One of the scariest most recent pieces of evidence is that I have heard many conservative talk radio hosts and people of Fox News (of course) talk about putting people like Michael Moore away so the President can do his job and talk about how the New York Times doesn't serve the best interest of our country. I see it every day in the news. Getting rid of political opposition and dissent is a huge sign of fascism. Keep an eye out every day. You'll see it if you don't already.

Fascism doesn't happen over night
Hitler didn't come into power over night. And he didn't kill 6 million Jews by himself. What they do is get some people that agree with certain aspects of the fascist regime, and then start demonizing everyone that disagrees.
Just like the psychopathic ultra conservative radio hosts do. I listened to Mike Savage (I only do it because I have to know my opposition) tell his audience the other day that homosexuals ought to be thrown in jail because they are "rats that crawled out of the sewer." And Hannity, oh Hannity, I just want to rip out his vocal chords so he can't spew his lies out into the universe anymore. He has a special aversion to Michael Moore. You should hear these people with no independent thoughts call him. What's worse, I hear a lot of YOUNG women calling up to say how much they love him and agree with him. Just before the election a 14 year old girl called him and said "Look what GWB has done for this country (no idea what she was talking about), and in 4 years Kerry could tear it all apart". After I puked, I thought. "Who brainwashed her?" Kerry has spent his entire life serving this country.

Go to any search engine and read about the "Bohemian Club". The members worship false idols and perform strange rituals in red robes. Does that sound close to God to you? Anthony Scalia is member, the president of Diebold is a member, the president of ES&S is a member and so are many of the party you follow. Every Democrat should be proud they didn't vote for the Bohemian Club, even if they aren't aware of the evil group. The Bohemian club has been around for along time and I bet you never heard of it. Thanks to your religious right who never mention it to their followers. Do you think God knows about the Bohemian Club? Only an evil group could ignore the warnings of 911 and then fight the 911 commission to keep the truth from their families and other Americans. Do you know that 28 pages are still missing? You probably still believe Iraq attacked us in NY and they had WMD's. I know this, that 15 out of 19 attackers were from bush's friend's country. I know that OBL was on the CIA payroll for many years. I know the UCMJ says anyone AWOL for more than 30 days is a deserter. I know from being in Vietnam and watching people die for a lie. That anyone that speaks out against war and killing inncoent people is not a traitor to his country. I know that it takes more courage to volunteer for combat than volunteering to drink in AL. Most repugs I ask haven't been in the military because they found deferments were easier than going to war. Watch F911 and see how many in congress or the white house have sent their kids to war. I suppose it is "moral" to worship false idols and then claim you are close to God to get your vote. I'm a Democrat that voted against the Bohemian Club and I thank God for showing me the Bohemian Club back in 1982.

From what you say above it sounds like Mike Savage and Michael Moore might be birds of a feather - just on opposite sides of the fence. It also doesn't sound like he represents the majority of conservatives any more than that buffoon Michael Moore represents the majority of Dems who want to get people ELECTED.
Calling Bush a fascist doesn't entice anyone to move towards any position you might be trying to advocate. It just drives them a way.

I noticed watching CNN that when Bush was campaigning for President he didn't allow anyone to protest when he spoke, he had them taken away, a 6 year old was tasered in his principals office by a police officer because he was trying to cut himself with the principals mirror, wanting to commit suicide (www.villagevoice.com.) Now this officer should be terminated and never be allowed to be in law enforcement again, not to mention brought up on charges for unnecessary use of force. These taser's are being abused througout the country because they can be used for anything.
Back to my point on Fascism, Dubya won't allow dissent, he has no record to run on, and if someone questions him he can't answer for himself, everything he says has to be scripted. Republicans don't want protest it makes them look bad, it makes them look disliked, it corrupts their image, and they will stop at nothing to have total control to of this country, when are we going to see martial law.

I think we all agree that the individuals involved in that ought not to be in a position to make that kind of decision again in their lifetimes. If you think that the officer had a valid excuse to Taser the child you are as crazy as him. There is absolutly no reason to Taser a child unless he is threatening you with a loaded gun. This officer needs to be charged with unnecessary use of force, and never allowed to practice law enforcement again, not to mention, loose his right to carry a fire arm because of his abuse.

Don't you think rather then continuing to turn more & more people off & keeping you minds closed to the outside world that you would be better served to practice what you preach & be INclusive?

You assume that we NEED to talk with the close-minded religious right. We missed the mark by a measly 4 million votes, or about the size of a couple of medium-sized cities. Your side did not win by a landslide, and do not have a mandate.
We did not "turn more & more people off," we simply did not have a strong enough candidate to counter the lies and hate-mongoring of the your party. This country is divided almost evenly, and that's okay with us. You keep your half, and we will continue to fight for equality for ALL Americans, and the protection of the Constitution.

All I'm saying is, & I'm not sure if there's any point responding to anyone who saves time making there minds up without even opening them, I think concern for the rightward tilt of the last 30 years should be something we have in common. Perhaps I am mistaken.
As far as missing by only a "measley 4 million votes": That also translated into an INCREASED, not static, margin for the rightward tilt. That increasing tilt included losses of even more lost seats in the Senate (was it 5 seats?), the House (something like 9 seats) and the continued loss at the grass roots level of state governorships & legislatures.
Attitudes like the one you've exhibited, if not responsible for, likely contributes to this continuing slide. Feel free to skip my posts if they trouble you. I've enjoyed exchanging thoughts, maybe you don't have any, with a number of intelligent OPENminded people in these forums. Quite a few have opened my eyes, too, for which I am appreciative.

And I'm afraid that you're right. Because of Dubya's "you're either with me, or you're against me" attitude, it doesn't leave much room for debate. The Repubs that infiltrate this private site tell us that we need to "respect and follow" Dubya because the American people have spoken. Well, actually slightly over half of the *voting* American people have spoken. The last time I read the Constitution, the elected president of the USA, is elected to represent ALL of the American people, and not just those who voted for him and his backers.
The Progressive half of our country has been goaded into their present state of anger and despair by the Rove/Dubya cabal on purpose for the purpose of consolidating political "capital." We Democrats care deeply about our country, and deplore the misuse of the highest office in our nation, and the carelessness use of our military against nebulous enemies. We are just as eager to defend our country as any Republican, but we do not agree with Dubya's definition of the need for a war on the Iraqi people. We have accomplished the goal of toppling Saddam, and now we are only fighting insurgents at great cost to our nation and it's sons and daughters. Vietnam daja vu all over again.
Middle ground? Not until Dubya and his cabal are willing to rerpresent the true middle of America, and stop their attempts to subvert our Constitution.
