Author of Downing St memo has been outed as MI6
The author of the Downing Street memo, Matthew Rycroft, has been outed as MI6.
I refer to the latest MI6 list, published by Cryptome, which includes the following:

All British Ambassadors are a part of SIS (MI6), but when he wrote the memo, he was not an Ambassador. That is why the Cryptome listing shows him as "new."
The Foreign Secretary has oversight of SIS, and delegates that oversight at the Embassy level to the Ambassador. US Ambassadors serve a similar function for the CIA. So, this is not exactly an "outing."
Besides
the "memo" is actually minutes of a meeting, not an actual memo that someone authored.
