AIR AMERICA RADIO INVESTIGATED AFTER BUSH 'GUNSHOTS'

**Exclusive**

The red-hot rhetoric over Social Security on liberal talkradio network AIR AMERICA has caught the attention of the Secret Service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Government officials are reviewing a skit which aired on the network Monday evening -- a skit featuring an apparent gunshot warning to the president!

The announcer: "A spoiled child is telling us our Social Security isn't safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us. Well, here's your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [audio sound of 4 gunshots being fired.] Just try it, you little bastard. [audio of gun being cocked]."

The audio production at the center of the controversy aired during opening minutes of The Randi Rhodes Show.

"What is with all the killing?" Rhodes said, laughing, after the clip aired.

"Even joking about shooting the president is a crime, let alone doing it on national radio... we are taking this very seriously," a government source explained.

An Air America official tells Billboard Radio Monitor that they have no comment and are conducting their own internal investigation.

Sounds like good PR for AA!!!

Sounds like good PR for AA!!! More listeners!!!

Remember the SNL Schtick?

I believe that when GWB was just a candidate, Will Farrell did a schtick where he played GWB in a fishing boat with George Sr., talking about running for pres... and in it, George Sr. contemplates using his rifle, musing on whether his son could possibly be that bad for America. George was just a governor then...I guess any jokes containing violence about the president are bad form .... sort of like just saying the word "bomb" on a plane.

On another note... Please read this article by Ed Naha... it is hilarious but for the fact that it is about the true state of affairs.

If they make a big deal out of it, the'll have to play it, nationally. This is actually good pub for Randi.

BTW, that was a great skit. It was Dana Carvey playing Sr., and they were hunting.

You go girl

We have your back..............

My 2 cents

Nobody wants to say it, nobody wants the FBI on their porch, but if you have a radical right wing president who states he has a "Mandate" after "winning" a very close election (and after stealing the previous election rather than allowing a recount) then you are going to have a few people questioning his worthiness not only to lead but to live. Sorry, but it was very honest and bold of those responsible for the skit.

Very true

Agreed! That's why I said a "mandate" after "winning" a very close election. The "winning" is for the Diabold influence, and Republican scare tactics.

Where was the FBI & Secret Service when Ann Coulter said Clinton should be assasinated? "Do as I say, not as I do" mentality

Last night

was one of those nights when I couldn't sleep, so I was surfing through the channels on TV and found Scarborough doing a story on AA. First of all he kept showing pics of Franken as if he was responsible for everything that goes out over the AA air waves. Secondly he could not have been more biased in his remarks or his tone.

If you can find the transcript from last night's show read that part, but don't do it just before bed, if you want to sleep. He could not have been happier to find fault with AA and distorted the episode to make Randi and Franken, by some connection that existed only in Scarboy's mind, out to be ridiculous radicals and dangerous to the president.

I found the whole thing to be so extreme in it's exaggeration of the facts as to be laughable on it's face. Knowing that there are a few thousand people who actually believe that he was delivering the news takes the humor out of it, pretty fast, though.

I want to fight back. I hate the feeling of frustration that comes with watching passively as the news turns into a ratings game of entertainment and RW political propaganda.

I have a cartoon that shows 2 vultures sitting on a fence talking. One says to the other " patience my ass, I want to kill something" that is how I often feel watching what passes for news on TV.

This was the poll today on FO

This was the poll today on FOX news TV web site. Late morning 78% were saying that we should get tough with AA. Now the numbers are reversed hehehehe I love it and Fox must be weeping about now.

BTW of all people G. Gordon Litty was the expert last night against Randi. Does anyone remember that he was developing a plot to kill a major newsman for Nixon, before he went to jail? Litty insisted that he didn't know anything about rw hate radio last night.

Question of the Day

Are you satisfied with Air America's apology?

a. Yes, it's enough. (70%)

b. No, we need to get tough. (29%)

Investigate real crimes

I heard that there is going to be a crime scene show episode about a dead female intern found in a politician's office. The " death" occurred while the politician was away. Does anyone know any real case like this? I guess that the life of someone like this "fictitious" girl is not as important as a skit on Air America. I can see her ghost now at the end of the show as she regards the perpetrators a la cold case. Dangerous things happen to people who have been associated to Republicans and their lobbyists. How interesting!
