Yep, John Bolton perjured himself by submitting a false affidavit to the Senate. State Dept. claims he "DIDN'T REMEMBER" testifying in a joint State Dept/CIA investigation into the false claims and forged documents concerning Iraq attempting to buy Uranium from Niger. You know? The little sixteen words in Dim Son's '03 State of the Dis-Union Address? That ultimately led to PlameGate/ RoveGate? Doesn't matter, old news, our Tin Horn Texas Dictator's gonna install Bolton's lying carcass anyway. At least that's what all the "un-named sources" have been floatin' to the corporate mediawhores... First up, a couple takes on the perjurious statement...
(AP) - State Dept. Now Says Bolton Interviewed
John Bolton, President Bush's nominee for U.N. ambassador, neglected to tell Congress he had been interviewed in a government investigation into faulty prewar intelligence that Iraq was seeking nuclear materials in Africa... Democratic senators said the admission should forestall Bush from using his authority to give Bolton a temporary appointment to the U.N. post, without Senate confirmation, when the Senate goes on vacation in August. Bolton was interviewed by the State Department inspector general in 2003 as part of a joint investigation with the CIA into prewar Iraqi attempts to buy nuclear materials from Niger... His statement came hours after another State Department official said Bolton had correctly answered a Senate questionnaire when he wrote that he had not testified to a grand jury or been interviewed by investigators in any inquiry over the past five years... The reversal followed persistent Democratic attempts, led by Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., to question Bolton's veracity just days before Bush could make Bolton's a recess appointment, meaning he could occupy the U.N. post until the end of next year when the current Congress ends. "It seems unusual that Mr. Bolton would not remember his involvement in such a serious matter," said Biden, "In my mind, this raises more questions that need to be answered. I hope Bush will not make the mistake of recess appointing Mr. Bolton."
Next is Reuters take -
(Reuters) - State Dept admits Bolton gave inaccurate answers
The State Department reversed itself on Thurs. night and acknowledged that Bush's U.N. ambassador nominee gave Congress inaccurate information about an investigation he was involved in. The acknowledgment came after the State Department had earlier insisted nominee John Bolton's "answer was truthful" when he said he had not been questioned or provided information to jury or government investigations in the past five years. "When Mr. Bolton completed his form during the Senate confirmation process he did not recall being interviewed by the State Department inspector general...," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said. Earlier, Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware said he had information Bolton was interviewed as part of a State Dept- CIA joint investigation on intelligence lapses that led to the Bush administration's pre-Iraq war claim that Iraq tried to buy uranium from Niger. Biden, the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, said that should have been noted on the questionnaire, for which nominees swear out affidavits stating the information is true and accurate. "It now appears that Mr. Bolton's answers may not meet that standard," Biden wrote in a letter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Here's three pieces on the plans to "install" Bolton, all based on "un-named sources", of course... Sounds like a lot like trial balloonage, or, more likely, psychological preparation for the public of the blatant abuse of power to come...
Officials: Bush Plans to Install Bolton
(AP) - Administration officials say President Bush is preparing to use constitutional powers rarely employed for major appointments to bypass the Senate and install - if only temporarily - John Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Bush intends to use a recess appointment to put the controversial conservative in the post before leaving Washington on Tuesday to spend August at his Texas ranch, said two officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because Bush has not made the announcement... "It's the wrong thing to do. John Bolton is the wrong person for the job," said Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., a member of Foreign Relations Committee. "The president is entitled to take that action, but I don't think it will serve American foreign policy well." Jim Manley, a spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said a recess appointment of this "badly flawed, ill-suited candidate" would be an abuse of power.
(CBS/AP) Bolton's Recess Appointment On Tap
President Bush intends to announce next week that he is going around Congress to install embattled nominee John Bolton as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, senior administration officials said Friday. Mr. Bush has the power to fill vacancies without Senate approval while Congress is in recess. Under the Constitution, a recess appointment during the lawmakers' August break would last until the next session of Congress, which begins in January 2007. An end run around the Senate confirmation process would certainly annoy senators — particularly Democrats — at a time when Mr. Bush's nomination of John Roberts to serve on the Supreme Court hangs in the balance. It also could hamper Bolton at the United Nations, by sending him there as a short-timer without the Senate's backing. "There's just too much unanswered about Bolton and I think the president would make a truly serious mistake if he makes a recess appointment," Sen. Joseph Biden...
LA Times -Bush Plans to Bypass Senate, Appoint Bolton
Bush will sidestep Democratic opposition to his nomination of John R. Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations by making a recess appointment not subject to Senate confirmation, a senior administration official said Friday. The appointment, which is likely to further roil relations with congressional Democrats, will be announced before the president leaves Washington on Tuesday for a five-week working vacation at his Texas ranch, said the official, who requested anonymity because Bush had not yet publicly disclosed his intentions. The (Tin Horn Texas Dictator) was expected to proceed despite the disclosure that Bolton had made a false statement to a Senate committee. Democrats made a fresh appeal Friday that Bush not bypass the confirmation process by using his power to appoint Bolton during the month long congressional recess that starts this weekend. The White House and State Department said the incorrect information Bolton submitted to lawmakers was an unintentional mistake...

5 week vacation????
Isn't that what started it all? The month of vacation in Texas in 2001? Bush's ratings were in the toilet then, now they are actually in the sewer. Bush needs something to get the attention off his possible connection with Rove outing CIA operative. Also Iran might be playing into this. http://www.amconmag.com/2005_08_01/article3.html
Terror attacks have been happening in London and some say that the U.S. will be hit within 90 days (see http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,161962,00.html) - and Bush wants to go on vacation? Sounds too familiar!
I know that Bush will appoint Bolton to the U.N. THEN I hope that Americans will truly see that we are being ruled by a dictator! At least if Bush bypasses the confirmation hearings on Bolton, MAYBE the world we see that Bolton doesn't truly represent Americans - HOPEFULLY! The world knows that Bush is a fool, I just wonder when "51%" of the voters will see it too!

Lying in the name of Bush
I agree that we have become a dictatorship. The American people think that John Bolton should not be sent to the United Nations. He is an insult to the nations of the world and an embarassment for us. In addition, he suffers from lack of memory or,more likely, a lack of honesty and ethics in his lapse of memory about prior testimony in a State Department investigation. What a statement George will make when he appoints him. It is okay to lie and perjure yourself according to President Bush (if you are doing so to help the house of Bush). You are even rewarded for it. What is happening to this country? The President doesn't answer to any of us, especially not the American people. We better flood the Internet with our condemnation. We should take out ads in the newspapers. This guy is bad news for the nation and the world. Bush is disassembling our democracy step by step. Next, Karl Rove will be getting the Medal of Honor. Where will it end? If it ends in an attack on Iran, it will be our end. The Senators should cancel their vacation and return home. Letting the executive branch run the country without control may be disastrous. Can't the recess be cancelled? What happens to checks and balances in August? WE NEED OUR VOICES HEARD!!!
BUSH INFLATED WITH POWER THAT HE WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE ENDOWED
The very fact that Pres Bush appointed Bolton behind the Senate's back while they were in recess should be one of the final red flags that this Pres belives he answers to no one. Despite what Bush says Bolton does not have the backing of the Senate as no up or down vote was ever had to prove this claim.
History is riddled with leaders that were in elected offices only to eventually have themselves proclaimed Emperors or Kings for life through distrorted legal manoeuvres...
This Pres has deliberatly given false information to Congress to advance an agenda he decided on without any good reasons. Iraq.. Now he appoints a man who has also deliberatly lied to the Senate about being questioned on Niger. How can any world ambassador even think of 1: Trusting a man that lies to his own country. 2. Does not have the backing of his own elected assembly. or 3.Has a proven reputation for attempting to simply remove anyone who does not agree with his point of view. This is all further proof that the present goovt is abusing it's power to advance it's own agenda's at not just the US's detriment but the world's .....
Has anybody heard when
Has anybody heard when Bolton is suppose to leave the UN? I thought it was the beginning of this year that Congress was suppose to look for a REAL UN representative. Please don't tell me it has to be the "new" Congress after the 2006 vote.
