ARE NAMES ARE LISTED ON GOOGLE FROM THIS SITE
Hi I am a user on this site. I received a user ID through your "secure" method. I think I commented on it once and now on the Google search when I put in my name on the search my full name, city, state come up associated with a comment I made and the fact that I am a Democrat is listed. In addition other peoples names their cities and states they live in. That should not happen not I question whether this is a sincere site or just a phony site to gather names of Democrats under this corrupt government we live in now. Please assist and get those names off of the Google search including the cached section

Thanks for raising the
Thanks for raising the issue! I have had similar concerns, not so much
about the intentions dem.com, but about who can access and collect
data and information from the site. I do not understand these matters
real well, somebody else would have to put my concerns to rest
Click on MY SETTINGS in the
Click on MY SETTINGS in the upper right hand corner of your screen.
Then click on EDIT.
Then click on PERSONAL INFORMATION.
Then get rid of you real name if you wish. Use your initials perhaps.
Only put there what you wish to be seen online.
This will not clear what Google already knows however. What is done
is done.
Berry40, I can assure you
Berry40, I can assure you that there are no rightwing sinister motives here. When you signed on, you entered your name, email address, home address, website, and party affiliation on the signup page. The only fields that are visible to anyone (other than site admins) is your name and city, which is why it was available to any internet search "bots" that located you account. If you feel uncomfortable entering your city, or any other information for that matter, do not enter it. As long as you play nicely here, we don't care who, where, or what you are.
Berry40, I typed in my blog
name and Google only came up with 5 posts I have made in 7 months, here.
I have made many, many more.
Only your name, city, state, party affliation and weeks as a member are visible
on the profile, here.
This site is very progressive Democrat. There is no gathering of information on this end.
Is your name, addresss, and
Is your name, addresss, and telephone number in your local telephone book? Does your state DMV have all of this information, plus your picture? Your personal information is available in many places on the web.
You can do a Google search on just about anyone, including those who post on Free Republic. If you don't have the conviction of your statements on Democrats.com, then you shouldn't post here, or anywhere else. If you are not ashamed of being a Democrat or of showing your support, then it shouldn't matter if your name shows up on Goggle.
I wish that every post on here was distributed web-wide...
Actually no my information
Actually no my information has never been out there before. I am not ashamed of being a Democrat, but in the type of work I do I know that sinister people can do a lot with your real name, city, and state. Listen I believe this is a good site, but there is a statement claiming that this information you give will not be released and now it is out there. Not much information, but too much for my taste. In fact Mr. Harding I can prove this to you... that with just a little information I can find out a lot about you.
If that is some sort of an
If that is some sort of an implied threat, you have chosen the wrong adversary. In MY line of work, I deal with people who make threats. And if I were so inclined I could find out the size of your underwear, but believe me I am not that interested in you, or your paranoia.
When you place information about yourself on the Internet, search spiders glean all of that information. Every member on this blog can see the same information that the Google search turned up, just by going to your profile. Now quit having a hissy fit about your name being on Google, and get over yourself. If the "evil powers" are searching for you, then look out for the men in black...
Consider reading my post
Consider reading my post above and be done with your worries.
Anyone on democrats.com can go to anyone's profile and look at what you wrote. If you do not want to share that much, then once again, just look at my above post and do what you feel is right.
I'm not sure what statement you are referring to but if you go to
your profile as instructed there is a statement mentioning what will
be held private.
Thanks.
Jim, in 33 weeks of
Jim, in 33 weeks of membership, this is the only time berry40 has posted. He obviously has not read the the information on the sign-up form, or he would have known what information is public, and what is private. He did, however, take your advice and revise his profile.
I guess all is well that
I guess all is well that ends well.
Bill, I am impressed and am
Bill, I am impressed and am awestruck in the way that you are "out there", but I totally sympathize with him. Although I am proud to be a liberal, my boss would not be so supportive. He is a Bush contributor and a total neocon Kool-Aid junkie, and given the political climate today, I am wary. My pride is not worth being unemployed, especially in the employment depressed area that I live, so I have opted for the less conspicuous solution as well.
There was a time many months ago that I typed the word Democrat and my city name into Google, and my name came up as the first hit. That was instant that I decided to be more discreet.
My advice to anyone would be not to enter anything on a web page that you would not want displayed on the stadium Jumbo-Tron.
Apples and oranges. I
Apples and oranges. I totally understand someone wanting to be anonymous for many different reasons. I do not understand however, someone who complains that it is somehow the fault of Democrats.com that the information he entered here ended up on a Google search.
As I've been told many times by help-desk people -- RTFM.
Pomegranates and Pineapples
That is true, and for that matter I don't know of any website that has a disclaimer about web search engines finding the form entry information.
Maybe the real explanation is that if we wanted to stop search engines from finding user comments, we could easily do it, but then that would be defeating one of the goals of our discourse, that is to get our message out.
BTW, I was surprised to see the lack of hits from Democrats.com on Google. Vaguely I remember many more of them. One that did show up says that you wear size 38 boxers, mostly cotton, with teddy bears on them.
The size is right, but
The size is right, but they're silk briefs with red hearts...
Bill, I'm also very impressed.
But,
Oh boy, I'm in big trouble!
I should have known, a
I should have known, a ladykiller like you. Guess you can't believe everything on the Internets.
There you go again. Now it's
There you go again. Now it's going to be all over the Internets that I have killed ladies. I solemly swear on the RR Bible that I have never actually killed one. I have, however, made a few want to kill me...

How do you like me now?
I bothered Bill on his post "Hello?" earlier to test to see how much of my personal info was given. Then I found this post - how topical! In this Facists regime on the rise, it is best to "lay low". I can't tell how much on my personal info is viewable now because it takes me aback to my personal log-in where I see everything - I hope that I am now anonymous.
Registered Republican (I would be lying if I put "Democrat" in my party affiliation because of my actual registration!)
I am really A Democrat voting for Republican Crackpots (e.g. David Duke) in their Primaries
Take it easy Big Bro

I'm now drained.
When you sign up the form tells you what is private information. The rest is public so if you do not want it known just follow my advice. No big woop. GM has explained even more.
