Pelosi on Bush: "Oblivious, in denial, dangerous"

(AP) Congress' top two Democrats furiously criticized the administration's response to Hurricane Katrina on Wednesday, with Sen. Harry Reid demanding to know whether President Bush's Texas vacation impeded relief efforts and Rep. Nancy Pelosi assailing the chief executive as "oblivious, in denial" about the difficulties.

[...]

At a news conference, Pelosi, D-Calif., said Bush's choice for head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency had "absolutely no credentials."

She related that she had urged Bush at the White House on Tuesday to fire Michael Brown.

"He said 'Why would I do that?'" Pelosi said.

"'I said because of all that went wrong, of all that didn't go right last week.' And he said 'What didn't go right?'"

"Oblivious, in denial, dangerous," she added.

What didn't go wrong?!

Let us start with the project death of 10,000 Americans!

How about the people that were stranded for five days in the convention center and no one even knew they were there?

Bush's exceedingly distant, lack of compassion and arrogance is more than dangerous. He is narcissistic and is a psychopath. Just read the definition:

Psychopath- (n) Someone with no burdened of conscience. A profound lack of empathy. They use other people callously and remorselessly for their own ends

"The first casualty when war comes is truth."

I liked Pelosi's remarks the

I liked Pelosi's remarks the other day. If George Bush wants to find out who is responsible for this, he need look no further than in the mirror! Good stab, Nancy!

like it's some kind of federal program."

His apparently baffled

His apparently baffled question, "what didn't go right?" make me shudder, but it may also reveal his diminished mental state, he could well be cracking under the pressure. Am wondering if perhaps we should not demand an psych eval.

Cracking Under Pressure

Proof of just that:

  • We can use the Constitution's 25th Amendment (XXV-1967) to have him removed- the procedures for replacing a president who becomes incapacitated or unable to discharge his duties.

"The first casualty when war comes is truth."
  • One problem

Who would we replace him with? All of his successors are as bad or worse than he is.

Now the WH is claiming that

Now the WH is claiming that the meeting between Bush and Pelosi was not the way that she represented it. So basically he is calling her a liar.

Write a letter to congressman about the resolution of inquiry

Here is a sample letter. Support your congressman if he/she would consider supporting the impeachment resolution.

    Congressman
    Congressman Address

    Dear Congressman :

I am most concerned about this and have contacted you before about it. The president's most important job, according to him, is to protect American's lives. I agree. While he has many other important tasks, this trumps everything else. If he fails in this, he shouldn't be president.

His record on doing this is troubling. As you know, there is vast criticism on his handling of Katrina rescue efforts. It was four days after Katrina hit before he ever pulled away from vacation, birthday parties, and engaging in normal activities. It appeared he didn't have a clue what his role should be and was waiting for someone to tell him. FEMA's lack of response was disgraceful due to the president's choice of an incompetent director of this agency. Considering other appointments he has made, like his choice of John Bolton, he appears to feel safer with incompetent appointments to important positions than with competent ones, a dangerous practice for a president.

After he finally got focused on relief efforts, he seemed more interested in photo-ops than in helping relief efforts. His next interest was finding scapegoats. He also offered to "investigate himself". That would be a joke if it wasn't so serious. The buck stops with him. The levees broke because of diversion of funds the corp of engineers and New Orleans officials pleaded for but were diverted elsewhere making the disaster much worse. This was entirely foreseeable. The president gets an "F" for his handling of the whole Katrina disaster. There is no telling how many are dead because of his failure, not to mention the cost of evacuating a large city.

On 9/11, we now know there was an enormous amount of evidence that an attack was eminent.
We also had an idea how it was going to happen. Hindsight is always 20/20 but we knew enough that any of a number of small actions or precautions could have stopped it. The president was on vacation for 42 days before this, not on the job, in spite of the indications that were building. As 9/11 was happening, again he failed to react until much later. Seven more minutes reading "My Pet Goat". The administration's favorite way of dealing with criticism has always been stonewalling, blaming others (Richard Clarke), diverting attention to something else. They had to be forced by the families of victims to hold any hearings at all.

The war was to "make us safer". We are less safe and it appears the war was a mistake. Almost 2000 of our own are dead, God knows how many Iraqi civilians, our budget is busted to smithereens and over half of Americans believe the president lied to take us to war. Even putting the most optimistic face on the war, we still have to admit it was poorly planned, resulting in many unnecessary American deaths. Additionally, when we had the real enemy, Osama Bin Laden, trapped at Torra Bora, we apparently let him escape by diverting our forces to Iraq.

The president steadfastly refuses to investigate the ongoing scandal regarding his adviser Karl Rove outing the identity of one of our operatives, possibly an act of treason. These actions mentioned barely scratch the surface in a long list of his unacceptable actions.

Looking at George W. Bush's overall record beginning with his running two businesses into the ground (not very important in comparison to what he is doing now), his failure to protect lives in emergency response and in war planning, his total failure to see or react to foreseeable disasters, a total lack of personal integrity, his consistent stonewalling to cover up anything unfavorable to his performance, his refusal to learn from failures, his reputation abroad, and countless more extreme shortcomings, I have to conclude he is totally incompetent for the critically important office he is in, the presidency of the United States. How many more will die because of his failure to see foreseeable approaching calamities? These are enough!

Realizing I can relegate myself to the loony bin in even hinting at the "I" word, I've seen enough to believe we have to explore the possibility of impeachment. To begin with, I'm asking you to support the Resolution of Inquiry initiative now in the house. Let's bring out the facts regarding the Downing Street Memo and clear the air. If the charges regarding the manipulated intelligence are not true, let's find out. If they are, we must hold the guilty accountable. The American public needs this. Polls show a very low regard for congress. Getting to the truth is always helpful.

I also believe a thorough bipartisan investigation (not a whitewash) is vitally necessary on New Orleans.

    Very truly yours,

    I wrote Senator Durbin

I wrote a letter to Senator Durbion asking about our involvement in such an investigation. In healthcare, this event is clearly a sentinel event and must be investigated, dissected, and have a plan of action in 45 days. We need a commission that includes the injured parties and othe Americans working on it. Answers are needed before Senator Frist's February 2006 date. Hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and earthquakes don't occur on Frist's time schedule.

Yeah, I keep forgetting how much Bush has brought this country together! Who was that dividing the country on gay marriage, right to choose, Iraq?
