Bush Authorized NSA Spying on Americans

(WashPost) President Bush signed a secret order in 2002 authorizing the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on U.S. citizens and foreign nationals in the United States, despite previous legal prohibitions against such domestic spying, sources with knowledge of the program said last night.

Pentagon Spies on Americans; Collects Info in Database

(CS Monitor) NBC News reported earlier this week that it had obtained a secret US Department of Defense document that shows the department is now monitoring "peaceful anti-war and counter-military recruitment groups." Today, The Washington Post reports that Pentagon officials say they will review the program, since NBC's document shows that information has been collected on "peace protesters and others whose activities posed no threat and should not have been kept on file."

Hearings Eyed In Wake Of Bush-NSA Spy Flap

Dear Misleader may have over-stepped his bounds, again.... Sen.'s Spector and McCain have twists in their panties over this, and Smirk's not commnenting

Hearings Eyed In Wake Of Spy Flap(FYI, CBS changed title of article to "Bush Silent On Spy Allegations", guess we can't be inferring his actions might be criminal, now can we?...) (CBS/AP) A key Republican committee chairman put the Bush administration on notice Friday that his panel would hold hearings into a report that the National Security Agency eavesdropped without warrants on people inside the United States. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said he would make oversight hearings by his panel next year "a very, very high priority." "There is no doubt that this is inappropriate," said Specter, a Pennsylvania Republican and chairman of the Judiciary Committee

Other key bipartisan members of Congress also called on the administration to explain and said a congressional investigation may be necessary... Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., appeared annoyed that the first he had heard of such a program was through a New York Times story published Friday. He said the report was troubling...

Look Out! Big Brother Bush is watchin' you! Just add it to the list of impeachable offences...

I wonder how the Bushbots

I wonder how the Bushbots are going to defend this.

Is everyone on this board

Is everyone on this board being watched? Will the crazy Right apologize to Michael Moore for telling us the truth years ago? Oh, I'm sorry, we are terrorists because we aren't "with" the president and it's all Michael Moore's fault. Wonder how they will blame this on Clinton?

WHATS NEW?

The Government has spied on liberals and peace lovers as far back as I can remember. All through the Viet Nam War they Spied on musicians, the Kennedys, and anyone else who spoke out against the war. It just tells me just how afraid they are of the left. That is also why they started the program of smearing the word liberal. All you had to do is say the word and every blue suited, red tied conservative would stomp all over the person who said it. The easy way to tell who is liberal and who is conservative is to watch how they dress. each President picks his favorite color suit. The conservatives immediately go out and buy the exact same color and they wear them the whole term. Those on the left wear whatever they want. Those who refuse to dress the way the President dresses is imediately under suspicion. They will be spied on. It's sort of pathetic if you think about it. It says a lot about how fearful the conservatives really are.
