A letter to Congressman Connie Mack of Florida

September 1, 2005

The Honorable Connie Mack
United States House of Representatives
317 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515-0914

Congressman Mack:

I am writing you to urge you to support the Resolution of Inquiry (H Res 375) by Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) and 59 co-sponsors to require the White House and the State Department to "transmit all information relating to communication with officials of the United Kingdom between January 1, 2002, and October 16, 2002, relating to the policy of the United States with respect to Iraq."

It has become increasing clear that the war in Iraq was based on false pretenses, fabricated lies and a President over-zealous to go to war before all the facts, plans and exit strategies were in place. The nation of Iraq is far less stable, more violence filled and the place of countless, senseless deaths, than before our illegal and unsubstantiated invasion.

President Bush has shifted his reasons for the war and continuation of our presence there numerous times now. Most recently, he has openly admitted that the war, and lack of exit strategy, is based on the oil there and not the liberation of the Iraqi people. A majority of the population, 59%, now believe the war was a mistake and 42% believe President Bush should be impeached and removed from office if he lied to Congress in outlining his reasons for going to war in Iraq.

Only 26% of those same people believed former President Clinton should have been impeached, yet those proceeding were granted by Congress! There is obviously an overwhelming larger preponderance of people that believe President Bush should be compelled to answer the many questions surrounding the invasion of Iraq.

I support Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s Resolution of Inquiry and request that you do the same. The American people, as our Constitution grants us, depend on their elected officials to faithfully represent the majority views of the constituents they represent. I urge you to support this bill and demand that the Bush administration answer the many questions about this endless, futile war and help restore America to a nation of peace, progress and freedom.
