2nd Anniversary of War spurs worldwide demonstrations

NEW YORK - Anti-war activists marched in the streets of American cities
big and small Saturday, stopping traffic and lying down alongside
flag-draped cardboard coffins to mark the second anniversary of the
start of the war in Iraq.
Massive Protests worldwide. I was part of a few thousand in a peaceful demonstration in Milwaukee, WI. The article goes on to say, how people that supported the war are starting to "wake up" and switch there was of thinking. In London, 45,000 protestors gathered in Hyde Park. More protests took place in Sweden & Japan.
From cities all across the country, troops that were sent home for injuries, have been left with major medical bills and are ending up on the streets. I met some of those troops in Milwaukee today at a soup kitchen. They said they were treated, given the bill, and shown the door very quickly. And now they have ended up sleeping at shelters and relying on handouts for food.
I have a cousin, that just went back to Iraq for the 2nd time. He was saying how, gruesome it is over there. No basic infrastruture, dirty water, most electricity is out, hospitals are in shambles. And of course the constent threat of more car bombs going off. The news doesn't even cover the real details of the war; what the conditions are really like on the ground. Bush has the major media corporations in his back pocket and the general american public doesn't really know how bad it really is over there.
This war monger has got to be stopped. I'm afraid he's going to run this country down into a blackhole if he continues to get his way.

I went to our protest in Chicago. The group sponsoring the event was in a legal battle with the city over a permit to march down Michigan Ave. That permit was denied because Mayor Daily said it would put too much of a strain on the city's police force. Some decided to march down Michigan anyways and were arrested. A 1000 others rallied at Federal Plaza. The police force was tremendous. There had to be a 1:1 ratio at the event. It was never about the "strain on the police force" it was all about Mayor Daily not agreeing with our message. We have the right to voice our opinions. Not that many people can hear them when we are tucked away in a small street out of the way. Here are a few pictures of the police presence at the event. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/gettysburgii/album?.dir=/501e&.src=ph

It sounds like less police would have been required had Daily allowed the march.
I think the Iraqi vets are going to relate well to the Vietnam vets.
