This year's election, I have been paying close attention to the local and state issues. I joined my local Democratic Club in early September (side-tracked all year by problems in personal life or I would've joined right after last year's sElection), and attended my first meeting this month. It's been great, in fact, last year's Presidential Election gave the local Democratic Party here in Licking County, Ohio a new breath of life.

People have been volunteering all year round, and although it doesn't have the same level of energy that the Kerry Campaign gave us last year, it's still incredible. As you all may or may not know, a group known as "Reform Ohio Now" has succeeded in getting 4 Issues placed on the ballot for Nov, 8th. These issues (2-5) will make sure that Ohio's elections benefit the people and not special interests. Here's an example as to how they help:

Issue 2 = Makes Early Voting easier and more accessible to Ohioans.

Issue 3 = Limits the Campaign Contributions from $20,000 to $2,000. This will help to ensure that our representatives will do their best to serve their constituents, not just their corporate sponsors.

Issue 4 = Will place the duty of redistricting into the hands of a Bi-Partisan Committee.

Issue 5 = Will replace the Secretary of State (a partisan official) as the vote count official with a Bi-Partisan group.

With the "RON" Amendments, we can take one giant step forward to making sure that the tragedy of 2004 never takes place again ! I am also supporting Progressive Democrats that are running for local offices, and have been keeping in regular contact with them to see what I can do.

Next Year, we have a list of great candidates running at both the State and Federal level. With my district's Congressman (that twisted Bob Ney) in trouble, I have pledged my support for a man named Jeff Malloy (I will have to check later on his name spelling, I personally talked to him at a picnic here in licking county that was thrown by the party...where he formally announced his Candidacy)...Malloy is an incredible individual, and I will stick by him through the Primary and Congressional Elections...

Then there's Mike Dewine, I'm kind of still in the decision process right now on who to side with (out of the two announced opponents), but I am leaning towards Iraq WQar Veteran Paul Hackett, whom is seen as a great candidate to take on Dewine.

Either way, I am looking forward to every election that is taking place in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 (and beyond)...taking our country back...FROM THE GROUND, UP !!
