Ever since Zogby discovered in June that 42% of Americans think Bush should be impeached if (IF?!?!) he lied about Iraq, I have urged activists to pressure all media pollsters to measure support for impeachment.
Not a single one has done so, which strongly suggests Karl Rove has ordered these pollsters not to ask the question.
According to Raw Story, even Zogby refuses to ask about impeachment again, despite public statements that he would do so.
Australian blogger Lukery Ryland has been corresponding with Zogby for months.
"Zogby's justifications for not asking the impeachment question are spurious -- evidenced by the simple fact that he has already asked the question,” he wrote in an email. “The only condition that has changed since then is that the president's approval ratings have plummeted.”
"Over the summer, Zogby's position has morphed from 'probably in a month' to 'We'll get back to it in September' to 'we aim to remain impartial' to 'there is no constitutional duty here.' Zogby says that he won't be pressured to ask the impeachment question - but his constantly changing position leaves the distinct impression that he has been pressured NOT to ask it."
Ryland goes further: “Given Karl Rove's reputation, it would be surprising if he didn't try to pressure Zogby.”
Zogby says he hasn’t foreclosed the possibility of polling on impeachment again.
“I might ask it again, but I won’t be pressured to ask it,” he said. “If somebody wants to hire us to ask it, I’d consider that.”
Of course that's ridiculous - no one had to hire media pollsters to ask voters about Clinton's impeachment after the Lewinsky scandal broke, yet most of them asked the question. (Those polls found only 26% supported Clinton's impeachment and removal, but Republicans impeached Clinton anyway.)
So keep urging the pollsters to ask about impeachment - I've made it as easy as possible here.

Impeachment mentioned in House; Zogby, ante up!
Hello all. See my 9/23 note to Zogby below, and SEE THE NEWS ABOUT IMPEACHMENT BEING BROUGHT UP IN THE HOUSE OF REPS - then struck from the record. . .
Dear Mr. Conroy and Mr. Zogby,
I am aware that in a September 13 note to Australian blogger Lukery, you said that your company would not poll on impeachment again until it was brought up in Congress.
Are you aware that impeachment WAS raised in Congress on September 8th of this year, by Rep. Cynthia McKinney, who later found it was taken out of the Congressional Record?
Are you aware she also says that her microphone was turned off as she was speaking?
On 9/11/05, Representative McKinney wrote the following:
"I mentioned the word impeachment on the House Floor Thursday late afternoon, but I don't see it in the official Congressional Record Transcript. . . I can't believe this.. . . I'm told they also shut the microphone off as I was concluding my remarks - something I don't remember ever having been done to a Member before. . ."

Please, this time, live up to your word, and take that next impeachment poll.
Thank you for reading this.
Sincerely,

Thanks for leading the way on this, Bob
We should demand polling on impeachment. Once people see the widespread support for impeachment, millions of people will support our efforts to hold the Bush Gang to some level of accountability. Zogby's findings of 42% provisional support for impeachment "if" Bush lied about Iraq plus other polling that shows much of America understands Bush lied, plus Downing Street and other revelations all adds up to massive uncounted support for impeachment. We may have to pay Zogby and / or others to do the first round of polling, and pressure the mainstream media to follow up. Please see: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/polling
