Our good friend Michael Jay sent us this audio recording and transcript of Bush saying, last year, that wiretaps require a court order and that nothing has changed, "because we value the
constitution."

But Cheney Says President
But Cheney Says President Has Spying Authority. Case closed. I love to hear Right Wing Spin. Notice when the zombies talk, they say THIS President has the power but yet they didn't allow Clinton to stratch his balls without permission. Republicans talked about keeping Presidential powers in check UNTIL they entered the White House, now it is simply a big batchelor party.

The part I found fascinating
was that bush said it knowing full well that he had been illegally wiretapping for 2 years at the time. It was a direct, blatant lie . Now they are starting to spin that lie by saying that bush didn't mean that NSA wasn't tapping with out court approval... he meant who, what then?!

But the Republican spin says
But the Republican spin says that the Patriot Act gives the President permission to do anything. Here lies the dilemma - does the Patriot Act trump all laws ever written?

It doesn't trump
It doesn't trump the Constitution, of that I am sure!

How many times has Bush
How many times has Bush disregarded what the Constitution says? Let's start with Bush and Cheney coming from the same state when running for the White House in 2000. He was breaking the Constitution BEFORE getting in office and it has been down hill ever since. And let's remember that George pledged to defend the Constitution "to the best of his abilities" which most people clearly see his AWOL actions.
