What DID Happen to this site?
Maybe there's something I am doing wrong, but I can't comment on the Forum section even if I log in. Regarding the comment about the freepers - why are these people not kept off the site? I have always regarded this site a great place for progressive debate. I don't want to wade through the garbage of the Limbaugh freaks. And I miss the updates.

This is a great site for progressive debate
Hang on tight. We're in a period of transition. I'm not sure what you mean by updates...
If pure religion is the criterion to denominate candidates, those who make a noise about it must be rejected; for their wrangle about it, proves that they are void of it. ~John Leland, July 5, 1802.
Updates - uh, I mean mail.
Necco, the great scan of the alternative press every day. What a great thing that is. I can't spend a lot of time on the computer. The daily dem.com e-mail made my day. -S
I'm not sure about the newsletter
I haven't asked Bob if he plans to continue it. I'll ask him and get back to you about it. I do like the Buzzflash feature on the blog. Buzzflash is really good at keeping up with the news for us.

Something weird about login?
Okay, now I'll make your day crazy. I logged in on the old link you gave me for convenience, which took my old password etc. Soooo, now I have two logins, I guess. The OLD one allows me to answer on the forums, so who knows. Perhaps this is part of transition. I'll just hang in there...Thanks for info. -S
Both sites are operational
...at least for the time being.
As for the newsletter, word is that a revised format is being worked on but it hasn't been nailed down, yet.

DON`T WORRY DAVE LETTERMAN TAKES CARE OF THEM.
I like democrats.com
I like democrats.com It will take time to navigate as well I did earlier. Where is the list of members? I miss my friends.
We're still there...
but some of us are posting in both places, getting used to the blog layout. Look in the upper right hand side of this page for the .community link, Travel. I'm sorry, I've been so distracted lately that I'm not sure whether or not you got lost in the shuffle when the front page had to be changed.
Here's the link, just for convenience: http://community.democrats.com/login.cfm

A familiar face!
Necco! There you are - I saw Grinch on the forum, and I can't reply, no matter what I do. But yeah, I agree with the new person. The freepers have got to get back to their Hannity et al site. Or go slobber at the feet of the demented Ann Coulter, but just leave us in peace, as would be the christian and moral thing to do. :>) -S
A bit of clarification...
I'm not sure if you're having trouble replying (as you have stated) to a specific post or if you're having trouble starting a thread.
If you're having trouble replying to a specific post, there are two options after as you're viewing a post: One is to make a reply (there should be a link at the bottom of the post you're reading; the other option is to add a comment. If you choose that option, it does not show up as a reply to a specific post, but to the thread parent.
IE: To reply to your specific concern, I clicked the 'reply' link at the bottom of your post.
And yes, the disruptors on this blog will not last. It's just a matter of time, so they should consider that if they continue to disrupt instead of opting for thoughtful conversation/debate, that is not what we're here to do.

Hear hear madamerican!
Well put, Madam.! Couldna said it better myself.
They, like their putrid leade
They, like their putrid leader...lie.
They call that having values.
your new site is a jumbled mess
what happened to the news? the page is either empty or has one news item?
are you just going to be forums now?
Woops
To be honest, I didn't read the agreement closely. I didn't expect any site of ideas would limit itself to one type of idea. Suggestion to ya: Don't limit it. Allow all posts. Allow all people. If someone gets out of hand, or becomes inappropriate, ban them. Multiple ideas does nothing but help the cause of free speech. It shows people different sides of issues, points out crazy people (plenty of them on the right and left to go around), and helps people make up their own mind.
Replying to Posts
This is an area that I am baffled about and I am not sure that I can make myself clear on this but how does one reply to the original or new post when others have posted before you? There is a comment box if you are the first but if you want to specifically address the thread starter, how do you reply? The only links I see are to 'user profile' at the top and 'next frorum topic', 'subscribe post' and print.
To reply to specific posts...
hit the reply link at the bottom of that post.
To comment on the thread parent, use the 'Post New Comment' window below the thread.

D'oh!

bashing
Hey, I am all for Bashing Bush. Please by all means do so. What gets me is the crude treatment of fellow citizens. calling people ignorant rednecks just because they don't live in an "enlighted" northern metropolis. take out your frustration on the leader, not your neighbors.
JD, will keep our eyes open for what you describe
I recognize many names on this thread...dont see too many who are from northern metropolis type places...I see a couple from Oregon, one from Oklahoma, one from Munich...and the rest pretty scattered.
Please take the word 'transition' very seriously 'cause thats where we are at the moment.
