Renegade Georgia Senator’s reasons for betraying the Democratic Party exposed by Whistleblower

Press Release: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Zell Miller Corruption Network Runs Deep

In August 2002 Ron Mayhew, a businessman from Ellijay, Georgia met with the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, William S. Duffey. He turned over information concerning billions of dollars of fraud at United Community Bank (UCB, known as Zell Miller’s bank) and Gilmer County Bank (GCB, started by principals of United Community Bank). Duffey was immediately interested in the information because he was then prosecuting the sons of a very close Zell Miller associate. The men were Curtis and Douglas Colwell of Blairsville, Georgia.

Duffey assigned FBI agent Tim Coakley to investigate the matters.

Mayhew turned over to the FBI, the Federal Reserve, the FDIC and other agencies a long list of criminal activities by Miller’s network done to defraud property owners and funnel embezzled funds and properties into the hands of Miller's associates. Mayhew turned over forgery on bank collateral, falsified appraisals on real estate loans, false liens filed in court by attorney Jeb Chatham of Ellijay to profit Bob Thomas of Ellijay, backdating of loans, embezzling of interest paid to GCB, tax fraud by the banks, use of non-existent collateral to structure loans for fraud, mortgage title insurance fraud used to bribe lawyers, illegal insider trading to loot Gilmer County Bank by its board of directors, under reporting liabilities by UCB to gain admission to the NASDAQ. Mayhew was personally issued an illegal fine of $8,751,600.00 on a land development project by Fannin County and Georgia State officials three days after George Bush’s inauguration on January 20, 2001. State and county officials fabricated charges of mud running into a stream. The Director of the State Environmental Protection Agency, Harold Reheis, determined there was no mud run off and there wasn't even a stream. Reheis called Fannin County's action a "discriminatory action", yet he refused to correct Fannin County’s corruption.

Zell Miller’s network is known in North Georgia as "The Program". Attorneys closing in -house real estate loans are regularly bribed into selling out clients in favor of The Program. They are allowed to embezzle the title insurance money collected in the closing costs of the real estate loans. The title insurance is never purchased. In many cases, the lawyer issues a falsified title insurance policy. The State Commissioner of Insurance, Republican John Oxendine, and the FDIC sanction this criminal activity.

Bush had to win the South to be re-elected. Zell Miller's future and the future of his family were at stake.

On June 25, 2003 Duffey obtained convictions in federal court on the Colwells for a $1,000,000.00 insurance fraud scheme. They never went to jail. The sentencing judge made a huge departure from the federal sentencing guidelines allowing Miller's friends avoid incarceration.

That same day FBI agent Coakley met with Mayhew and told him in a recorded conversation that Duffey had turned off all of the criminal investigations into Zell Miller’s banks and his associates. Coakley commented that the situation was "very frustrating" for the FBI, the matter should have been prosecuted and it would have had a major impact on the community. He stated that he could not make the FDIC go in and do what needed to be done. Coakley told Mayhew, "you are going to have to go somewhere outside their circle to fight it." Just as he had told many other individuals.

Duffey turned off the investigations into Miller’s banks and associates so that Miller could fly around on Air Force One campaigning for George Bush without the taint of criminal investigations.

Zell Miller began to sell out his Democratic Party in earnest. He wrote a book critical of the entire field of Democratic presidential candidates. All of Miller’s key votes in the Senate went with the Republicans.

Bush rewarded Duffey with a nomination for a federal judgeship in November 2003. Miller recommended him, endorsed him and voted for his confirmation. Duffey now sits as a federal judge in Rome, Georgia, minding the store for The Program. Rome, Georgia is the center of the federal jurisdiction for Miller’s banks.

Miller handed the South to Bush in a furious speech before the Republican National Convention in 2004.

Miller’s network has since spun out of control initiating foreclosure on paid off loans, issuing falsified loan assignments on paid off loans and making loans using other peoples property as collateral.

North Georgia has one of the highest real estate foreclosure rates of any region in the United States. Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan has stated the fraud must end. Yet, Greenspan's own organization is turning its back in Georgia. There might as well be no Federal Reserve, FDIC, FBI or U.S. Department of Justice in Georgia. No one is guarding the citizens from the fraud of Zell Miller’s network. Unsuspecting individuals who finance property with banks in Georgia can easily find themselves a target of one of Miller's associates wanting to embezzle from them their property using corrupt government officials and crooked bankers who act with impunity.

George Bush’s promises to clean up the corporate fraud ring as hollow and false as his reasons to go to war in Iraq. George Bush and the Republican Party have done nothing but amplify the corruption in a state that has demanded a change. He has plunged this country into a corrupt war and buried the citizens of Georgia in that same corruption for his own selfish interests.

Class Action Suits were the last best hope

to bring remedy to the wronged here.... but the recent legislation that moves class actions of a certain amount from state court to federal court means that the suit would end up in front of Duffey anyway.

Can you doubt how well-orchestrated the GOP coup is? They are not carefully building a society based on their convictions (e.g. tort reform,e tc)... they targeting certain laws that are the last recourse of the average person in order to avoid criminal convictions for their own vices.

Why have not the democrats investigated Zell Miller for ethics violations... do we not have some mechanism in our own party to do this?

Now why would a Republican

Now why would a Republican post a node on Democrats.com advising us about the evils of Zell Miller? Does he think that we have been asleep, or out of town for the past couple of years? I'm always leery of Republicans bearing gifts.

And for Real American, the Democrats (notice the capital D?) haven't investigated Zell for the same reason that they haven't investigated Tom DeLay -- the Republicans control all of the committees. See how that works...?

Bill, a Republican Bearing Gifts???

Yo, Bill...

This guy Mayhew's a Repub? You think he's an interloper? What's your source of info? Inquiring minds want to know...

I tried to track him down to find a repub connection, no luck... He's not left a lot of tracks on the interent... through various key word searches I did turn up some hits that seem to confirm his Naval service... but not much else, unless he's had thyroid surgery or is a photography buff...

According to his profile, he

According to his profile, he is a Republican and he did not deny it when I pointed it out.

Well, duh...

I didn't check his profile... still, he's got to be computer savvy and not left many tracks on the 'net.... kinda spooky...

One footprint is on the APFN msg board in a reply an apfn researcher posted concerning BCCI and Bush/Bin Laden connections...

A node posting republican

You ask why?

There is a bigger issue here that cries out for attention; Our Constitution is being destroyed by Bush and his skull & bones cronnies.

I not only want this man out of office but I am advocating his arrest, prosecution and lengthly stay in prison.

There have been real crimes committed against the people of America. You want real issues and truth, visit my site, add a comment if you so wish.

Monitor,

Could we bother you to discuss what it is you don't like about Bush, without always going back to S&B in various threads all over this board?

There are republicans who come to democratic websites for the sole purpose of posting information like that just so that they can go running back to Bush's paid off media to call us a bunch of lunatics.

I'm sure you can think of reasons to dislike Bush's presidency, without consistently listing his membership in S&B - after all, that ground has been well covered by you, and Lord knows that there is plenty to dislike besides that...

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

I too, would be interested

I too, would be interested in actually reading those other (besides S&B ) reasons....

Dislikes in Bush

I have spent 18 years of my life as a military officer and have sworn by my very life itself to protect the people who are under the protection of the United States Constitution.

I see a bigger picture that is emerging within America, one that I wish to stop . . . not just talk about.

My actions thus far has cost me a 45% reduction of my pension, lost of certain mititary benefits and secret inquiries made by goverment officials into my private life for speaking out against Bush.

But this is bigger than Bush, and the agenda is being set by skull & bones; their purpose: One World Order.

These people have resourses far reaching that can be believed. Our Constitution is being destroyed, my country is being manipulated by the power of the skull & Bones Society.

This upcoming elections for the senate race I will vote democrate not because I am a democrate but to nuetralize the nuclear option abilities of the Bush Adminstration.

These base closings are no coincidence - it has purpose, to house those who oppose Bush, to be used for prison or holding camps.

You think you know the real story to 9/11 and the attack on America . . . wake-up, this is larger than you would ever believe.

Personally I am supporting the presidential ticket 2008 with Biden/McCain.

My answer is simple: I will oppose all who try to destroy the US Constitution, you included if I knew you were committing such an act.

First of all Monitor, there

First of all Monitor, there is no proof of a S&B conspiracy. None, nada, zilch. Their membership is made up of a number of wannabe power-mongers, but that seems to be the extent of it. On the other hand, PNAC, The Federalist Society, and the RNC are polluted with the true neocons, and those who would undermine our constitution.

Secondly, Biden is a do-nothing DLC Democrat and does not deserve the backing of the Democratic Party. Similarly, McCain is a "moderate" wolf in sheep's clothing and his neocon masters would not let him run on a Democratic ticket.

You are not the only one on this blog who has served their country, and many of us are vets. Where you DO stand out however, is that you are a Republican on a Liberal Democratic blog.

signing off

. . . then so be it. I do not force myself on anyone nor do I go where I am not wanted.

You however need to study and know your facts. you are truely misleading these people - and you certainly do not know the difference between truth and fiction.

Good luck to you all, I will still continue to pursue Bush's arrest and prosecution and ultimate imprisonment.

God Bless you all !

forwarding your sentiments

Joe Biden is a personal friend and I will be sure that he has the opportunity to see what you think of him.

It is not just "my"

It is not just "my" sentiments, but the sentiments of many members of this blog who are opposed to the way Biden and his ilk at the DLC have dragged this Party to the brink of oblivion.

If Biden is a "personal" friend of yours, then that may explain some of your reasoning. And please by all means, tell Joe what I, and many other Liberal Democrats, think of him. Tell him to also pass those sentiments along to Lieberman, Feinstein, and the rest of his self-appointed DLC cronies.

I like Biden. What is

I like Biden.

What is pathetic is that amidst his well posed thoughts are a series of intellectual falsehoods that “moderates” feel are simply nuance or compromise. They are neither, they are simply false.

Amidst his well tuned “moderate” rhetoric he, and other “moderates”, are actually spitting on Christians and the middle class.

Just watch as the tide turns. When suddenly it is realized that: oh there is another, quieter Christian in the land that they COULD be representing but are not. When just as suddenly they realize that: oh people are starting not to give a shit about bullshit arguments for why it is critical for money to clump around the very few.

Suddenly those “moderate” stands will show them to be in the Aristocrats camp. Liberal Democrats are as truly moderate as you can get!

I have to say that I admire nuance. I admire a love of Free Enterprise. I have been awestruck by it as the decades have past and as I’ve watched its workings personally and more broadly. The “moderates” do a good job of making it seem as if Liberal Democrats just don’t understand the culture of Christianity or the culture of Free Enterprise. They do a good job of explaining the nuances behind why Communism is wrong, both morally and with respect to efficiency. Of why workers can’t demand $25 an hour as a minimum wage.

Well, thanks for the heads up!

See what I mean?

You had my interest until it devolved into S&B again. Then I quit reading.

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

I alluded to it before: It

I alluded to it before: It is your duty to be effective.

Regardless of what patterns you see emerging, there are patterns which everyone already agrees exist. The Nation is split on these and should not be! You must undo the brainwashing with respect to the obvious before you can hope to move on to more “subtle” matters.

Monitor, please stop using

Monitor, please stop using Democrats.com to promote your website. Moderators will begin removing links and references to your website beginning now. If you persist, you will be banned.

Consider yourself warned.

What?

What was that supposed to mean?
This is not a Republican/Democrat issue.
This is a matter of justice and the Constitution.

As for being a Republican/Democrat.
This country can't survive another four years after Bush with another Republican in office.

Bush has been an eye opener.

Don't get off track.

These issues raised in this post require a Congressional investigation and a special prosecutor.

This is impeachment material. It is of a greater magnitude than Nixon's Watergate. It is better documented and very factual.

Then why don't you try to

Then why don't you try to convince your partisan buddies over at Free Republic, or even the RNC just how important this issue is?

And as for your advice to "Don't get off track," do you even understand what our "track" is all about here at Democrats.com? I suspect that you haven't a clue about what we progressive Democrats are trying to accomplish. We have been working very hard to regain control of our Party, and to counter the neo-conservatives in this country who would try to subvert the US Constitution.

So please, don't come on here and pontificate about "bi-partisanship" when it is the extreme Republicans who have abused their so-called "mandate."

You are correct about one thing however -- this country can not stand another Republican in office anywhere in this country. Your Party has proven that the only thing that matters to them is personal power, and greed. We liberal and progressive Democrats have an obligation to this country, and to ALL Americans to put a stop this lunacy. And before you go off about Zell Miller, understand one thing: he is NOT a Democrat, and does not represent us.

That's what "that" was supposed to mean.

100% Correct- Zell Miller is NOT a Democrat....

So why is he pandering to Hillary Clinton?

It's called damage control for him.

Zell Miller is for only one thing. Zell Miller.

The cover up of his criminal organization in Georgia is proof of that.

This case that I have presented is a golden opportunity for the Democrats to take back the South.

If Democratic politicians will bring justice to the citizens of Georgia, then they can re-claim the moral high ground that Miller gave to Bush.

I was raised in a Democratic state by a Democratic voting father.

My first vote after turning 18 was for Jimmy Carter for president.

So what does all of that have to do with the facts presented?

The Bush administration knows that citizens of Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida are being ripped off by Zell Miller's network known as The Program. (Documented in recorded conversations with Miller's associates)

The Program is explained in detail in the recordings that I have, yet Duffey lets them all walk.

Then, Duffey gets his appointment as a federal judge.

No Republican is going to act on this issue. Already been there and done that, with all of them. They can't act because it goes to their President!

Hmm,

But if Ron wants to join us and bring down the Bush, more power to him...

I agree, Justin

I'm sure there are a number of people who are having second thoughts
about GW and the BA.

And- they are growing in numbers.

I Spoke to "Repub Ron"

I called and left a message and he returned my call. Seemed like a fairly straight shooter. No hidden agenda detected. Not particularly partisan. Perhaps a bit misguided, or lost, wanderin' into dems.com and registering as a Repub, though. Claimed to have been raised in a Dem household and voted Dem before switching to vote for Ronnie Raygun.... and claimed to have voted both ways over the years since. (my wife had done the same before we met, there are plenty of folks who aren't, or weren't, very partisan one way or the other before the national polarization set in).

He seems to genuinely want to get this story of his out, so I directed him toward bradblog and rawstory as they are more inclined toward sensational type "exclusive breaking news".

Kwalf is right in that there are more and more dis-affected repubs waking up to the fact that the country's being run into the ground by this criminal cabal... so what do we do with them? Send them on their way back into the wilderness or find some way to be more accommodating?

Who knows, we might have another "Clint Curtiss' with a story to tell...

You have a valid point Pat,

You have a valid point Pat, but my question is: how do we separate the posers from the real McCoy? Freepers as a rule are sneaky little buggers, and come in all sizes and flavors.

There is too much at stake right now to allow ourselves to be distracted by avowed Republicans. I realize that anyone can change -- just ask most of the inmates in any lockup. Realizing the damage that you have caused after-the-fact is more than often too little, too late.

Having said all of that however, I would welcome with open arms any Republican who has seen the error of their ways in helping to put this neocon band of criminals in office, and is honestly willing to support the Democratic cause.

Actually, I would rather have a converted Republican than an "Independent" any day.

Bill, I'll trust your BS detector

It's pretty well attuned to fReepage. One indicator, as with Ron, is using his real name and providing contact info. That's why I called. Curiosity got the better of me, had to hear this story from the horse's mouth to try and get a handle on credibility, as it were... or is that the elephant's mouth?

What about judicial review?

have they even gone through the motions?

Mourn not the dead that in the cool earth lie, but rather mourn the apathetic throng, the coward, and the meek, who see the world's great anguish and its wrong, and dare not speak.
Ralph Chaplin

Ron,

Republicans are in majority. As such, they control everything.

How many republican legislators have you/your republican friends written to get something started with this, and who did you write?

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

Necco Nailed it

There is no need for a Republican to come here and tell us George Bush needs to go - we never wanted him in the White House in the first place. Since the Republicans have all the power, he should be screaming at party leaders to do something. Republicans are the ones that need to expel the President for being so corrupt and saying "we do not stand for this type of behavior." Democrats have a problem too and we are trying to get rid of the Republican-lite amoung our party. I don't think the Republicans can clean their party up even with all the cleaning products in the world but it would be nice if they tried.

"They want the federal government controlling Social Security

like it's some kind of federal program."

- George W. Bush in a debate in St. Charles, Mo., Nov. 2, 2000

Ron !!

If you have proof beyond a doubt that there is corruption within UCB with Zell's leading the team of wagons respond to this and I will call you and give you a physical address to forward copies to , We have UCBs' here in NC of which I keep a substancial amount of money in , I will personally give this evidence to the NCAG Roy Cooper (D) and go public with it also , IF there is credability to said evidence !

STOP BITCHIN !!

Credible Evidence

Thank you for your reply!
Yes. I have in my possession unrefutable evidence of corruption in those banks.
I would not dare write and publish such accusations without the proof.
I have recorded conversations with bank presidents and VPs, the FBI, the FTC and many state of Georgia officials and individuals who control the bank's activities.
I have certified court documents proving this fraud.

The evidence is, again, irrefutable.
How about a bank president in a tape recorded conversation telling me he lied to bank regulators (30 yr in prison, $1,000,000 fine) to hide a $1,300,000 loan.
That is just the tip of the iceberg.
The list of crimes in my post can be individually proven.

Anywhere UCB exists, this corruption follows.
I will be glad to speak with you.

I'll give you a call tomorrow in the am.

I'm actually only about an hour east of you , I'll talk at you then

Renegade Georgia Senator's reasons

Thank you for this privilege. I talked to Ron Mayhew on Oct 5. I was given his name by a host of whistle blowers in the west. I too am a Whistle Blower with a qui tam case in the federal court of Eastern North Carolina. I am from NC and I have gone the route with the Republican Party trying to expose my discovery. I have met with the DOJ three times, FBI six times, the FDIC once and with the general counsel for Congressman Oxley. My case involves the defunct S&Ls. I was certified as a minority contractor to do work with the FDIC in real estate and environmental consulting involving their many assets that they were managing for the taxpayers. I can prove, with the FDIC's own database, the falsification of over 400,000 properties from 737 institutions. I can track the asset from the S&L to the courthouse. I can prove the who, where, what, when and why of each asset, the oversight person and their federal ID number. I'm as frustrated as Ron Mayhew. I'm an American - regardless of my registration - and I care about my country. I'm willing to talk but who is willing to listen? I admire the Ron Mayhews of the world and intend to work with him. Somehow we will get the right people mad. Thank you Bill Harding and others for allowing me to vent. All my family are Democrats. I registered Republican because everthing in life needs balance. THANK YOU.

Welcome to Democrats.com

Welcome to Democrats.com Shirley. I agree that you are an American first, just as we Liberal Democrats are. Where we part ways, lies in the level of support we give to politicians who would "take away," rather than contribute to the common welfare of the nation.

We traditional Democrats have our own brand of corporate panderers (the DLC) who would "take away," from the common good, and we are working hard to set our own house in order. We only ask that Middle American Republicans do the same on their side of the street.

Americans who choose one political party over another, do so for many reasons, and that is the way it should be. The two-party political system has served this American experiment in democracy well. The current breed of neoconservatives however, are as far from the principles of democratic Americanism as any group I have seen in my lifetime.

They embody the thinking of people like Tom DeLay, who believes that if he follows his own interpretation of the extreme letter-of-the-law (loopholes and all), he then satisfies his own "moral principles." In his heart-of-hearts however, he MUST know that he is violating the spirit-of-the-law for purely partisan purposes. He does not serve ALL Americans -- only those who agree with him, and he does it dishonestly.

This is the difference between honest Americanism, and shady political dealings and pandering. There are many "Tom DeLays" in the Republican Party today, beginning with the Oval Office and its "advisors," and continuing throughout Congress.

Political compromise is attainable, but it needs to start from the middle, and not from the extreme ends of the political spectrum. I firmly believe that, if left to their own innermost non-partisan thinkng, most true Americans are, to some extent, fiscally conservative, and socially liberal.

I agree

I agree with everything you said Ron. Thanks for replying. I believe there are many "Tom DeLays" in both parties and they all have to be weeded out. I consider myself fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I do not contribute to either party The government broke me long ago. I am a white woman who owns my own business - that classifies me as a minority with the government I had five exclusive real estate contracts in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. I spent a year of my own money upfront before the minority firm I was working for breeched my contracts for no reason. The firm was owned by a Philadelphia lawyer and a Chicago accountant. I then found five checks made out to me in the public official FDIC records for over $60,000 dollars that I did not receive. I wondered how many other thousands of checks were listed for the "wrong" people. I then filed my Whistle Blowing case. It has been covered up by Democrats in the North Carolina US Attorneys office and the FDIC. It is definitely a partisan coverup so nobody wins. I am trying hard to expose both parties. This case involves the defunct S&Ls, the biggest financial disaster ever - $1.4 trillion. The big banks who stole the little banks have deep pockets. The DOJ could have joined my case and collected billions for the taxpayers but partisan politics won't let them.

Ron

Ron you didn't miss my call , I actually had an emergency come up and by the time I got back into the swing of things I couldn't find your number , hell I couldn't even remember your name and my searches here at Dems.com were fruitless , But I've found it now so expect a call before long -----Ray

Interesting Thread

This is one of the more interesting threads I've run into. As I read the many messages, one thought that occurred to me is: Are the many publications on paper or on the Web that try to pursue these types of stories doing anything about any of them? We now know NOT to expect the New York Times to pursue anything that would truly reach to the heart of the ruling elite. But America is full of investigators eager to pursue such things (In These Times, The Nation, to name only two). So if there's a trail to follow here, are the whistleblowers feeding stuff to them or only Bush's trained dogs in the Justice Department, the Fed, and the IRS? See there's ANOTHER Democrat named Lyndon Larouche who likes to make all sorts of allegations that he can't really back up. Plus we now have CBS' story of being fed "proof" of something which the White House knew could be blown out of the water. Dan Rather struck at the bait and is now history. I think the leftwing media is going to be more careful than Dan was. These fake stories are probably constantly being floated to see what other leftwing institutions or even centrist institutions can be smeared by it. This is Karl Rove politics.

One other related question. If Joe Biden and Joe Liebermann are dangerous liabilities, are they HONEST dangerous liabilities or do they have Zell Miller-style secrets that are used to blackmail them into supporting the insupportable?

One last reflection. Anybody remember the San Jose Mercury blowing the CIA's cover in Central America and the NYT, LA Times, Washington Post, and a few other similar publications ganging up on the Mercury to debunk the expose? After ensuing events, it seems to me that now the Mercury is probably the CLEANEST of the lot. (see http://tinyurl.com/dtzs9)
