powell, but their actions during this administration has made the credibility of both men worthless.
Although McCain running in 2008 would not be a good thing for simply because many people on both sides of the fence still respect the man.
So I seriously hope that he does not run, if he does we will need a VERY strong candidate.

McCain played a good hand with Rove/Dubya. He scared them just enough with "mild" criticism, and they promised him support in 2008 if he would get behind the re-election efforts of Rove/Dubya. He is not the "saviour of the moderate middle," he is just another Repug with his hand stuck out for a larger piece of the corrupt pie.

No way in hellsville will the reugs select a moderate such as McCain (or Powell.) The far right hate moderate repugs almost as much as they hate democrats. Having a moderate run against the far right will simply highlight the division within the repug party and show how out of touch they really are.
I agree that both McCain and Powell let us all down - especially themselves - by not walking away from Bush extremism sooner.
