Judge O'Conner won't be leaving her post until 'replacement has been 'confirmed' and approved by Congress. --This means --Bush can 'nominate' --but Judge O'Conner will have her powers until the replacement takes the position effectively.
I predict this 'nomination' will have to be carefully thought out by Bush; since Rehnquist, hasn't made any waves of leaving yet. --Can't appoint Chief before an Associate Justice.

The republican talkers are out in force talking about little else than the Supreme Court this morning. I was listening to one of them harping on the president's right to advise and the job of the congress to concent and thinking how that tune will change when there is again a democrat president. Then it will be ( out of the same mouths) the right of congress to have their say about the president's appointees.
The hypocracy of the RW doesn't seem to bother anyone. The right thinks that they should have their way, ok, but why doesn't the left mention the way the tune keeps changing? They talk about enforcing the law not writing law, then openly say that they want a candidate that will over turn Roe v. Wade. Why aren't our spoksmen pointing out the problem with that?
Ok that does it. You have totally destroyed my black mood. I hope you are proud of yourself? Now I expect that I will have to be in good humor all the rest of the damn day, thanks.

CNN Relaible Sources actually did about 5 mins. on Novak and why he wasn't being treated like the other reporters, but then the let down came when they didn't discuss any of the questions that we have. Talk about a waste of time.

Sandra Day O'Conner resigns from her position on the Supreme Court.
This is a sorry day, as she was the swing vote on critical issues.
There is much anxiety as to who Bush will appoint to replace her.
Sorry this is so brief. I've got to run, but will check back in a bit.
I wanted to post this before the day was through.
Very sad day indeed

They are talking about SCOTUS...
Their alternative topic of conversation would have to be Rove...and they are undoubtedly on orders not to go there under any circumstances.
A brief comment about stains:

Where in California?
Santa Cruz is really beautiful.
I haven't spent much time in Pleasanton. I've never been to Angels Camp.
Welcome, I hope you had a good time here.
It certainly is a good reason.
Especially when you're an English teacher.
I'd like to go there and see where he lived and worked.
