FEMA won't spend $8.5B Hurricane Relief-funds transfeered to General Fund
FEMA Dummies
Local officials who visited Washington Feb. 15 were stunned by two admissions made by Daniel Craig, director of Federal Emergency Management Agency's recovery division.
Craig told Florida's congressional delegation that FEMA would not spend the $8.5 billion that Congress allocated for hurricane aid to help Florida and other states cope with the aftermath of four hurricanes. Instead FEMA had chosen to place the monies in its general fund to meet other departmental needs.

no surprise
That's not a surprise, after Jeb and Dubya spent all that time in florida to get votes; the elections over so they don't have to worry about that anymore.
I'll bet
there are some voters who are wishing they could renig on their votes.
Of course, this news hasn't been announced on the local news. There was a photo-op of Jeb giving $100,000 to a small local group of Menonites for their "volunteer" work.
This is so typical
of this BA. The brothers hand out a few bottles of water for a photo op and we pay the bill to fly W. here for that photo op and while he is here he holds some meetings with "the boys" about party politics then we pay to fly him back to DC and he is the only one who profits. It is all just one plastic trukey after another.
We still have several thousand Florida citizens who can't live in their homes, because of storm damage and are still in temporary shelter. Without that FEMA money what will happen to them?

The 'faith-based' have no initiative
those "christian volunteers" came and stood in front of the cameras, then left. In this county of over 1,000 square miles, there is ONE man doing volunteer tree work. He is not affiliated with any church. The Baptist church in my community didn't even do their own tree work, this lone volunteer did.
There are people with trees still IN their house, which they are having to live in because there is no rental property available. Most of the temporary housing, in the form of a government owned travel trailers went to beach residents, and the few who remained in storm shelters weeks after the storm. A couple of weeks ago, I saw a very elderly couple trying to cut up a huge live oak that had fallen on their home, with a hand saw. They are so old, they could hardly walk.
But never fear, Jeb is on the campaign trail. I'm sure he will continue to show up with a smile and a camera as soon as he hears of opportunities to do so.
I cam buy the Brothers a chain saw
Since the Bushies did so well with handing out water and W is great with chopping shrubs down in Crawford, I could use my Sears charge to get them a chainsaw. What a bunch of baloney! Older citizens can't get help with their yards and people have no place to live. I had at least hoped that the money was being spent. I thought that part of the reason to have a government was to insure the welfare of the citizens. We mustn't rebuild here any better than in Iraq. The word needs to get out. People need to see how hypocrisy works. It's all about the planned photo shoots for the Republicans, the interest and the caring are faked. I am not surprised, but I am saddened. We need real pictures and testimonials to show people how dysfunctional this government is.

I think that you need to write that to the WH. If only they knew that was the only reason that we need government and that the people are starting to catch on to their lack of interest in or regard for the real people.
