Protests in Lebenon = Democracy - Protests Across the World = Focus Group...

On February 18 2003, GW Bush infamously said that considering the "Size of [anti war] protest[s] — it's like deciding, well, I'm going to decide policy based upon a focus group."

Today, Bush patted himself on the back for his invasion of Iraq and took credit for 'inspiring democratic reformers from Beirut to Tehran[.]'  As proof, he cited the 'hundreds of thousands of Lebanese [...] rising up to demand their sovereignty and democratic rights[.]' amongst other 'achievements' as an example.

As many of you know, (and have posted) today is the second anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.  Hundreds of thousands of protesters across the nation and globe are gathering once again to demand an end to war and racism to be replaced with a redirection of war funds for human needs.

The following question begs to be asked:  Why are the voices of hundreds of thousands of people in Lebanon more effective in swaying Bush's disastrous foreign policies than are the hundreds of thousands of voices from multiple nations across the entire globe? Why is it that the protesting Lebanese are seen as 'demanding sovereignty' while protesting Americans and Europeans are seen as 'a focus group'?

Perhaps this picture can provide us an answer...

NO AMERICAN OLIGARCHY!!!

Yes, and I wonder why when th

Yes, and I wonder why when the exit polls in the Ukraine were so off, they cried fraud, but ours were just wrong. What a bunch of hypocrits! EVERYTHING they do and say is the antithesis of moral values.

I just got home from my local anti-war rally and march. We had a terrific turn-out, with people from all walks of life, including WWII vets. I took my kids (8 & 12). I am so sick of those that say we are un-American and hate our troops for protesting the war. We just need to put an end to this madness.

It is madness.

Democracy is alright anywhere, as long as it's not in the U.S.!!! I'm just curious, why aren't our representatives coming out against the war? They all support it? No calls for exit strategies, no hearings or commissions on torture or accountability for lying to the global public about going to war over WMD!! It is madness. Why aren't they attending todays anti-war rallies to show solidarity with their base?

I mean, how can we honestly talk about threats to social security when the war in Iraq gets worse with every passing day. It almost seems like some kind of grand PR diversion to shift focus from the deepening quagmire in Iraq and evidence of war crimes from the conflict, to a false debate about an uncertain future of social security benefits.

You know what, it's working if it's true. Wag the dog baby!

Where's CNN??

So where are the 'national news' coverage for the global protests; seems to me that most Americans love to complain --but aren't the 'messenger' when it comes to protest.

There always seems to be a 'hand-full' of 'beatnik type 'protestors at every event --this is the reason 'the U.S. Govt doesn't take anything we say 'serious'.

If 50% of employees in every major corporation --took to the streets on Monday -March 21st --I'm sure someone would notice.

Actions speak louder than words!!!
