Health Care How-To
The Democratic Party needs to take bold and decisive action toward Democrats who are not favoring a public option in the current legislative process. Here's a simple, foolproof three-step approach:
First, the Party should announce that it will put up and support a Democratic contender for the seat of any Congressperson who does not support a public option in the next primary.
Second, the Party should organize ongoing demonstrations by the uninsured at the homes of Democratic encumbents who do not support a public option. These demonstrations should not happen in public places; they should not happen at the officeholder's office or elsewhere; they should be held in the legislators' home neighborhoods in front of their families and neighbors.
Third, the Party should publish the amounts of money each Democratic Congressperson has received from the health insurance industry and the home mailing addresses of those officeholders. Then, it should invite those officeholders' constituents to submit their unpayable medical bills to the legislator to be paid from the health care insurance industry's contributions.
