This is what's going to happen: There will be a moderate swing back in bush's favor. And then after severl hundred more people die, it will swing back against bush.
I heard the results of one poll on ABC 7 news last night.
The numbers were down, after the speech!
i.e. the favorable vote was down. A full 62% said they
were dissatisfied with the job GW is doing.
That's a switch-the numbers down after the speech.
Whoaa- the people are getting pissed.
I'm sorry I couldn't link it, I can't find it, anywhere!!
Please excuse the unlinked comment. I'm still searching for it!
Sorry,sorry, sorry.
"murder in the name of a totalitarian ideology that hates freedom, rejects tolerance, and despises all dissent. Their aim is to remake the Middle East in their own grim image of tyranny and oppression -- by toppling governments, by driving us out of the region, and by exporting terror"
This is a direct quote from Bush's speech. Funny, it sounds like he's talking about his administration.

I am sick of this his rhetoric saying that we the people who oppose his playtime that we are showing traitorous weakness. this guy has no clue what so ever what a traitor is, maybe he should look in the mirror and realize that he is becoming the person that we took down.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An unidentified aircraft violated restricted airspace over Washington on Wednesday evening, prompting orders to evacuate the U.S. Capitol and surrounding office buildings, U.S. officials said.

According to Gallup, the most reliable poll service, 74% of respondents had a very or somewhat positive response to Bush's speech. The good news is this is the worst response to a Bush speech so far. HOW CAN 3/4 OF THE COUNTRY NOT SEE THROUGH HIS LIES?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Kwalf can provide a link that shows otherwise, please do.
If I can find it- ( Why wouldn't they link it to their website-this is our local ABC news office?)
I will certainly post it! I know I am incurring the wrath of the blog gods by not having one.
It's a simple matter, really. While I do not necessarily believe that 3/4 of the population is
dumb enough to believe Bush's lies, certainly that many are desperate to find a reason to justify
their support of a war that everyone knows is illegal and unjustified. Perhaps they grasp at
anything to avoid the truth of their own folly and their own responsibility.

I heard that the people polled in that speech were mostly Republican anyway, and that it was the speech polled directly after the speech, and of people that watched it which were mostly republican anyway, so in my opinion that number of 74% is insignificant to me..and I rad on the gallup site that it was a minority 323 isn't much to me.
that the honeymoon will be over soon. Remember the aftermath of the Iraqi 'selections'? Polls shot right up after a period of decline. These speaches are like caffine to the polls: They prop you up when you are sagging, and then you burn out even harder once the effects wear off.
Federal Court Orders Government to Turn Over Videos and Photos Showing Detainee Abuse
June 2, 2005
NEW YORK -- A federal judge has ordered the Defense Department to turn over dozens of photographs and four movies depicting detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq as part of an ongoing lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union.
[...snip...]
The court order came in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the ACLU, the New York Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Constitutional Rights to obtain documents and materials pertaining to the treatment of detainees held by American forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantánamo Bay.
[...snip...]
The court order filed late yesterday requires the government by June 30 to reprocess and redact 144 detainee abuse photographs provided by Sergeant Joseph Darby to the Army’s Criminal Investigation Command. The order also requires the government to provide the court with an estimate of the length of time it will take to reprocess and redact four movies included as part of the Darby collection by June 10. The decision comes after the court privately viewed eight of the images from the Darby collection to determine whether the photographs should be released under the FOIA. The ACLU expects redacted versions of the photographs to be released within the next six weeks.
The fact that we didn't hear anything yesterday means that they were probably granted an extension.
This seems to be a pretty good consensus of the polling- at least I believe it- from the Boston Globe.
"A CNN/Gallup/USA Today poll of 323 people who watched the speech showed that after the speech 54 percent of those polled said the United States is winning the war on terror; 63 percent said Bush has a clear plan for Iraq; and 70 percent said we should keep troops in Iraq. This poll is considered to be skewed more to Bush supporters."
Look, I am admit I am not as dialed in to a lot of this as some of you folks- but my read is that these numbers don't indicate the speech caused any dramatic shift in public opinion on the merits of the war. However, they do suggest that Bush was able to shore up support in his own caucus- which had been drifting- and clearly bought himself more time. If 70% of Americans say troops should be there- if simply so the US doesn't fail- then there is no immediate prospect of a substantial withdraw.
Like I said....it's human nature to grasp at straws rather than admit
to such folly. A simple matter, sure, the "polls" indicate support. A
vast majority of Americans are quite naieve and easily frightened by
GW's fear mongering speeches about 9/11 and terrorists. Perhaps we should
find a way to reach out to people who "just can't believe it"....that
their government is guilty of an illegal war. It may well be that such
acknowledgement is just too much.
What groups were polled? Were these the same people who are afraid of the biplanes heading near the White House? Maybe it was from a group of people who live near one of the Bush's major corporate supporters who dump mercury in the drinking water or a group of people living in close contact with their family pets who are cherished but were fed cow meat from cows who aren't able to stand and are from some place in Texas.( I know that there is not supposed to be any transmisssion to house pets and then from house pets to their owners but all of the information on prion disease is still not known). Anyone with any sense can see that Bush has no idea what he's talking about, what he's doing, or where he is leading us? We will be wandering in the wildnerness until someone takes over the lead. Please send help! We really are important to the people who love us and rely on us even if President Bush thinks that were are expendable commodities.

These polls were asked of those who watched the speech. I'll bet that less than 10% of the population actually watched the speech. So in fact the poll numbers are useless and Gallup is notoriously slanted anyway.

Lately, i have had 2 dreams about dubya(actually they were nightmares).
In the first one, Bush was trying to teach me how to fire machine gun, and he ended up threatening me with it.
In the second dream, for some reason, I was trying to convince Dubya to be my best friend.
I must have eaten something nasty! LOL

Declining polls - increase terror threat
Once again it appears that the administration is manipulation terror levels because it wants to destract the declining public opinion polls.

Something like 50% republicans, 25% democrats, and 25% independents.
