Jeb Bush , Kidnapper ??
With all other options exhausted it looks like the Christian Right via Jeb Bush is just going to walk in and kidnap Terry Shiavo snubbing their morally correct noses at all that is America .
We have sat by and passively watched the Executive and the Legislative branches of our goverment run rough shod over the Judiciary , While the courts have upheld all that is humane the zealots will hear none of it , they are right and to hell with everyone that doesn't see the world through their rose colored glasses , If you live anywhere near Pinellais Park I implore you to go guard this godly child from these Right wing nut cases , We have to take a stand , write all the media outlets and express your and our collective outrage , Demand the immediate resignation of Jeb Bush , Tom Delay and of course the demi-god himself GW Bush . If they do this deed and get away with it our lives as private citizens is over , We might as well get in line and drink the Kool-aid , The time has come we have got to make a stand now !!!!

Bevis and Butt Head Jeb and Georgey
Bevis and Butt head the Bush brothers need to butt out of the Shiavo affair. It is stricctly a family matter. If Jebby kidnaps her he should face federal kidnapping charges. Remeber and never forget that "W" stands for WEASEL
ABC news just showed those Christians
One of the Christian leaders said that there was "going to be hell to pay" if the people they put in government doesn't "take control" of this event. WOW! Again the Far Our Right thinks they are above the law. I know that George doesn't care for the Constitution but have I missed us deciding that we don't need laws. Ummmm, maybe I should go buy myself that 50 caliber weapon for protection!
War does not determine who is right, war determine who is left.
The politicians and the parents
should be charged with exploitation. While there is room for dispute as to whether the woman had expressed a desire to be spared an existance suspended in a prolonged state of helplessness, absent a promising prognosis. I, personally, as a parent, can't imagine wanting any of my children to exist in such a devoid life.
It seems to me her parents need competant counseling services, and perhaps it is time they come to terms with the disease that ultimately robbed Terry of her life then perhaps they can begin a healthy grieving process. But doesn't Terry deserve to be treated with dignity, instead of being paraded before the world when she is at her very worst and in no position to object to the presence of cameras in her sickroom? She's being treated like a stage prop by people seeking an audience. What's next for Terry? The circus?
I have long since come to believe that people never mean half of what they say, and that it is best to disregard their talk and judge only their actions. Dorothy Day
Thank you CitizenJane,
I cannot even imagine what Terri's parents are going
through. But with all their calls for help, they are bringing
more and more media attention and political exploitation
upon their daughter. Terri is in her final days, right now.
I hope people will respect that.
Ferret face JEB

I just hope that she goes quickly and peacefully, and that
these right wingers really think about their actions,
They can vote to send our brave young soldiers to die in Iraq
for a Bush mistake, but they say they care for 1person in
Florida who cant take care of herself and wants to go
peacefully?
heard the darn-est thing today
My Republican friend and I were battling out the Shiavo thing today and I got an education from the Right. Somebody is "divorced from reality" but it ain't the side I'm on. The right is saying that Michael Shiavo wants his wife dead so that she never recovers and tells the world that Michael was trying to kill her. My friend says that Michael Shiavo tried to strangle Terri and he wants to get rid of her. WOW! One minute he is trying to kill her and get rid of her, the next he is getting medical treatments for her. The right has counter this also. Those treatments were experimental and the electrodes they inserted into her became infected and he would not let them treat her with antibotics and that is what is some of Terri's problems. WOW again! Tried to kill her, gets expensive treatment for her but remembering he wants her dead he decides to not let her be treated for an infection. Yeah, right. I ain't buying what the right is selling. And why in the hell are they the RIGHT? We are more "RIGHT!" (or correct)
War does not determine who is right, war determine who is left.
Since we're talking about this -- my 2 cents worth
I strongly believe that this is strictly and family issue. I believe that had all this time, money and energy been spent to mediate between Terry's parents and her husband this would have turned out in a much more positive and private way.
Having said that, how can the Religious Right or the Bush brothers EVER spout off about the SANCTITY of MARRIAGE AGAIN???
Here's another $0.018 (shrinking dollar)
This just ties a pretty little bow around the neocon philosophy that the ends always justifies the means.
They don't care who they hurt for the cause of political gain. They are teaching their kids contempt for the law by allowing them to get arrested. They don't care that they would violate their "holy institution" of marriage in coercing a divorce. And they sure as hell don't care that they are dragging this woman, her husband and family through the media wringer.
But of all of these, the one that really pisses me off is how they have demonized her husband. This man lost his wife, and every day that this drags on, he re-lives it. Personally, if my wife had told me that she did not want to live on life support, I would do anything necessary to fulfill that request. That would be the last act I love I could give her.
I second that
Amen on that, KarlaBro. I'd have to think that 99% of us who have actually had to deal with the angst, pain, and sadness of making an end of life decision for a family member are sickened and saddened by these events. Fortunately, my family, with the help of clergy and an ethics committee, came together and worked together to make a decision. This family has not.
You are correct--he is the husband and the bottom line is that over 30 impartial judges (including Greer, a SOUTHERN BAPTIST) have agreed that he is telling the truth in that his wife did want to be kept alive this way. For years, he tried every therapy and solution available and it did not improve her condition. After exhausting all the avenues of modern medicine and rehabilitation, he then decided it was time to abide by her wishes. He's been fighting to honor those wishes ever since, as far as I can see.
The shootout at the OK Corral was averted, thank god. I'll say it again: Am I living in some alternate universe? This is sick. What's next? Who needs a vigilanty militia when you can use state employees?
This reminds me the Elian Gonzales case, where the nutcases fought against the father's wishes. Pro-marriage, pro-family, alright, only when it fits their rigid, narrow viewpoint...or worse, their political agenda.
Jeb Bush the Catholic--don't think we're all like that. Absolutely not.
Frankly it's frightening
These people are willing to believe that more then nineteen judges were duped by Michael Schiavo so that he could get away with some sort of legalized version of murder. It's amazing the lengths they'll go to deceive themselves just to justify their beliefs.
If they really wanted what was best they would investigate the issues and learn for themselves but oh no, we can't have that. At least Jeb has shown SOME restraint in not sending the National Guard down to cease her, though I may be speaking too soon on this one.
It's not a partisan issue, it's a wingnut issue
Now they are painting them as "activist" judges. Here was a great summary on Kos
Simple. They blame the Libera
Simple. They blame the Liberals. What don't you understand?
Authorities said Richard Alan
Judge Greer is a conservative, not a liberal in anyones book. For doing the right thing Judge Greer was asked to leave his church, that's right they threw him out. He can no longer attend services there. Why because of his ruling not allow the parents to replace the feeding tube.
If there are any real Christians left out there I hope that they will take a serious look at what the wackos are doing to their religion.

These people are freaking NUTS!
I sincerely hope that this backfires on them. The president, Gov. Bush, Tom DeLay, Bill Frist, the rest of their cronies, and the media, are all culpable if anything tragic happens to anyone involved in this, and I do not mean to Terri Schiavo.
On the funnier side
I finally got a laugh out of the Schiavo mess this morning, when I read this.

I heard a great skit the other day on AAR
Two parents were arguing over when their daughter could begin dating. The Father said she was too young, the mother pointed out that she was the same age as they were when they dated, yadda yadda...finally there's a knock at the door. It's Tom Delay and the Congress, there to insure the RIGHT decision is made for the girl. Tom Points out that the parent's decision matters, but the Congress's decision is unquestionable (paraphrase).
The Dad ends to the effect "I'm usually against unnecessary government intrusion in my personal life, but if it helps me win an argument then I'm all for it!".
That is...in the long and the short of it...all that we're really facing here. It doesn't have anything to do with dueling political beliefs. It has to do with hypocritical sophistry. They want to win on any issue they want to win on. To hell with reasons, laws, or logic. Teri Shivo will be forgotten within a week of her passing (mark those words) but another issue will recieve the exact same treatment next month...and the month after, and the month after.
LIBERAL: If the word bothers you, then you don't know what it means.
